Plus, its your opinion to say i missed the point. I am not saying that 'believers' like yourself are passive and wait for God. The miracle itself worked only in the biblical sense. I am saying that ben hur's success in avenging his family was solely without any deity intervening like everyone else with a purpose in life no matter what it entails. Ben Hur succeeded on his own merits.
the reason it works, so well...is because you dont have to believe...in God....or Religion. You just know that a miracle occurred and cleansed Ben's family, watched him and nurtured him when needed. This is life, and also recognising when its time to be self-reliant - like when he was on the long boat - and therefore shaping his own destiny. This is a big point that the Bible missed.
What use is there in a miracle if we don't know what it's for, or what's behind it? It only serves to prolong life for a moment, for in the end all organisms die.
The Bible is about faith in Christ that leads to eternal life. Faith doesn't mean that you just sit waiting for God to act. On the contrary, because you believe in God, you act, work, and live with one sole purpose: to serve God by serving and loving others according to one's calling. You missed the point, my friend, not the Bible.
