  • she is absolutely PERFECT!!!

  • It's just simply awesome that the first and last ten in Gymnastics Olympic history was given to Romanians !!!

  • Camelia Voinea did the same opening pass at the '87 Chunichi cup (minus the whip back)

  • I agree with some of the other comments. Although she is one of my favorite gymnasts, she deserved a high score. - but not a perfect ten - especially with the hop on her pass. The judges completely ignored that and that was wrong and unfair to the competitors

  • Wow! Romanians and their incredible gold floor routines!

  • spectacular tumbling- but that horrible Romanian choreography.....didn't she recently do a soft core porn film?????

  • I watched this when I was 15; I came.

I watched the topless vid she made many years later; I came again.

    tl;dr she's rather saucy.

  • Big fan of this gymnast...this is no way a 10.0. It IS one of the biggest gifts given in gymnastics history. Always wondered how she got a ten with the hop on the first pass, and the just passable dance. I guess it's partly the luck of the draw - she was first (or early) in the line up. I bet the judges never thought they'd all give 10s - probably thought one of the other judges would have deductions.

    Oh well...can't change history.

  • she totally takes a hop after that punch front in the first tumbling pass....

  • milo esti fantasticà

  • to bad that Taitiana Groshkova diddn't make it!

her double full in and double tuck out is superb!

  • That's so beautiful, the way she leaps out of that second tumbling pass is spectacular!

  • hermoso ejercicio

  • what is this music? luv it!

  • my fav floor routine ever!!

  • She should not have scored a 10.0 with that hope forward on the first pass.

  • @boytoyville Under the new way of judging routines Onodi would have had a far superior score! Much better dance, more difficulty in the tumbling. Onodi was superior, but under the old rules I think milo did all she had to do to win. Onodi's routine was just so much lovelier, but this is fun!

  • silver medalist had 9.950 ;)

  • If she would not have gotten a 10, maybe gotten a 9.975 would she still have gotten gold to herself?

  • im talking to a friend in Romania and he has met her.. She lives in Timosara Romania she just a reg person and yes she lost a child.... He sees her at the supermarket but last time he saw her so was upset so he didnt say anything

  • AUBIE69!mABE YOU ARE RIGHT BUT SHE WON !aND THAT IS A FACT!Ha ha ha!

  • audie69 u must be a gringo!For sure!

  • A gringo?? Wtf is a gringo???

  • delodemi is a gringo.

  • Your mum is a gringo!Ha, ha ,ha!!!

  • Nice timing on that second tumbling pass with the leap at the end in tune with the music. :)

  • my name is also lavinia ngoh and i also do gymnastics she is my idol

  • No, but her 4 year old daughter died this year (2008)

  • OMG, how did she died?

  • You know, I'm not entirely sure. She was born premature, and had an apgar score of 1, so I can only imagine it was a long struggle

  • This is one of my favorite floor routines of all time. I watched this when I was 10 years old, and couldn't believe Milo's talent! I love the way she incorporates her full spin into her dance elements instead of taking that long pause like other gymnasts.

  • WOW . was this the last time a 10 was awarded to a gymnast?.LAVINIA was my favourite.

  • Whoever thinks Onodi should have won over this is insane! This was super difficult, super entertaining routine!

  • Milo is my favorite Romanian gymnast of all time. She is a legend.

  • She said "she must have a fondness for flipping out of her back tumbling"

  • what's does the comentator mean by saying "she must have a fondness for flipping out of birds..", what's a "bird" in gymnastics anyone?

  • She didn't get a perfect 10 for me. She hopped right after her first tumbling pass. And on her double turn she didn't make it all the way around =/. Overall, very nice routine! :)

  • I think her start value is above 10 so she was able to take minor mistakes.

  • This is the very last 10.00 recieved in Olympic Gymnastic History and most likely the last!! A GREAT VICTORY FOR ROMANIA!!!

    The last perfect 10 4eva

  • Lavinia is a great champion! Her work is amazing!

  • With all the deductions you are making of her routine you are right, but by then, the code was totally diferent she went beyond with the dificulty enough to take off the little mistakes.

  • my deductions for this: huge hop on landing on mount (the judges probably closed there eyees for a sec to try an dbelieve what they saw cause it was amzing lol so they probably didn't see it), step to the side after double turn, piked on 1 1 1/ on second pass and right as she is about to lad ehr second 1 1/2 there was a form break, and crappy landing on second pass...atleast a 9.85

  • Judges love Romanian gymnasts

    That's the truth

  • THE BEST!!!

  • i love how she gotta 10 but i dont understand how she got it with the hop after the landing on that first pass

  • It's probably because her routine was so difficult that the SV was above a ten. So she had room for minor errors in there.

  • We love you Lavinia ... even though the hop on the mount should have resulted in a 9.95 score! I only wish that Zmeskal could've done the same routine she had shown in Baltimore! That would have earned 10s from the judges, no doubt about it! Kim's Olympic trials routine would have beaten Milosovici.

  • It is impossible for that to have happened since Milosovici scored a 10. The most that could have happened is someone tied her. Honestly I dont think even that would have happened since even in Baltimore Kim could not get a 10 for that routine, and Olympic judges if anything are harder then U.S judges.

