PS2 Burnout Revenge running in 480p on my 32" Samsung HDTV

I have an 40 inch LCD and an AVI cable on ps2 that had been configured to work with AVI in the options under the RGB image settings, and 16:9. The image sucks so bad it gets really annoying, If I could I would buy an 20 inch tube tv, it worth better than an crappy stretched image...

@DonDiego500000 the game looks reasonably good in HD, but you need to run some program on the PS2 to force the high resolution, like GSM.

But unfortunately it doesn't seem to like 16:9... not even if you set it in the console dashboard.

You need to set the TV to 4:3 otherwise it's just gonna stretch the image to fit.

See that's the thing, since regular TV's can display pure black, darker areas can sometimes become way too dark, and we'd have to turn up the brightness to make those areas visible, which is really not good for our eyes. As for colors, that depends on the technology used for the LCDs. :P

If you set it up to run in 480p 16:9, It will run in 854x480 (not 640x480).

You probably haven't enable progressive scanning. Remember to hold down Triangle and X while the game is booting up. It'll ask you if you wish to switch to 480p.

Myself I have a 32 inch bravia... and it looks bad... and well... depends on the games... very few games look very good, because they were made with a lot of details... more than 480p can really show such as gran turismo, god of war, burnout etc...

I use the default "Dynamic" preset. I never really bothered to adjust the settings manually, because it already looks good. The only thing I changed is Digital NR, which I disabled it. (noise reduction is for losers) =P

After u buy Component cable for ps2, dont use it immediately. with still use the composite cabel connected to HDTV, turn on your PS2 (make sure no disc inserted in ypur PS2), then you`ll see browser and system configuration. just go to sys. configuration. select component video out and ensure that u choose y/pb/pr not the RGB one. then select view mode, change it to 16:9. turn off your ps2, and hook it up to your tv with your component cable.

Don't switch to RGB.... let it stay at Y/Pb/Pr. You can activate progressive scan in the game by holding Triangle and X while the game's loading, or through the options menu (if the game has it).

That depends on the quality of the cables itself. Like mine is gold-coated. Not only does it allow 480p, but it also improves the quality of interlaced (480i) video - twice as better than with regular component cables.

You have to hold Triangle and X WHILE the game is booting/loading up (keep holding until it finishes loading). The game will then prompt if you would like to use normal 480i or progressive scan (480p). This only works with NTSC discs. PAL discs does NOT have the 480p feature.

You need to enable progressive scanning (hold triangle and X while the game is booting or through its option menus), and if the graphics have jagged edges, that's normal, because the maximum resolution of a PS2 is 720x480/576(NTSC/PAL), upscaled to the size of your HDTV (by stretching the image).

It's probably your television. PS2 games would normally run at 720x480i @ 60 hz for NTSC games, and 720x576i @ 50 hz for PAL games.

If you're living in the Europe, then it's most likely your TV only supports PAL color signal, and that it has problems displaying NTSC games.

Is your disc pirated? If it is, then the cover art maybe may show you the wrong color signal (e.g. it'll say it's PAL, when it's actually NTSC U/C).

If that's not the problem, then check if the A/V cables are still in good shape. If it's damaged, get a new pair of A/V cables and see if that fixes anything. If not, try connecting your PS2 to a different television set.

Maybe. You might wanna re-think about that though, because the PS2 can only run at 720x480p maximum; buying a Full HD LCD TV would be a huge waste of cash, unless you're planning to get a 360/PS3 in the future (or unless you already have either consoles) ;-P

You can only do paybacks on Crashbreaker events (be that race, road rage, or eliminator - which can be found in tier 7 - 10). While crashed, press R2 to activate crashbreaker. If any opponents are in range of the explosion, you'll get a payback.

As for the special car takedown trophy, you can do this in almost any event. If you see an opponent using a "unique" car (e.g. etnies racer, low rider, BLACK elite racer, etc), take him down, and you'll earn the trophy.

You misunderstood something. Those trophies are per cities, not per events. So for example, if you got the traffic check trophy in Sunshine Keys, you will also have the trophy in other events that are in Sunshine Keys. The same thing goes for signature takedowns.

ah, but if you want a racer on the PS3 that feels like Burnout Revenge then MC:LA is the closest you can get. Head to head BO:Revenge pwns BO:Paradise anyday. NFS sucks balls all the way, a horrible horrible racer! i used to be a big BurnOut fan until Paradise came along, they ruined the series with that release. BTW BurnOut: Revenge looks the dogs danglers running at 720p/60Hz on a PS3 AND you can go online with it, but there's not many racers online left out there :) happy racing!

At first the image was far too sharp for my liking and I used S-video cables.

But then I learned how to disable the DNIe feature on the TV and set the image sharpness to 0.

I like it much more that way.

Sounds like you're plugging in a composite video connector (only one yellow video connection) into a component video socket (requires three connecotrs; red, green and blue). You need to go out and get the right cable (component). Before connecting the component cable you also have to chaneg settings in the system config (making sure it isn't set to "RGB")
