Many of them have come home from deployments overseas in combat and have no buisness on beat until they are treated. I don't think anybody should be judging the cops from this video. Just because the poster says that all she did was mouth off, that doesn't necessarily make it true. Not to mention that when trying to subdue someone that may be resisting, it's not hard to go a little overboard and injure them. All this video shows is a girl lying in blood, being uncooperative, and getting yelled at. I think it tries to imply more than what really may have happened.
They were in a public place. It is COMPLETELY legal. Just ask the State's Attorney of Maryland who recently threw out a case involving a woman who recorded a cop responding to a noise complaint at her friend's house because there was no expectation of privacy. If someone's front yard is public, then so is an airport, mall, or wherever they are in this video.
and i thought cops in Ireland could be assholes at times but to hit a teenage girl in the face hard enough to leave her on the floor in a pool of her own blood and then to harass and threaten a guy in the crowd with their nightsticks when he calmly asked them was the level of force really necessary.........it makes you wonder are all police brutality complaints really that far fetched
The police should have no expectation of privacy; I hope that gets cleared up in the laws soon enough. It's too bad the whole incident wasn't recorded though, since she assaulted someone else, then started hitting police officers when they approached her. If it's ok for them to record me I should be able to record them. The police should never expect any kind of privacy while they are on duty, they are PUBLIC SERVANTS and should always be recorded by everyone around the incident.
It looks to me to be inside a building which then may be private and building owners may regulate what is permitted on the premises. Even if the building is own by the gov. they can regulate what and how the building is used. Video tape could be against the rules.
That is why you need to talk to your state legislature and get law that will allow you to video tape cops /public employees in public place and private places if there are not posted rules.

Not enough video to show whether what they did to her was necessary, but not one call for EMS and the fact that she is dazed and the cops are still insistent on the woman being cuffed show complete disregard for the womans safety. She was not a threat at that time. @snowrider76 He said it's illegal to record anyones voice in his state.. which technically is true. Which is why surveillance videos often have no sound depending on which state it is in. It's a very blurry subject and will remain that way until a case reaches the supreme court and sets a precedent, which as of now has yet to happen. But police are pushing to make it illegal to video tape them at all while on duty in some states already.

I know they have that no-videotaping rule to protect themselves against Rodney King type videos that don't show the full context of the apprehension, but in more cases it's probably helpful for both cop and apprehended.

I don't think anybody should be judging the cops from this video. Just because the poster says that all she did was mouth off, that doesn't necessarily make it true. Not to mention that when trying to subdue someone that may be resisting, it's not hard to go a little overboard and injure them. All this video shows is a girl lying in blood, being uncooperative, and getting yelled at. I think it tries to imply more than what really may have happened.

They were in a public place. It is COMPLETELY legal. Just ask the State's Attorney of Maryland who recently threw out a case involving a woman who recorded a cop responding to a noise complaint at her friend's house because there was no expectation of privacy. If someone's front yard is public, then so is an airport, mall, or wherever they are in this video.

It's too bad the whole incident wasn't recorded though, since she assaulted someone else, then started hitting police officers when they approached her. If it's ok for them to record me I should be able to record them. The police should never expect any kind of privacy while they are on duty, they are PUBLIC SERVANTS and should always be recorded by everyone around the incident.

It looks to me to be inside a building which then may be private and building owners may regulate what is permitted on the premises. Even if the building is own by the gov. they can regulate what and how the building is used. Video tape could be against the rules.
That is why you need to talk to your state legislature and get law that will allow you to video tape cops /public employees in public place and private places if there are not posted rules.
