  • Stone Gossard is the man. Also, who's the butt much who disliked this...had to be an accident

  • This album showed that Cornell had one of the finest voices ever. Not even debatable.

  • the atmosphere, guitars, vocals... amazing...

    100% grunge...

  • Epic

  • Temple of the dog is a tribute to Andrew Wood. "Want to show you something like the joy inside my heart. Seems I've been living in the temple of the dog." Stone wrote the music.

  • Temple of the Dog didn't split, it was never intended to be a lasting band, it was a side project by Chris.

  • this is the one song of hope i play when i feel like going back to using and at the end of my rope. not sure why exactly cuz there is no answer there... just feels right and sad at the same time. i love these guys.

  • I haven't heard Footsteps by Pearl Jam, but Temple of the Dog was around before Pearl Jam. Only because of Temple of the Dogs split do we have two of the greatest grunge bands ever! Both still rockin'!

  • @dio4lyfe You my friend, need to do more research.

  • With this song i never feel alone..

  • For those wondering.......the same music as "Footsteps" by PJ but different lyrics.

  • @handsomechansome and with chris cornell vocals he did an awesome job here

  • this song sounds a lot like Footsteps by Pearl Jam

  • @LightThingsUp Great comment...?!?

  • @LightThingsUp this is better....IMO

  • one of the few songs that get me on the verge of tears. great album

  • nickelback sucks ass thoroughly.. chris cornell is the king of voices

  • who the FUCK is the MOTHERFUCKER who dislikes this??

  • Comment removed

  • Mike Patton and Chris Cornell possess the best vocals in rock!

  • @nillaice1 What about Staley?

  • @nillaice1 Love the Lovage Baby!

  • @nillaice1 you mean mike van patton?

  • This song accurately describes Andrew Wood's heroine addiction. My personal favorite off the album.

  • The Song accurately portraits Andrew Wood heroine addiction.

  • its about the addiction to heroin

  • @farth3ad "When the spoon is hot And the needle's sharp And you drift away" If that doesnt sound like getting high your an idiot

  • I wish they could of beat their addictions from the love of their fans. Rip Layne and Andrew

  • its just not that easy.... if they could have, they clearly would have....

  • Fantastic song.

  • great song....

  • Footsteps is a great song!! And corporate? What the hell has this dude been listening to?? Eddie brings it every single time.. And Pearl Jam hasn't had a bad album in the history of the band!! At least he was able to keep a band together!!

  • not one bad song on this album!

  • dudes....I just heart Pearl Jam's Footsteps......totally the same damned song with different lyrics. Really? I mean, I know we should recycle to save the planet, but this is getting out of hand!

  • @roodog1974 The music was written by Stone, he sent it with 3 other songs to Eddie to sing on as an audition, I'm 90% sure that was before Temple of the Dog touched it, however this version did come before the Pearl Jam version

  • @roodog1974 PJ's Footsteps is a tribute to the lead singer of Temple of a Dog who died of an overdose. Its totally appropriate that they used this song (which is about the troubles of getting high.) If you want to know more read the cover art in the Lost Dogs PJ album, they describe what each song is about and how it was written!

  • @yellovvsnovv I'm sure you mean Mother Love Bone considering the lead singer of Temple of the Dog is touring with his band Soundgarden now?

  • Eddie Vedder single handedly destroyed the nineties - he sucks and I have no clue why Mike McCready, as talented as he is, sticks with that crap ass band Pearl Jam. Stop talking about corporate sellout bands and come to the realization that Eddie Vedder is the sin of the 90's that has inflicted music today - enough, amen. "Eddie Vedder is ruining what we have started" Kurt Cobain

  • @herpinkstilettos i hate eddie vedder's person but hes a great lead vocalist, everybody tried to sound like that after him. just like every new wave band tried to sound like morrissey in the 80's and every 60's band tried to look and sound like the beatles. hes corporate but hes earned it and dont say you wouldnt turn down money

  • Eddie Vedder single handedly destroyed the nineties - he sucks and I have no clue why Mike McCready, as talented as he is, sticks with that crap ass band Pearl Jam

  • how come this song sounds like Foot Steps by pearl Jam?

  • its not about whichis better , itsabout enjoy them both, its thier renditions of another song both are done extremely well.

