That flight attendant was cold and very tough on that alleged stowaway. She was also very young and certainly too physically strong for the elderly lady to try to fight her with fists.
@sandinyourshoes If you watch the whole movie, the reason why she was being tough was not because she was a stow-away but because a man with a bomb was sitting behind her. Later in the movie, she smacks the old lady but it's all part of an act: to distract the other passengers and get the suitcase containing the bomb while the attention of the passengers was diverted.
In that case, @892lgy7382, the diversion was perfect. It had me convinced. I have not seen the film. This just shows how it is important to understand a situation from all angles. Otherwise, if we see it just one way, then we may end up drawing all of the wrong conclusions.
A great impression of flight before the 747..this movie has a stellar cast from Van Heflin and Burt lancaster to Helen Hayes and Jessie Royce Landi..plus costumes by Edith Head and music by Alfred Newman..greta post ..thanks !!
Jacqueline Bissett was ONLY being a bitch coz they were figuring a way to get Van Heflins case which had the bomb in it ! God why dont people watch the WHOLE MOVIE !?

Bisset is the predicessor of today's military-trained stewa---- ...jeez, what do you call them today?
They can assault you, but everything you do (including self-defense) is a felony.

Helen Hays was a riot in this movie and deservedly won the Academy Award. And yes, Jacqueline Bisset is still hot. Look for her new Avon commercials.

OMG she was so incredible looking. The perfect 1960s stewardess!

The actor seated on Ms. Hayes' left was not Whit Bissell. It was Van Heflin.

Who is the actor seated left of Helen Hayes?

@A2thaMFK It's Whit Bissell. He was in many movies and was on the TV show "The Time Tunnel" in the 60's
