i saw these sharks in cape verde, we were on jeep safari & our tour guide told us that lemon sharks were harmless & that we could wade out into the sea & it was totally safe !!! we were up to our knees in the sea & the sharks were about 40 feet away !! ............. i think our tour guide was either uneducated on lemon sharks or A TERRIBLE LIAR !!!

Ballistics gel is actually just plain old gelatin. Perfectly safe for a human, or shark, to eat. I think they were just trying to prove that no harm would come to the shark if they took a bite from it.

This is bullshit. Lemon sharks are not aggressive at all. I've just had the most amazing encounter in Bora Bora with lovely huge lemon sharks (one of which was 3m long, pregnant and very inquisitive). This is the kind of crap that has given sharks a bad name. if you searched for this, please make the effort to go and actually see some sharks in the sea. Amazing.

more than likely its a case of mistake in identity,

the first bite is often an exploritory bite which more often than not isnt fatal which a shark of this size.

Your friend is quite correct. I caught a foot-footer in southwest Florida. My mother cut the meat up into scallops and grilled it. No bones...absolutely delicious.
