Thanks for your comment. The Westpac Helicopter in Maroubra provides beach and coastal surveillance patrols. In an emergency they may be tasked to assist Ambulance or Police helicopters with a search or a rescue of a patient. However, they don't have Ambulance Service of NSW paramedics or a Doctor on board. In Sydney, aeromedical retrieval is the responsibility of the Ambulance Service of NSW.
why does the westpac helicopter rescue them but then transfer them to NSW ambulance helicopter? Happened a few times... Last time I checked the westpac helicopter had NSW paramedics aboard and was fitted in aeromedical retrieval...
Correct - Hunter and Northern NSW are looked after by the Westpac Helicopter and are staffed by ASNSW paramedics
