To help them concentrate their attention away from the pain and to protect them from biting their own tongues. Bullets are not likely to break the patients teeth. When your doing a battlefield surgery, you might not have the preferred supplies you need. So you have to improvise.

It was less than 100m... and MG's so as MP and not talking about K98 which was used till mid 90's in serbia as a sniper rfile

MP-40 are basically worthless in open field combat. The K98 is great but lack the fire rate of the M1. MG-42 often work in group to pin down Allied troops. Lone German gunner often had problem of their head getting blown off when reloading.
I have friends from Germany, who granddads foung in WW2 in Wehrmacht. You can also ask some US veterans to confirm you strange conclusions, as german weaponary was on par with US in some areas even greater Stg44 - the precedesor of AK47 which Russia adopted from germans and remaked it to be used as one of the best submachine guns of all time ;) .... read the anals and gather more info from the actual people who used them back in the times of WW2

To help them concentrate their attention away from the pain and to protect them from biting their own tongues. Bullets are not likely to break the patients teeth. When your doing a battlefield surgery, you might not have the preferred supplies you need. So you have to improvise.

@twiggahappy you dumbass, this is based off a real battle, Malarky really did go and try to get a luger( whether there was one or not i dont remember) and he did make it back with all the germans shooting at him, if you dont believe me, go read the book.

Lots of WW2 stories were made during and after WW2 to favore each side. If you ever served as a sodlier as I did when I was 18 and we had all russian russian arrmament back in Czechozlovakia, you would realize that he would got shot evern from 2-5 soldiers. It was less than 100m... and MG's so as MP and not talking about K98 which was used till mid 90's in serbia as a sniper rfile

effectife range for MG42 is more than 1000m... on <100m that would eat Malarky and all others, not talking about MP and K98 shooting at him. Really pathetic interpretation by US. Don't trust everything you read in books. Casualties US - Germans during their westerd offensive still favored Germans, so this interpretation is pointless as they can't hit anything just ground and trees...

@stingray460 lol. Favored German. Roughly five hundred thousands KIA for around two hundred thousands KIA (entire war). Yeah every favorable for the German. MP-40 are basically worthless in open field combat. The K98 is great but lack the fire rate of the M1. MG-42 often work in group to pin down Allied troops. Lone German gunner often had problem of their head getting blown off when reloading.

I have friends from Germany, who granddads foung in WW2 in Wehrmacht. You can also ask some US veterans to confirm you strange conclusions, as german weaponary was on par with US in some areas even greater Stg44 - the precedesor of AK47 which Russia adopted from germans and remaked it to be used as one of the best submachine guns of all time ;) .... read the anals and gather more info from the actual people who used them back in the times of WW2

@916ppl and nobody is favofing germans, I hate them what they did, but this is basically the US view but if you would ever use a MG42 by your self and saw some training vidieos form WW2 of what the weapon is capable, and also heard real stories form US army, you would find this very sillly, trust me ;) ... you wont gonna miss with that gun on that range

Were you there? Nope! How come none of his comrades said it was false? I served in the Army. If one of my buddies made up a story like this to Hollywood, I would call him out on it. I know troops that have been damn lucky that they weren't wounded or killed.

The white powder is "sulfa". It's a antimicrobial drug from the Sulfonamide family. Simply put, soldiers in WWI put it in all wounds to prevent infection.

@biggee316 maybe if they really thought he was some sort of a medic they didn't aim for him. Besides Stranger stuff happens. But yes even this show has its flaws I mean at the end 1 of the guys with the browning just picks it up with his bare hand.... not the smartest thing to do in a situation like that.
