  • I have about 9k of resistance. Does that constitute a bad mosfet?

  • @dlee9900 no

  • i have a 750.1 zx kicker .. it worked fine for two years out of no where it cut off came back on a week later did the same thing but this time no sound?. i hooked it back up came on still no sound so i unpluged the subs to try diff ones still nothing.. but with the subs unhooked the amp would just come on an cut off till i pluged the subs back up..where would i start to look for that? maybe the channel is bad? what part of the amp is the channel an how to test that?

  • i hav a logic 4channel 1000watt amp i installed it this morning in my car but it always go in protect i check my ground it still goes in to protect but i don't hav ah multimeter to check my voltage on my battery can u help on wat to do if to open the amp or wat? plzzzz an thnx

  • will bad transistors heat up mosfets and blow the internal fuses? the amp starts getting hot in a hurry it goes in attempts to go in to protect

  • Good video, told me what I needed to know although it really need not have taken 3 parts to explain the cause and solution. Thanks though.

  • I Have a 4 Chanel ma audio amp and I Get sound on all chanels but 2 won't get louder why And Can I fix it.can you make a video for that problem thanks

  • I had my amp wired at bridged at 1 ohm & it's only stable at 4 bridged. I fried it after like 2 months of use (longer than I would have expected). I opened it up and noticed that where the ground connects to the circuit board is fried & completely melted through. If I fix the ground do you think it could potentially work again, or did I probably blow something else? I can go through and troubleshoot, but I wanted your opinion first :)

  • First i'd like to thank you heaps for your videos, i find them very useful! I know that transistor may have been blowing, but it's probably not a good idea to test it on a conducting material; the case of the amp.

  • how do you know what mosfet to use? I checked mine and there shot.

  • How come a defective mosfet is high on ohms? If it doesnt conduct, shouldnt it have like really high resistance?

  • @cassius969 I meant low on ohms.

  • So obviously you know what your doing and thank you for providing us with these trouble shooting videos but just out of curiosty, when you read through the first transistor that your removed and it read 0 ohms, could the fact that you read through it while touching it to the metal frame of the amp cause the DMM to rean an open line?

  • Ok so I had a Kicker KX2500.1 amp that would not come out of PROTECT MODE!!!! I would take off all speaker wires. Checked power, ground, and removed control and rca outputs and still went into protect!!!!! As soon as I turned the amp on it would stay in protect!!!! After watching this video. I opened my amp and replaced a bad mosfet or (transistor) and MY AMP TURNED ON!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN!!!! You helped me restore the ground pounding power of my KICKER AMP. This video really helped!!!!

  • It could be a driver IC that is shorted.

  • I have a old Boss amp that powers on but does not recieve any signal at the RCA plug area. Tried it on more then one stereo, what would be your expert opinion on the problem?

  • hi romi, my amps led lights up like its on, but its not giving me any juice to my speaker outputs. whats could be wrong?

  • @sankoboy it will be something to do with the output section. check the output with a multimeter to see if you get a varying voltage when it is on. your speakers may have blown. if not then there will be something wrong with transistors like this video or driver circuits, which are probably irrepairable by hand

  • @sankoboy check the remote wire?

  • sey men what part of the us do you live in i was wondering if you could fix my amp and ill pay you or tell me how to fix an amp its a jl audio e1800d the protect light blinks and wont stop blinkin and nothing work it just dims the light or the truck where i have it connected the amp does turn on

  • thank you brotha..now us little guys can get an idea how to repair our old amps and reuse them.. thank you very much....any chance of you posting a video of a series 8 hifonics 4 channel or 2 channel amp..say a gemini or a zues thanks