  • I cant believe nickelback would be even brought up in the middle of this great song, and footsteps is just as good so everyone shut the fuck up and listen.

  • The beginning sounds very similar to Rotten Apple

  • This is definitely better than footsteps , beacuse Chris is probably 100 million times better than Eddie. If you disagree ,you know shit about singing.

  • @bmiha i wouldnt say 100 million...but 1 million is reasonable...lol...love em both though

  • @femminiello

"Chris Cornell wrote tons of wonderful music, but he's a mediocre singer. He never sung well live"

    You are an absolute idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • Chris Cornell is top of the line vocally, his range is INSANE and like ed vedder when you hear his voice you immediately know who it is. Strong and original.

  • @femminiello sorry kid your on drugs if you think that vedder has a better voice than cornell...i love both of their bands but vedder sings like stevie nicks...and he aint too good live either...maybe you should listen to AIC if you want to see flawless live performances...

  • @chillindog222 its called an opinion, jackass. AIC wasn't flawless live. specially towards the end, layne sounded like shit because he was almost always high.

  • @Badfish228 same could be said about bradley nowell mr. dumbfish, the fact remains that, "Chris cornell is a better singer" in every sense range, control, harmony...and if you think layne went downhill compared to the crap that vedder has put out lately you are obviously a moron and probably know nothing about grunge...furthermore, layne def never went downhill even in the mad season live vids and AIC unplugged he sounded Awesome, so, wtf are you citing your brilliant opinion on?

  • @chillindog222 Into the Wild >> anything Layne's put out recently. Oh that's right, he killed himself. He sounded like shit on unplugged. Looked like shit too. Also sounded like a mumbling idiot on the Another Brick in the Wall cover. that was torture.

and Bradley wasn't ever known for being a great singer like you praise Layne for being.

  • @Badfish228 wow, you obviously have no ear for music if you think he sounded like shit unplugged, and lets listen to anything sumblime has put out with their origonal members... oh, thats right, he killed himself the same way layne did...you should really do research before coming up with such a stupid argument...and you are still avoiding the origonal argument that cornell's vocal prowess towers over vedder...oh yeah, and layne is praised for being an amazing singer...because he was!

  • @Badfish228 also, lets play the new soundgarden (black rain) next to the new pop crap that pearl jam is coming out with (the fixer) and see how they sound next to each other...but then again, you seem to be the type to ignore the actual convo and spout a bunch of BS about how layne overdosed and your precious bradley nowell is somehow immune to the same demise?

  • @chillindog222 Dude Stp,AIC,Pearl jam,Nirvana,Soundgarden all had fucking amazing vocals it just comes down to personal preference. For me I still would say Layne/Cantrell and Cobain were as good as it will ever get.

  • @thestick169 you are truley wise beyond your years sir...def agree with you all the way...especially in the sense of origionality...

  • Comment removed

  • @femminiello well, as a 27 year vocalist, i used to go down to the record store and bye the cassettes everytime they came out, and just because you sing doesn't mean your good at it or know what you are talking about...furthermore, when i came to listen to temple of the dog i didnt come here to here some stupid "kid" badmouth one of the premire vocalists of the time. if you really are a musician you would know to keep your negative opinions to yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • won't let me post any links...is there a special way of getting them on here?

  • @femminiello

I have to agree, i've seen both bands many times, and you're right, chris live doesn't always bring his A game though he sure has aged alot better than eddie, not to mention he can definitely play the guitar wayyyyyyyy better.

  • Comment removed

  • @femminiello

Having witnessed Cornell perform live on several occasions, I can tell you firsthand that his vocal ability is quite remarkable. To assert that 'anyone who disagrees' with your point of view has yet to experience his performances live clearly shows a lack of maturity on your part. Your mind is obviously made up so why ask others to prove you wrong? Your opinion is what it is. BTW, Vedder himself recently referred to Chris as "the best singer that we've got on the planet." Amen.

  • Comment removed

  • @femminiello Your comments are no less subjective than Eddie's really. It all comes down to personal opinion. Likewise, when Cornell brings his A-Game to a live performance, his soulful delivery and technique can rarely be matched. Sure, there are times when he doesn't sound wonderful, but realistically, no professional singer's career is entirely devoid of flaws. Yes, the world has plenty of great singers, but it's not about a contest for me.

