  • you drew a guy crying at 4:20.

  • hey there people, this is a question to any experienced bowiers out there. i have mad 2 bows out of aspen. both of them broke with hardly (if any) use. is it just that i am rushing the construction of my bow or is aspen just not the wood for the job?? many thanks.

  • could you make a recerve out of osage?

  • Dave, I was wondering how you end up with the same amount of force acting on the arrow from the bottom limb as the top, if you have a shorter limb on the bottom so the arrow shoots more out of the center. Any help?

  • Thanks for these videos. Would a draw knife be a good option for some of these early stages? (With the obvious understanding that a drawknife is not in everyone's rucksack....)

    Thanks!

  • whenyoucut agood limb of beau de arcset it by the fire to cure and harden

  • bend in the handle bow pretty self explainitory

  • The wood you use is inbetween.

  • do you have to use the heartwood from osage?

  • would red cedar be any good for this

  • haha 4:29 is a sad face

  • A crooked knife will prevent the need to come back from the other side, as you can pull toward the crook and slice the chip off on the first stroke.

  • Finally 2 and 3. Rock!

  • yep happens to me all the time i think im gettin close to tiller on the tree and im nowhere close. somedays im on sometimes not. thats just the way it goes with makin trad. bows dave

  • Great bow dave. Im not one for this bow stuff. barely gotten into trapping yet so i dont see myself making something like this but still, its very entertaining to watch you work on a nice piece of wood like that one there. Keep up the excellent work man :D

  • I was terrified that the string was gonna snap.

  • the last 30 seconds of the video is frozen and has no audio

  • SAME O.o it froze on me to. Something must have happened to the video file before posting. maybe

  • That bow is going to have an 80 lb draw at least. Nice!

    Definitely a deer killer.

  • Dave. I noticed that throughout your bow making videos you always use an axe to shave off material. I was wondering what advantage an axe provides over a knife in this type of work. The reason why I ask is because I noticed that you are choked up on the axe to where it seems that you're using it almost like a knife. Having never done anything like bow making myself, it just makes me curious to see an axe used that way. Thanks for another great video, Dave. Can't wait for the next one.

  • it could be the chopping motion the axe gives instead of the slice a knife would give. That and the weight may make taking off wood easier than a knife since you would have to put more pressure into a knife. Just some possibilities

  • Anyone else see a face with a tears in Dave's drawing?

    thanks for the vids Dave!

  • i see it!!

  • awesome vid dave. i m going to try making bow out of a lemon stave over my winter break

  • thats going to be an impressive bow. What size wetterlings is that?

  • i think its the hunter model. Maybe 12-19"

  • its a 19" wetterlings hunters axe, $60-70

  • surprising one of those goes for more than 100$ CAD in the one store that has it in town.

  • Did you get some new tattoos?

  • Great Video and great pointers, Dave.
