Hello. Thank-you for a very good review of this gps. Was nice to here the directions from the gps in German. I live in Canada and my mothers side of my family is German and I speak a little. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm debating whether to get the Official BMW (Garmin) Navigation installed into my car. This video helps a lot with that decision-making process.
coool. maan i like ur Bmw. so quiet inside. push button start. LovE IT. cool Gps too. thinking of getting one.
How is the Garmin brand? i know its one of the worlds most used. and best. is it very accurate? example. if u pass an intersection does it show you passing the intersection at the exact same time? or anywhere close. or can it be way off?.
For what it's worth... I have a Navman F15 ($99 at Radio Shack). I've used a TomTom (don't recall the model but around $300). Both use Tele Atlas and both are off on destination addresses by 150 to 350 yards especially East to West. Not really a big deal but the Garmin I borrowed from my mother-in-law ($75 as a Thankgiving Day special at Wal-Mart) nailed the destination points. What gives?
I wonder how difficult it was to install the wiring behind the mount. Did you accomplish this yourself or did you hire someone? Did you fear voiding the BMW warranty?
My BMW dealer did it. However, even if you do it you won't void any warranty since it's the official BMW Portable GPS. BTW: I read that here in Germany there is a new one available now from BMW where no holes need to be drilled. It's one of the bigger Garmin GPS devices.
that would be ideal as I think the screen is too small on this one. I've heard nothing about that one here in the US. It would be incredible if the system included ability to play music directly through the BMW stereo (e.g. put a 4G SD Card on the device full of music.) I mean, as long as you're running a wire.
There is a tailored BMW nuvi 7xx to be released this year. You can also use the existing holes and power cables (yup, to fix the mounting bracket 4 holes need to be drilled) for any other GPS device like TomTom etc. However, in that case you need to modify a third party mounting bracket to fit in there.
My English is not that bad usually. However, that was done real quick without thinking a lot about it before. ... and next time I need a camera operator ;-) Anyway, I hope other car manufacturers will provide a similar solution. Instead of ordering the car with built in GPS system for at least 3000 bucks, this is much better.
Hallo, nice review, very informative!
Maybe you can try to hold the camera still or have someone else film while you show the device. In full screen the judder is a little too much.

How well does this integration work? Would the Nav instructions override your radio when driving? Does it come out of car speakers too?

You have a cool mount for the GPS, but now u need a mount for your camera because my head is spinning from all the camera shake!

Texas: Garmin NUVI & Magellan GPS use a different mapping software than Tom Tom. Research more on this, but that's the reason for your differences.

Very nice car. I was looking at a BMW 3 but opted instead for the Maxima...you're making me regret my choice :-(
I did, however, just get a Nuvi 360 from Amazon. Can't wait!

Hmm looking at the video it appears you don't have the stock BMW Audio system in your car? How did you do that (BMW audio systems are non-standard?)

Does BMW have other GPS's as well you can install? Other Garmin versions or a different GPS..?