  • Comment removed

  • @femminiello If you can't find any good live performances of Cornell on youtube, then you're either blind, deaf or computer illiterate. Seriously, I can mention plenty of songs you can search for (e.g., Call Me a Dog acoustic, Imagine (Lennon cover), Beyond The Wheel), but you've probably seen those before. For whatever reason, you don't like it. I get it! Plenty of other people do though, including ACCOMPLISHED producers like Glenn Ballard. Your "great doubts' are really of no concern.

  • Nb sound wayyyyyyyy different, are ppl deaf wtf ??? plus to boot PJ sounds wayyyy better then shitty mainstream nicklebag lol idiots hhave nooo fuking taste in quality music. PJ & NB shouldn't be in the same sentence where im from its a felony lol.

  • I prefer footsteps is more intense.

  • rock on! xD

  • @mariella13579

    and you're a fucking faggot

  • @mariella13579

Only an ignorant would say PJ pretends to sound like Nickelback, when PJ was formed many years before.

  • @dramzv lol well k first of all i didn't say they PRETEND to sound like Nickelback, I said they DO sound like Nickelback. and SECOND of all, I fucking know "PJ" was formed before nickelback, and 1 more thing... whether you say nickelback sounds like "PJ" or viceversa, it means the same thing seeing as I DID NOT say PRETENDING. get ur shit straight, you IGNORANT person.

  • @mariella13579

pearl jam doesn't sound like nickelback, sorry, nickelback doesn't sound like pearl jam, nickelback's a bunch of corporate fucking sellouts,

  • @GrungeFiend Thats weird because I just saw Pearl Jam doing fucking Target commercials. They use to not be sell outs

  • @GrungeFiend man you gotta hate Pj haters and people who say they jumped ontop the band wagon. they're clarly ignorant about the band because Ament and Gossard were in the first and most inspiring grunge band. People are so dumb

  • @AIC2374

finally someone with some god damn sense,

  • @GrungeFiend yea thanks i hate that anit-pj shit. when meanwhile they had 2 of the FOUNDERS of grunge. people say PJ jumped on the bandwagon, technacally they were one of the first

  • @GrungeFiend Nickleback ain't so bad... They're entertaining, and have decent sound, if a little glossed up... But they certainly aren't anything like on a level with Pearl Jam, I agree. It's like comparing a chimp to a God (Well, it would be if Gods were real)

    But Chimps are pretty cool.

  • @GrungeFiend nothin compares to the soulful mr. EDDIE VEDDER ....,nothingman!

  • @GrungeFiend fuck those idiots.

  • @GrungeFiend you cant sell out if you were never legitimate to begin with lol...fuck nickleback,

  • @GrungeFiend

Know how that band got their name? They used to only charge 5 cents for their concerts, but still when the concerts were over everyone was demanding to get their nickel back!

  • @ikilledsanta123

I hope to god that's actually true

  • @mariella13579

are you kidding me? you have no fucking right to even listen to this song, or any REAL music, if you're gonna compare Nickelback to Pearl Jam in any way, shape, or form. Tell me one similarity, you fucking smart ass. I'm sure there's a Nickelback concert that you should be at happening somewhere, no one wants to hear your shit here anymore

  • you've got to hold on to your time

    till your break through these

    times of trouble

  • epic song! epic sound great vocal

  • FUCK YEAHHHHHH......WITH A CAPITAL F.........AS IN FUCK

  • This is the best song I've ever heard. holy fuck

  • i prefer Footsteps, but this song is nice. Footsteps is just so achingly beautiful.

  • I like this song, but my favorite song is still wooden jesus

  • veryyyyyyy nice! Thnxxxx Pearl Jam & Soundgarden!!!!!

  • this is footsteps by Pearl Jam but with different lyrics

  • Comment removed

  • pretty sure this song came first haha

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • from 4.20 to 5.20 The best!!!!! i think i'm in heaven!!!!

  • @siioposso Yeah, so then you should Say Hello to Heaven :)

  • Cornell rocks this song! I love both versions for seperate feelings inside!

  • Mui Buena!!

