@Keod123 personal preference. And to be honest, Mac prices have come down recently, and PC prices have gone up. Look at the new Ultrabooks?!their more expensive than the MBA's? Make a multicore desktop on Dell. Your looking of up to $2000. Anyway. Personal preference.

@DetroitBORG it would also do the opposite, get extremely hot without e fans kicking in, i went to the store and they did there diagnostic test and it did indeed throw up faults for the SMC and something else, so its in for repair

@jwindard1990 I do if you think you are a power user, otherwse 8GB is not essential. If the fans are running loud, it might be a process that is keeping the computer running at full throttle. Hopefully it's nothing major! For example, if I'm playing a Java game or rendering a video, the computer will start to heat up.

I could not help noticing the reflection of the window in back. Has the glare been an issue for you? I am very sensitive to glare and since apple does not have an anti-glare option for the Imac I have been hesitating to buy one.

@takforalt Glare is one of those things you adapt to quicly by tilting the screen or avoiding certain angles, it's not an issue for me at all.

yo, dude no offense but 21.5 inch is better because... on a 27 inch you may get a screen a little bigger but the resolution won't fit your ps3 or youtube videos there gonna have to be stretched. Also the quad core i7 and i3 don't have a difference in speed, i7 sucks because since you have turbo boost you won't get enough speed in apps like iphoto and safari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I really admire the newest imac design (as I have the first aluminum imac 20 " - I find it odd that the new keyboard is missing a numeric pad. It is cool though that the keyboard and mouse included are now wireless.

Hey there! I was wondering, I've had Windows my whole life, and I was planning on getting the Sony Vaio all in one desktop, but of course I found this one much more appealing. I could get used to Mac's software with time and everything, but if I somehow also use Windows on the iMac, do you think it will be absolutely useless that I get it? I do love this computer and I know its much better than the sony one (btw, video editing is what I live for), but I cant seem to let go of Windows entirely.

@lukibudi Well you can always install Windows on Macs, and use the apps that are just too important to you, but just try to use Mac as your main OS and only use Windows when you really need it. I know its hard at first, but soon you'll feel more comfortable with a Mac, that's how i let go of Windows.

@lukibudi I was like you a little more than a year ago, I had never used a Mac before I bought my first iMac and I made sure I had Windows installed on the computer just incase I needed it. Guess what, I NEVER used it! You don't need Windows on the Mac unless you want to boot it for gaming. Software out there for the Mac is just as comprehensive, and even more so in many areas. I think you'll find you'll be so enthralled by the Mac experience that you'll have no need to boot Windows.

@demyrik That is the intake vent, it tends to collect dust as well and is one reason the new 27" iMac doesn't articulate downward as far as the 24" (otherwise the stand will block the vent).

@DetroitBORG Actually, I'm in love with it. It's my first Mac, and I got it mainly for video editing. I just purchased Final Cut Pro, and I am avid to learn how to use the software. It's an amazing computer, and there's no doubt in my mind that Macs are the king.

@iGlaube Everything is built into the space behind the screen. The Hard disk is actually somewhere in the very center. I actually use an image of the computer with the LCD display removed as my wallpaper, so it looks like I'm looking through the display to the inner workings. Pretty cool :)

I can't afford to get a new iMac. My Early 2009 24" model will do just fine until I need a new one in 8 years. I've at least upgraded my RAM from 4 to 8. I like the difference. Except I will have to deal with the old intel chip, it's still sufficient...for the next 2-3 years.

@tsitra360 I originally planned to have my Early 2009 24" iMac for at least 3 years, and then October 2009 came around and Apple had to go ahead and tempt me again with that 27" model. So I couldn't resist and jumped onboard. I just assume that I will end up reselling and buying new equipment regularly.
