  • manson was olso past his prime so whatever, manson 9 time world champ also shootboxing world champ and pioneer of this sport ,derrrr. anyone can beat anyone on any given day remember that tiger

  • manson gibson kicked that guys ass, surprised rick didnt use his elusiveness to stay away from those leg kicks. PKA rules! it started this progression to where the fights are now.But the fighters now are robots with no class, unlike the old kickboxers. eddie a

  • @wrecker22 Yeah,Yeah,Changpuek Kiatsongrit 69 Kg,Manson gibson 80 Kg,Andy Hug 79 Kg. he was a retired Thai Muay Thai kickboxer. He is credited as being one of the first Muay Thai fighters to go abroad and fight other fighters of other martial arts styles, often stronger and heavier than himself, bringing to the world an understanding of the effectiveness of Muay Thai. Changpuek is a seven time world champion.hope that help.

  • @wrecker22 after the battles at k2 tournament in 1993 fighting kaman, petridis and hoost in the same night just two weeks after fighting nikema and rupturing spleen in 1994 against tompson, changpuek was no longer in his prime condition, when he fought manson in 1998. he was already starting to lose against b class fighters at that time. if manson fought him before 1993 it would have been a different result.

  • no martial is superior but only thai low-kick can beat thousand kick of Tae Kwon do especially Tomato-kick.no no i'm not talk about elbow knee clinch.

  • There was too many different rules of Kickboxing and i think WKA leg kicks rules were not as good as PKA Full Contact rules as the kick's above the waist allowed more flashy kicks for entertainment.

I would of been happy if there was just Full Contact and Muay Thai.

  • rick roufus stood no chance against thai boxing

  • This match was one of the reasons that most Kickboxers, and full contact Karate fighters now train similar to Thai Boxers!

  • @CombatAthletics u dont have a clue what ur saying, thai format is not the only way things get done in terms of kicking effectively low. cmon man research

  • Rick obviously learn something in that fight because he became a Muay Thai practitioner! PKA SUCKS

  • What is PKA?

  • Professional Karate Association which was put togather out of point Karate Like super foot Wallace, Benny the Jet, Don the Dragon Joe Luis league of fighting, No leg kick, no knees no clinching, Then came WKA world kick or kickboxing association which allowed the leg kicks and the knees, this is were the Mauy thai came in to the picture the real school of hard knocks and then the clinch and elbows were utilized! No one wonted to fight the Thais because they were the school of hard knocks!

  • Thanks for the info. Shud of Googled it.

  • rick was a very good kicks above waist fighter, one of the best but couldnt fight with leg kicks.Does he teach thai now?

  • Rick should have closed the distance and stuck with what worked for him earlier in the fight. Rick's punching power allowed him to dominate Kiatsongrit in the first round. However, Kiatsongrit still would have worn down Rick with leg kicks. That's why I think Rick should have made the fight into a boxing match and try to put Kiatsongrit back on his ass with some bombs. He needed to end the fight early with his hands.

  • You'd think old Ricky would have tried to learn how to check kicks. Circling away never worked for him heh.

  • you live in thailand. they have fights everyday and your not in them so that tells me your a coward that kicks pads all day. coward. by the way, im in my 70's gook boy. all the girls in your homeland are hookers for 20 bot. just like your mom.

  • leg destroyer? you kick women? probally. you dont fight. rick roufus would kill you. if your ever in the states please e-mail me I will take you to his gym dreamer.

  • Enough said. No need to discuss further with someone who is almost dead by age, but sadly still have not acquired one ounce of prudence. Every sports has critics, but jumping the topic into "moms" and "race" is just a way for some to show their stupidity. If you are 70+ I feel sorry for you. I respect my elders but you are pushing that line. I have erased all my other comments with the jazzman because he can't seem to stick with the topic and he is senile.

  • Why you put only those 27 seconds? Yeah you guys say that muay thai rules and all that, but there is a big reason why this user didn't upload the first round of the fight: 'cause Roufus knocked the thai guy TWICE

  • Um...yeah and at the end of the fight Roufus coulnd stand up after the he was knocked down for the last time... Roufus lost and looked bad doing it (exept for the 1st round...MT dont do much in 1st round) I have the whole fight. Thailand mopped that night. Death of Old style American Kick boxing. (not used anywhere anymore)

  • Type "full contact kickboxing" on Youtube. You'll see many RECENT and old videos of full-contact fights. The fact that Roufus lost this fight doesn't mean the sport is dead, it is still very popular in all the west. I've also seen fights of Muay thai vs Boxing where boxing loses. Does this mean Boxing is not used "anywhere anymore"? Of course not, neither that happened with american kickboxing.

