  • its a emu from the san fransisco zoo...

  • Wrong version

  • It's a bird spreading its wings

  • Comment removed

  • The digitally remastered version makes it look like a crane, but it is a body in the original geniuses.

  • Its a fucking bird watch other vids with close ups

  • well the last video i watched just now had a munchkin "Jerry Maren" and he said that it was not a real munchkin it was a bird because they had order a bird for the forest part from a zoo to make the movie look more realistic. lol but what do i know i wan't there.

  • 4 year olds need to stay off the internet.

  • i can see the ostrich because it's obvious that it stretches it's head out but did any of you notice the figure that was swinging back and forth ahead of it? of course produces would say that it was just an animal wandering around because no one wants to admit that someone on set hung them self and no one noticed

  • it isnt a munchkin its dorthys understudy she was the directors daughter and pissed she didnt get the lead and hung herself. they didnt notice until after the movie was already out.

  • just reading your spiel above: the director has made statements saying that they did hire some exotic birds which wandered around in the background of this scene to make it more fantastical. That is why there are birds on the set of a movie, MGM hired them and put them there! Why not? Also the ostrich, for example, is a huge flightless bird (it looks like an ostrich) as is an emu, a peacock, a cassowary. birds dont always fly.

  • yes there is a bird but at the same time the bird spreads its wing you can also see something swinging by a rope next to it

  • it's an emu. it was in the movie earlier than that when they found the tin man. it's definitely NOT a munchkin.

  • im watching the movie right now its about to that part

ill decided if its a man being hung

  • @zachattack562 it was the directors daughter

  • they had alot of animals from the la zoo on the set, and it was an Emu that was wondering around

  • andering around in the background. Actually, if you watch tin mans song, that crane is in the background. Case closed (:

  • Mkay, SO. ive always thought this was a munchkin hanging himself, until my uncle pointed out the obvious. In the zoomed versions, you can see the herons neck, which is the darkened part of the tree. It bends down to eat, and then expands it's wings. You can clearly see the white wing with a black tip. Look up the wingspan of a whopping crane. About 7 feet. & as for the question, 'why would there be birds on set?' if you actually watch and pay attention to the movie, there are plenty of birds wa

  • In the original a set worker hung himself on a set tree but in the edited version they replaced the hanging man with a bird

  • it's annoying how people still insist this is a hanging person when it's clearly not. Why would you want it to be a hanging munchkin? If it were that would be horrible sad. But seriously...how can anyone say it's NOT a bird???

  • so I actually just looked this up, and the video "the wizard of oz suicude debunked" does prove that this is a bird. after seeing it, I can slearly see it in this one too, you can see it the entire time theyre walking. U see a dark figure, its shadow is on the treem its clearly a bird. It's standing there the entire time,u can see it BEFORE the tinman falls, but right after he falls, the bird spreads its wings. once u see what it really it is, u can't unsee it. Def an emu, to big for a crane.

  • This is obviously the bird version, the vid that does show the hanging person is an edited hoax! I can prove it without a doubt watch 'clear proof the hanging munchkin video is fake'

  • in the deleted scarecrow scene they used a crow in it. it takes his straw from him.

  • MGM though it would make "over the rainbow" more exotic if there were random birds just wandering around, so they rented several different types from the Los Angeles Zoo (including peacocks and turkeys) and let them loose on the set. If you pay attention throughout the sequences when Dorothy is meeting everyone, you'll notice a lot of random birds around.

  • I believe ya, bro. This ish is real.

  • Comment removed

  • It ain't no bird. That is a dude hangin' himself, folks.

  • @UncleJarvTucker Lol, its clearly a bird you can see it stretches both its wings out, there was a hoax video made that had the hanging figure but thats an edited fake

  • @fallentwig Of course, we all think something a little different, but I still have my original tape and you can clearly see a manjump off, the rope is too long so he hits the ground. He gets back up, fixes the rope height, climbs up the tree again, jumps off, and this time swings back and forth as he hangs. I have no idea how anyone sees a 'bird' in what is clearly a guy hanging himself . It looks NOTHING like a bird...closed set, real sized "set" trees, indoors = NO BIRDS

  • @UncleJarvTucker Then you should post that vid. The only vid of a hanging person was posted by suicidal munchkin, you may have seen it, it is an edited hoax and I can prove it. Watch my vid 'clear proof the hanging munchkin video is fake' Ill point out the obvious editing, let me know what you think. I can only comment on videos I have seen, so far suicidals vid is the only one in existence and I have proven its edited, part of the bird appears in it!

