Some wanted Luna dead and then a tug boat kills him. There should be an investigation & punishment, if appropriate, for it. He'd been swimming with all the other boats safely for 4 years. How come it killed him outright and not just injured him? Poor Luna, such a sweet friendly whale but contact with humans got you killed. It makes me sad and very angry.

@Soulisscool Hiya, apparently the tug that eventually killed little Luna was one of his favourites in his time at Gold River/Mooyah Bay. I have no idea what exactly happened (obviously) but have read the report that said he was sucked into a tube leading to the prop', and was killed instantly. But you would think that prop guards would've been a Must. Such a beautiful boy :((

Yes, such a simple precaution as prop guards wouldve prevented it. I wonder why they didnt put them on? unless they had been taken off for repair or some other reason.

I also wondered why they didnt try to find the rest of the pod, they didnt explain that part, but perhaps there was a good reason why they couldnt find them. Luna called out daily at first & later slapped the water when they went back there and they didnt appear then either so who knows why not.

@Soulisscool It's plain to me that Luna became desperately lonely after the 'do gooders' had chased the sightseers away and he resorted to following the larger fishing boats prior to getting sucked into the propellers. While the LACS, may have meant well, the result of the hunting act in England has been to increase the use of indiscriminate poisoning and snaring aimed at foxes but all too often catching badgers cats and birds of prey, which in my mind is a setback to the cause of animal welfare