  • Hehehe... yeah whatever. All I know is that American KB is not what it once was. As a fighting system it completely loses. Most if not all MMA fighter have a strong MT regimen as part as their training...not Amercan kickboxing. One name- Anderson Silva. If you like that sport fine, but it certainly has lost the place it once held in the 70s and early 80s. Replaced by K1. Anyway Look at the last rounds of the fight, if you dont think he was running there is not much I can do to convince you.

  • Also while I like MT and am a fan(funny how a fan becomes a fan boy...silly name calling)I know there are arts that stand quite well against it-Kyokoshin karate and San shao come to mind..But deffinatly NOT American kickboxing (let me strugle to get my 6 kicks in so I can box this guy LOL) Seen Rick fight lately? He certainly dosent look like an american kick boxer so much anymore...most of his kicks are Thai roundhouse and thai low kicks, knees in thai clinch. Well at least rick got the point .

  • Muay Thai- Sport of Kings

  • Semantics. In the fight game and in the world of USA Kickboxing -- K-1 is referred to as International rules or Muay Thai modified. In order to destinguish from FCR rules. As far as his career being over. At some point everyone's career will end. Roufus fought longer than 90% of the competitors and giving it his all and entertaining fans with his heart and skills.

  • To end all your bitching roufous converted to muay thai as well as his brother. End of story.

  • That reallly didnt look like rick roufus

  • I have whole fight, including the prefight interview with ROUFUS. It was funny becouse he said - " I will show these people I will fight them with their rules" HAHAHAHAHA Elbows and knees were not allowed...LOL Becouse of some bad foul calls Kiatsongrit had no choice but to damn near cripple Roufus to win the fight...and he did. The 2 last rounds are just a joke- Roufus running away..it looks REALLY bad. IMO this fight is introduction to Muay Thai to the world, At least America..hehe

  • You are right, Muay Thai won and Roufus probably said a bad comentary. And if muay thai is a better sport for you, then ok. But don't try to insult the other one just because you are a fan-boy that wants to look cool saying that "MT owns", etc. Roufus wasn't running away, that's a footwork tactic invented by Muhammad Ali. I recommend you to investigate more about boxing and kickboxing before making a critic. Roufus did a good fight, period.

  • footwork ... yeah ... he used that footwork FUCKIN ALOOOOOT through the whole fight. If its so good techinique why he wasnt using it from the begining ? At the begining he was FIGHTING even knocked down oponent, then what ?? Footwork .... heh MAN - believe me - he was afraid of those killer low kicks - they fuckin HURT, he had no block against them. Eventually muay thai guy killed his legs. Over.

  • MUAY THAI PWNS FULL CONTACT PUSSY'S!

  • show the first rd. where rick knocked him down twice and the thai stomped him when he was down. and kicked him in the groin 4 times.

  • i didn't see him got kicked in the groin 4 times in the first round. do you know wtf you're talking about, stupid shit. lol.

  • your eyes are 3 quaters closed. chop suey boy. thats why you cant see.

  • with a name like tonyvalente and racist remarks coming out your mouth, i don't think many people will listen to you.

  • Old footage. My guess is that Roufus footage was 80's . Roufus was a great PKA kickboxer then made the swicth to Muay Thai, International rules and K1. He is one of the sports big names.

  • Correction, Roufus converted to K-1 rules, not Muay Thai. Roufus never had the experience or skill to last in K-1. His career is over.

  • To Rick's credit, he was able to knock Changpeuk down twice in the first round with his superior hands. But once it got into a kicking match, Rick was dead.

  • I don't know who Roufus is, but I read in Chang Paeuk's interview...he stated broked Roufus's leg. N looks like the dude in red...well, leg's fuck up.

  • that wasn't roufus u stupid fucks

  • you must be alot more stupid then your mother is!

  • your mom

  • I'm just going to say ouch for the guy in the red pants. By the way, who the hell kickboxes with pants on???

  • Classic fight

  • WOW, HE KICKS JUST LIKE ME !

  • haha that guy was destroyed!!

  • Chang Peuk is truly a Muay Thai legend.

  • lol RIP american kickboxing...