  • @UncleJarvTucker I'll be honest with you, I highly doubt you have that vid and if you do I think its the hoax video, its easy to tell. If you really do have that vid you should post it as you'd be the first person EVER to show it. I cant believe that someone hung themselves on a movie which aired unchanged for 50 yrs and noone has posted the vid, plus there is no record of it anywhere and no such death was reported to the lapd

  • @fallentwig I most definitely do have it...it's my original VHS...the particular version shown here looks more blurry than mine...The makers of the movie tried to cover it up, after realizing that it was caught on tape, so they concocted a 'bird' story so the general 'masses of sheep' wouldn't be alarmed. I'm sure you're not a sheep, are ya? You can handle the truth, right? Everything they told you was a lie, I'm pretty sure. :)

  • @UncleJarvTucker Look no offense to you, but everyone has stories, and thats all it ever is. Just stories about having the vid or being related to the munchkin etc. Please watch my vid and see that I have proven the only vid posted on youtube (by suicidal munchkin) is fake. I cant comment on ur vid as I have not seen it, but ur argument carries no weight unless you actually upload the video, can you see my point? Watch my vid and tell me what you think

  • @fallentwig I didn't mean to sound snotty, as I meant no offense to you either...I will watch your vid when I wake up...just going to sleep...I'll let ya know what I think tonight after I wake up...If anything, it will be fun fer us to debate it...lol. Also, if I can figure out a way to load my vid from VHS, I'll do it...I prolly need a way to input a VCR into my computer, but now it sounds fun to do...It will be interesting, if nothing else. TTYL, Mr. Fallentwig. .

  • @UncleJarvTucker Laters uncle jarv, Suicidal munchkin recorded his from the vhs with a camera, I dont know if thats an option to you, I look forward to your response

  • Death

  • First of all, think about it, why the fuck would they let large birds just rome around the set while filming, "to bring the scene to life" bull shit. Second this is the RE-MASTERED version, if you take both the original and the re-mastered videos and put them side by side ... there is clearly no bird in the original version. And last, it wasn't a munchkin .. it was the original tin man, he got the part but later lost it because they found a better actter, in rage he stains the movie with his

  • @Robbygtr34 It wasn't the original Tin Man,the original original Tin Man was Ray Bolger Then Buddy Ebsen and it went to Jack Haley, who was the original Scarecrow...

  • @Robbygtr34 So you're saying that they would let a person HANG in the video but wouldn't let birds fly about? Really think about that for a second and you should be able to see the flaw in your own logic. I'm not going to pretend to know what it is, but I'm pretty sure you don't know either.

  • Its a bird. You can see it earlier on in the scene of the movie while the characters are talking. In order to give the movie a more wild and mystical feel they brought in live exotic birds and let them run free on the set. This is a bird bowing its head, standing back up, and spreading its wings. It was debunked on national tv by the producers of the movie and one of the original munchkins. Look up wizard of oz hanging munchkin debunked. This is obviously a bird.

  • @spiritedaway0tutu i dont get why people dont listen? its a bird spreading out its wings. at least you know that.

  • ITS A FUCKING BIRD OK!!!!!!

  • Yes I saw a bird spread his wings dumbass.

  • Why are people so damn gullible? Why would anyone really want to see someone dead or dying swinging from the tree, or wish that on anyone? it's not cool, or sensational, it would be sad...if it were true!