  • It seems to me that you did not see Zmeskal's Olympic trials routine. If you had, your opinion would be much different.

  • Kim didnt get a 10 for her trial routine because she was very short on her last pass

  • Kim didnt get a 10 for her trial routine because she was very short on her last pass

  • Kim didnt get a 10 for her trial routine because she was very short on her last pass

  • Well not entirely. Milo went 2nd in floor finals and got a 10. So my comment about it being impossible for Zmeskal to "beat" her, at most tie her still holds. You cant "beat" someone who has scored a 10.

Yes I did not see Zmeskal's trials routine. I am in Canada and did not cable to some U.S tv at the time. Was she throwing anything harder then she did here? What I did see was her score was not a 10 there and I wouldnt expect scoring to be less generous at U.S trials then the Olympics.

  • Milo scored an imperfect ten on FX in Barcelona.

Zmeskal's routine at the 1992 Olympic trials showcased a whip through to a sky high double layout, 3 whips to a double tuck, and a piked full in dismount. That level of difficulty would've exceeded any other athlete's in Barcelona. It was performed perfectly. The US judges always scored the routines .1-.2 lower than at World competitions, so it is VERY likely that she would've scored a 10 in Barcelona had she thrown that tumbling. Oh well!

  • "The US judges always scored the routines .1-.2 lower than at World competitions" I guess its opposite way: US gudges ALWAYS scored US gymnasts .1- .2 higher than at world competitions, but yes I guess because that level difficulty Kim would get silver even with that low dismount

  • They might score them higher at Nationals than at Worlds nowadays, but that wasn't true back in the 90s.

It wasn't meant to be. Zmeskal's injury kept her from challenging. I still feel that 2nd place Onodi had a much better routine than Milosovici.

  • Onodi shud of won!!

  • I agree with kdan531

  • Full twist double back and punch front is an extremely difficult tumbling pass. This is a very lovely routine, indeed!!

  • yeah I love milo but it wasn't perfect. People may complain that from 1993-2005 there were no perfect 10's but let's be honest there were a lot of perfect 10's awarded for routines that weren't perfect. Mary Lou had a tiny tiny hop on her vaul in '94 for example.

  • how true..i hate mary lou

i think as long as routine looks perfect enough, it was awarded a perfect ten. when we got into the 21st century...deductions were a lot stricter and to gain a perfect 10, it was more based on difficulty, execution and nice form rather than perfection.

  • And there were many perfect routines that deserved a 10.00 but never got one due to the CoP. Off the top of my head: Mo Huilan's VT at the 1995 Worlds (in fact, every hit routine by Mo, full stop!), Ye Fan's BB at the 2003 Worlds, Khorkina's UB and Yang Yun's VT at the 2000 Olympics, etc...

  • If you ask me she didnt deserve a 10.00 She had a small hop on her first pass and a small form break in her back handring in the 1.5 through to 1.5 twist brany!!

  • i completely agree. it angers me even today!

  • PLeaase get informed. An extra hop after a punchfront was not to be deducted according to the code of points back then. And I dare you to show me that form break you are talking about in her second pass!

  • i have a question...y didnt they take off a deduction for her backhandspring into a jump full turn her legs were apart on her back handspring

  • you're wrong about that second pass stuff, maybe on her AA routine but not here

  • Yeah! She got a 10,00; the very olympic one! She tied with Onodi for gold on the vault final.

  • No the other 10 was Lu Li's at the bars !

  • read more carefully what was posted. Darkangel127 said that Milo "tied with Onodi for gold on VAULT final"

  • Yep and he said "10,00, the very olympic ONE" that's why I replied "NO the other 10 was Lu Li's !" :)

  • Did she get a 10? Or am I confusing her with Henrietta Onodi?

  • She sure did! The last perfect 10! Henrietta got a 9.950-Silver for a hop on her triple twist! Miller,Gutsu, and Bontas tied all for bronze-9.912

  • Agree... wondered how she could get a ten with that bounce in her first pass.

  • Read the code of points. At the time, you could have a hop on the landing without a deduction if it was a punch front.

  • Code of points or no-her artistry and 'dance' were no where in the same league as Onodi's. jmo.

  • We usually agree audie, so Im disappointed to see that you dont think this was the winning performance.

The standard was undoubtedly EXTREMELY high at these games imo, and the scoring system was dubious at best.

I think just watching them both with the naked, objective eye, I still feel Lavinia deserv

  • I'm sorry we don't agree on this one. I think it's just I prefer Onodi's style over this and I feel overall it was the stronger performance. I have never felt Milosovic had the greatest artistic expression in the world and I will always pull for the one who shows the best overall balance-artistry/athleticism over a trickster which imo that is the category Milo, Amanar, Gogean and Bontas fell into. They could not dance and I'll always feel the gold medallist should be able to as well as tumble.

  • I also disagree with Lavinia's placement on vault-Henrietta Onodi should have been sole Olympic Champion on that event as well as Olympic Champion on floor. Lavinia's choreo and expression looks juniorish compared to Henrietta's on fx. That's jmo.

  • I agree with you on vault. This however, was 100% the correct standings on floor. She had less mistakes than Henrietta. Of course she deserved to win floor.

  • Well said.

  • THE BEST!!!