  • Chris can never top the way he sung on this album, can't even sing these songs as well now, cause he was singing about the resent loss of a friend, which all young ppl rebel against as they do with everything else,b4 the young grow old to realize birth, work & death r the only tangible constants in life,& so,realize its a fight they'll loose & therefore, must accept, which ironically is a death in its self anyway

Or 1 could simply step out of human perception entirely, which may result in a padded cell

  • very deep my bro..or sis?...yeaaa..besides the deep thought, its interesting how a voice sounds killer when ya young and weary when older, look at Bob Seger, still my fav. Either way..Chris and Bob still rockin it...keep on guysss...This record was in my mind better than any Pearl Jam or Soundgarden record!

  • @Randys

    Indeed

  • This is a fantastic song. And Cornell sounds great

  • Chris Cornell sang with Pearl Jam on 10/6/2009 Hunger Strike.

Sounded good to me, but I'm not a lame ass pussy eating criticc like you faggots. So maybe it's better to bash him like you dick ticklers.

  • I listened to this song tonight for the first time in over 15 years tonight. I lost a really dear friend to heroin and when I got home from hearing the news, I put my stereo on and this song started....I.m not ashamed to admit I cried as I thought of him again after so long. Miss you buddy

  • Mr joe cage.......Footsteps is the original version with eddie vedder ....an early pearl jam version....but, of course.....he can't touch C. cornell's version........

  • @aussiome

I disagree. The overwhelming emotion, the pain in Eddie's voice, and the rawness of being just a harmonica, guitar, and his voice, make it so much better for me. And the lyrics are much deeper and just hit you when you first hear it.

  • @demravager - FYI - Chris Cornell did the vocals on Times of Trouble. Not Eddie. In fact, other than hunger strike, Eddie did not contribute much on this album vocally. No offense to Vedder, but in my opinion, Cornell has the better voice for this style of music.

  • @jsteinagel25 Sorry, it's a misunderstanding. I was commenting someone else who said they preferred ToT to Footsteps, whereas I like Footsteps for the reasons I said in my comment.

Love Cornell and Temple of the Dog, as well as Pearl Jam

  • @demravager - My bad. Sorry. I guess I should learn read the entire thread before making comments :-)

  • @jsteinagel25 amen to that, brah.

  • chris cornell goes from this mighty song to that shit album 'scream'

  • so right. artistic evolution my ass. cornell knows he cant come close to his early work range wise

  • Classic Chris Cornell....

  • fooststepsssssss

  • i don't know what the fuck that means, but i' m having a t-shirt made that says this. that's the funniest shit i've ever seen

  • You're unsure about your psycological health?????

  • This song is so epic, I don't understand why it's not played much. Because it wasn't marketed as a single?

  • its too good for any 'marketing' - this isnt a song for selling pepsi cola - this is a song that breaksdown the superficial skin of the human condition to reveal the pain we all carry within . . . such a deep song successfully avoids being cheapened by commercialism

  • @mubnut, pretty much. Singles will always get played the most on radio.

  • @mubnut It's better than that and we know it.

  • @mubnut Maybe because its about getting high

  • @docterherb88 Well a lot of really popular songs are about addiction and getting high....I guess it doesn't matter. It's great song no matter who hears it.

  • Chris is the biggest Rock star EVER!

  • RIP Andy Wood

  • Mitici

  • I need to buy this album!! Its wierd how you put off checking out side projects for the sake of following the bigger bands!!! dang short sightedness!!

    Nice, cheers from Ireland!

  • same music as "footsteps" by pearl jam. Stone wrote the music and sent it to eddie vedder and chris cornell, both wrote songs with it.

  • @harrymurdock1

Im torn between Foosteps and this song, I can't decide which I like better, they're both incredible

  • the GRUNGE not DEAD

  • Fuck Yeah thats music not the shitty indie rock bands we hear nowadays.

Man I miss the 90s so FUCKING MUCH!

  • you so right, and music really does help define how a person is, and we are sure getting a lot of pussies in return for the pussy ass "music" that is being made today.

  • GREAT SONG TY TY TY

  • Thanks a lot for posting this......great song from a great band

  • i wrote it on your other vid and i'll write it here too. thanks alot man!!!!