  • This is an edited version for dvd the rumor started on vas

Besides how does someone hang themselves like that.

tho there were different rumors to whether he used a horse to hang himself

or if he just used a ladder

  • If you watch carefully you can clearly see both wings shoot out to each side after it bends over its a crane

  • Yeah I see it!!!! A WING stupid

  • why would there be a bird on the wiz of oz set i mean really and it looks like the BODY! is hannging behind all of the trees so... its a BODY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dance8dancer - Birds were loaned from the LA Zoo to give the set a more outdoorsy feel (a peacock, for example, can be seen wandering near the Tin Man's cottage earlier in the scene)...if it's a "body", why does it clearly spread its wings near the end of the scene?

  • @WhatsAYak those arent wings smart one i mean duh!

  • @dance8dancer YES THEY ARE!!!!! if you look closely the bird is spreading its WINGSS

  • "The official line from the studio has always been that it was a bird. To give the indoor set used in this sequence a more "outdoors" feel, several birds of various sizes were borrowed from Los Angeles zoo and allowed to roam around."... "All the forest scenes in The Wizard of Oz were filmed before the Munchkin land scenes and so none of the dwarf actors would have been present. It says the bird is often said to be an emu, but is more likely to be a crane. " -BBC

  • In the first version there was a supposed hanging, even if that did happen that is a bird. The light reflected on it's wings were so they could make it spread it's wings. It's a bird, not a much kin.,,unless you see the old version were it does look like it

  • Stupid kid.

  • Looks like the Lochness Monster!

  • they edited it out of the dvd version i saw it on the original VHS tape its their...

  • Comment removed

  • When the tinman is singing there is, plain as day, a bird behind him. So there are birds on the set and a person can hang sideways.. but they say that the original movie you could see it and they recalled it and put birds so.. you never know. I think the one that's going around that people claim is the vhs version, is the fake one. Looks edited.

  • @dobbinhuff95 - If you're referring to the video posted by SuicidalMunchkin, it is indeed a fake...look closely, and you can see the bird's wing tip poking out from under the "suicide".

  • @WhatsAYak suicidal munchkins video seems logical

  • @mibevan - It's a fake...in fact, a video has been posted titled "100% proof that the hanging munchkin is fake", which proves it and points out that the "suicide" was clearly edited in.

  • @WhatsAYak i actually checked its there on VHS

  • @mibevan - So did I, and the scene in question looks exactly the same on my VHS copy...no "suicide", just the same bird that was supposedly "edited in".

  • @WhatsAYak and also he has a video of him watching it on VHS with his camera

  • That's not a munchkin hanging itself! I suspected foul play it was a midget on midgeomicide, or midgicide, but not midgisuicide, perhaps even midgetpsuedocide

  • Okay.... think about it since this is a fake background with fake trees and everything is fake how can someone's body weight be able to swing on a fake tree branch.... really?

  • I don't understand why people are getting so worked up over this "debate" and have the need to curse and yell at each other. It goes back to basic psychology that not everyone thinks the same and not everything is perceived in the same way. Plus, the out-dated quality of the video isn't helping. If you think it's a bird, great. If you think it's a crane, great. If you think it's a person, great. Stop trying to make it seem like you're "right" and there's no way around it.

  • LOOK TO THE RIGHT WHERE THE TREES ARE ITS SMALL BUT YOU CAN SEE THE MUNCHKIN

  • Thats a fuken bird dumb bithces!!!

  • a bird retard

  • see what?

  • I understand why he's hanging himself...

  • sand-hill crane..

  • I'll tell you why they have a bird on the set.

ITS THE WIZARD OF OZ YOU RETARD. Of course there's a bird on the set! They even said so. Plus look ,you'll see a peacock in the background of an earlier scene so the "munchkin" bird isn't the only one in the whole movie!

  • I try harder and harder everytime to see a munchkin swinging and all I see is a bird.

  • Seriously, that does not look a thing like a person. I know it's a bird, I tried to

picture it as a person, it doesnt' fit! It's a bird extending its wing!! People are

    so "stoopid!"

  • its not a fucking munchkin you asses.

its the first tin man , he didnt get the job so he hung himself on the set.

  • @ayootyke The first actor to play Tinman ended up playing the Scarecrow. The second actor they got had an allergic reaction to the aluminum they had him wearing, and went into the hospital. He lived, but he's not in the movie. No tinmans died. This video is hard to see, but it really doesn't look like a person, that's for sure.

