the song was originally on the teen wolf episode when it was aired on TV, but then of course when i watched it on Netflix the other night they replaced it with some dumass song ...once again MTV changes their songs after they originally chose the perfect music for a show haha
I love Passion Pit and I love Smashing Pumpkins. I think this song does a good job of capturing the intent of Tonight Tonight, but I still don't think it's a good cover. Sorry kids, it's an OK song... but thats about it.

Their cover of "Dreams" was great, so I thought I'd give this cover a chance. It's not that good, though. The Pumpkins version is simply much better. I still love Passion Pit, however, and I can't wait for the next album.
@deeman3412 I wouldn't say it just isn't good...it just depends on what you like i suppose, I agree of course that the original is better...that is just a given lol but I like this version too....I have a very very diverse taste in music though :) and hey at least this shows they like The Smashing Pumpkins lol
@PurityandDeath I was saying Panic's version was terrible awful compared to this or anything. His voice was horrible don't really listen to Panic at all though, I just listened to this song and that might be just the way he sings. Did they do a version too?
@Gabriellaella23 Lulzno. I don't think that will ever happen. I didn't realize we were talking about other versions of this song in particular. I just don't want to listen to anything by Panic at the Disco. Or these Passion Pit failures ever again. ;D I'll stick with better music. Like Smashing Pumpkins or Industrial/Metal.
@PurityandDeath Well You suck. Passion Pit are good and are not failures. I actually love Smashing Pumkins also. I like all types of music though... well most. Do you like Deftones? That's like my fav band.
@Gabriellaella23 Not really. Some of their older stuff was ok when I still listened to radio at all but never good enough for me to actually go out and listen to anything else on my own. I just listened to a few tracks and they're just... Wussy. Wussy vocals and bland music.
@PurityandDeath Ok watev. That's your opinion. You think Deftones sounds wussy? You're not listening to the right songs then. I love Smashing Pumpkins and all, but I think they sound way wussier. Especially Billy Corgan's vocals iMo.
@Gabriellaella23 I'll half give you that one because on some songs that's true but I wouldn't say it's true for all of their songs. His voice sounds weird but not exactly whiny on a lot of stuff. But also I grew up with Smashing Pumpkins and I think they're iconic for the time along with Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Tool, Metallica, Pantera, Jane's Addiction and M.Manson.
@Gabriellaella23 That's not something I would personally say for Deftones. At that time I would give Iconic status to Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, I would put Disturbed kind of on the fence. I would say that sometime between now and then they became iconic. Now that doesn't mean everyone likes all of those bands it just means somewhere along the lines you probably heard their stuff and a lot of people did buy into them and they became very popular and famous and word-touring.
This is too weird, I have been listening to this song all week now then I go to watch the third episode of Teenwolf and its on it. I had listened to it not an hour before it happened because I was showing my sister how the Patd version sucked compared to this and she was watching the show with me and I was like, "that's the song!" XD My sister was like, "That's weird." lol
They put synthesizer in it, they added tune to their voices, and are mostly female vocals. They replaced the drumming with synth as well. They decreased the tempo by a lot. And somehow it became less ominous and mysterious. Goes to show you the true musical genius in the original.
Dude this singing fails so ahrd. I love most of passion pits songs and love all of their instrumentals, but hes seriously singing like the bee gees or something
@donut2790 Saw Passion Pit live in Cincinnati in 09, and agree, the band is very tight. Harlem Shakes opened and blew Passion Pit off the stage though. Harlem Shakes are sadly no more but the album they released in 2008 will become a classic. Just my opinion.
The original swamps this song... And whoever says this is more deep than SP's is retarded. Corgan's emotion, his inflection, is what makes Tonight, Tonight so special.
I do like the sort of crackle effect towered the chorus with the synthesizers. But as far as vocals go, these guys need some testosterone stat.
I can imagine a gay guy, with a poster of Twilight on his bedroom wall, lying in his bed upiside while listening and singing to this version... really gross. I think these guys killed one of my favorite songs of my whole teen age.
@javierlocutor You never heard Smashing Pumpkins's b-sides. Especially the outtakers sang by D'Arcy. They are exactly like this. Smashing Pumpkins did a lot of shoegazer music very similar to this version, and i tell you that most part of their beauty was in this dreamy hidden songs at the end of their albums. And i'm gay and i've listened Smashing Pumpkins from the 1993 till now that i'm 30. What you said is very stupid. And Twilight has nothing to do with Smashin Pumpkins or shoegazers
ok everyone should stop hating on this version. I agree that the smashing pumpkins version was much better, but the remix hardly ever is better than the original (at least in my opinion). sometimes its nice to just see the different take on it, i dont think they slaughtered it at all, and I love the smashing pumpkins.
Blah... I don't think this has much power on its own. I would say that is fueled almost solely by nostalgia. Please go listen to the depth of sound and energy that is in the original version...
i was just debating whether i wanted to listen to smashing pumpkins or passion pit. i typed in passion pit remixes, and found this. its nice to get lucky sometimes.
Passion Pit are one of few great bands of our time. This is really good and I love this version. But cmon can't top the Pumpkins they are IMO the greatest band ever.

It's not bad musically. But when it gets to lines like "we'll crucify the insincere tonight", I can't believe this band... it's like they're reading lyrics off a sheet instead of their heart. Like SP's version.
This makes me angry and confused.
