This reminds me more of young love, when touching and connecting and feeling and exploring are so intense and new, when you learn about yourself through someone else. And what matters with the director is not his or her sexual orientation but his or her competence, sensitivity & intentions. Shelter is a case in point. Jonah Markowitz is a skillful, sensitive, gay director and had serious & romantic intentions.