  • pssh don't be silly, you can clearly see that it's a bir... OMG! SHE'S MISSING A FINGER!!!

  • They said it was an emu which is a flightless bird you dumbnut.

  • clearly, its a bird. look at the ''legs or arms'' that are stretched out. its white, with rufflues, followed bya thick stiper of blick, with ruffles. crane. yes, i think so.

THE BIRD IS THE MOTHAFUCKIN WORDD> :D

  • Its A Bird.

  • poor munchkin

  • Kid, its a crane that was put there on purpose for character u "dumbnut"

  • Hey, you there!

If you don't agree with this kid, you're a dumbnut, and you're ugly, and dumb, and... and... dumb! I don't like you, and I'm gonna tell everybody you still wet your bed!

  • have u ever heard of a flightless bird u dumbass?

  • it was a bird i have proof! cuz when the tin man is dancing after being oiled... its in the background

  • @xdancefulx I know! I saw that too

  • Comment removed

  • It's not just any bird, it's an African Crane. When they were filming the movie, the Directer had about 300 birds brought in from a Los Angeles Zoo so he could select the best one's to add to his film. Some say the birds "escaped" and others say he purposefully put them into the background of the movie to add atmosphere.

  • nooooooooo it was in munchkin land not there!

  • Here is a video of a munchkin that was in the movie and he said it did not happen.

    watch?v=rQECeV5nwzA

  • Its clearly a bird

  • Hey Its Fake Trust ME

  • FAKE AND GAY, PHOTO SHOPPED, NOT REAL!

  • @ABRBMatt atually is real :) read on google a munchkin did not get the part in the movie so he snuck in and hubg himself during the scene its not a fake sir :)

  • @thegreatdude14 ITS A FUCKING BIRD!

  • @rocky666 they editied it in the latest movies to hide it and make t look like a bird r tard it was all over the news

  • @thegreatdude14 No there is no evidence of this in the news its all rumor. They used all the birds from the LA zoo in this specific scene. There is mention of a suicide earlier that day but never on set. All footage old and new looks like a bird, the fact you want someone to have killed themselves is sad. ITS A FUCKING BIRD.

  • I have seen this clip like a hundred times and I still cant understand how it could possibly look like a hanging munchkin

  • u can see its wings, lol

  • how would someone project themselves out laterally to hang themselves?

    i love ostriches. nasty suckers.

  • Umm the reason it's would be a bird is because first of all the filmed this movie at a farm so of course there will be birds and second of all....birds don't have to fly 24/7....

  • Comment removed

  • My mistake! That's a crane. An emu is an origin of the ostrich.

  • How could you possibly mistake the spreading wings of a large bird borrowed from a zoo for a hanging dwarf ? Does your need for youtube hits outweigh any sense of personal embarassment over such a ludicrous claim ?

  • @KVID1000 well put dude

  • @JBombzzz96 ... Thanks... Had to be said.

  • the video ant no entertainment

  • it is not a munchkin in the background hanging itself in is the co-director he didnt like his job so he hung himself look it up !

  • Even if some Urban Legends aren't real.

Well, they are still interesting right?

Check this channel vids out and tell me what you think:

    |youtube.com/RealLifeMysteries|

  • its a bird dumb ass!!!!!

  • its a bird if u look a both sides of the tree u can see the same thing a bird is streching out its wings u guys need to look harder if u think it is a hanging munchkin

  • its a bird if u look a both sides of the tree u can see the same thing a bird is streching out its wings u guys need to look harder if u think it is a hanging munchkin

  • it looks so much like a bird but when u replay the sein over and over again u can see that the "figure" has long hair like a human now tell me there is a bird on the set with long hair it just doesent make sence im on both sides

  • i agree that that looks like a bird but i also have some doubt about it being a bird cuz if u pause this vidio on the 8th sec u can see that the "figure" oviously hase hair like a humans so i dont realy know wat it is

  • Plus y u say it would b retarded for a bird to b on the set of a film? I mean honestly, have u seen any movies? Ever seen 'The Crow'? Theres lots of birds on the set of that movie

  • If it was a munchkin theres nothing it could b ties to cu the trees dont branch off. You r stupid. U obviously have never seen a bird n real life or u would no that birds, especially peacocks and chickens, stretch ther wings alot. Thats y it didnt continue to "fly" u retard becuz it wasnt ever starting to fly n the 1st place

  • whether or not this is a bird is irrelevant, there was a munchkin who killed himself, and there are also munchkin ghosts.

