just put cameras everywhere in UPS facilities, trucks, loading docks, conveyor systems, etc., and you'll discover where the packages are damaged. it doesn't require a lab, just good sense and integrity.
With all of all those machines and computers, Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a few of your 21 year old workers and have them play football with the packages.
Then it will simulate exactly the same environment.
I worked in retail in the field and it isn't just the transit that can damage product, but the drivers who have no regard for the package at all. I worked for a retailer that sold dishes and such and the UPS drivers would walk on the boxes or practically throw them at you. The managers and engineers can keep working on testing, but until they teach their drivers to care about the delivery nothing will ever change.
thats so true i no at walmart thats how they are at the loading dock they just throw stuff out of there trailers and on to the floor thats why when someone gets a TV from there like me it was broken )-; but the box looked fine lol
Any vehicle on the road will vibrate as the wheels go over uneven pavement and dips. That vibration is transferred to the axles. I expect that could then transfer to the package area in the case of a UPS truck or any tractor trailer for that matter.
someday they can drop it from a plane onto my lawn helpful studies they do? how do you take a crap the ups guy away comes when i am taking a shit

How does ups gain an understanding of a company's supply chain management?

I would gladly pay twice as much for shipping, knowing my products were never dropped.