  • Dude, it's a bird. They wanted the set to seem real so they had birds chillin on it. Anyway, a suicide wouldn't have made it through all of the editing. It's a myth.

  • i still see it as a bird no matter how many times i watch this -.-

  • i hate when people use so many exclaimation points! it can get really annoying!

  • @spj95 ME TOO!!!!!!!

    IT PISSES ME OFF!!!!!!!

IT ONLY COULD BE WORSE IF THEY CAPITALIZED ALL THE LETTERS!!!!

    THE BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!

  • @spj95 yuh trippin :)

  • ITS A FUCKING BIRD HOW CAN YOU GET A HANGING MUNCHKIN OUT OF THAT

  • no one died on set. it is a crane or some other large bird they borrowed from a zoo for filming. they planned to have it walking in the back ground. it is BOT a dead munchkin

  • The bird's wings open up on both sides of the tree at the same time. Do you suppose this was two munchkins synchronize hanging? Or was it one munchkin in front of a mirror?

It's a bird. Once I saw the bird, I can't understand how anyone can still see it as a body. It looks nothing like a body swinging.

  • It's a bird.

  • Is it bad that I wish it was an actual person hanging instead of a dumb bird...?? lol I really wish it was a man. That would be cool.

  • @jamiexXxmarie ...Well, at least you aren't living in a fantasy world. You wish it was an actor, but you aren't denying the facts. That's admirable, I suppose. Besides, I can sympathize with the fact that a bird opening it's wings isn't nearly as exciting as a suicide caught on film.

  • i read the descrription and yur the dumbnut now listen you think this over! Have you ever watched the movie? there are about 10 chickens in the backround of the scene where the tinman is learning to walk so just get it through your head a munchkin didn't hang himself!!!

  • It's a bird that they borrowed from a local zoo, if you look close behind the tree you can clearly see it. One of the main reasons why the bird looks so big is because it's either an emu or a crane-also because the trees were fake it made it look taller. Judy Garland didn't have any competition for the role so it couldn't be her "rival". And it definatly couldn't have been a munchkin, because this was shot way before the munchkins even arrived on set. Do your research about cast interviews.

  • @keekee1817 Actual if u take a real close look the bird is in front of the tree

  • It's a bird, end of story. -_-

  • BIRD!

  • The quality of the version you're watching is shitty. I've seen this in digitally remastered HD. They let crazy stuff likes birds on the set to make it magical. It's a crane, all it does is extend it's wings. The bird is black, so the rest of it is hard to see because it blends in with the tree's behind it due to grainy quality of the original.

  • @spawn22222 Hmm interesting, what's the black part at the end, the part that appears to look like "hair"? Looks like hair swinging.

  • @KandieKaneK Oh my God, the birds wing-line has a black line at the top of each wing, and the rest of the wing is white. Look directly to the left of the opening in the trees. Concentrate elsewhere, like in front of the tree to the left of the opening. Look, I've seen it in high def, it's a fucking bird dude.

  • @KandieKaneK if he hung himself then he would be hanging by the head and his hair couldnt be swinging..

  • Don't you know anything about physics? If he swung all the way out there, he doesn't just stop on the back swing, he'll swing right back out again and gradually swing to a stop. IT'S A FREAKING BIRD!!!

  • its a bird, stop kidding yourself

  • you guys crack me up!!!all you have to do is zoom and see its a f..... bird!!!and if some of you say that its too big to be a bird,well...you need to look up cranes or peacocks that are twice your size!!!oh...and...those birds DON'T FLY!!!!!

  • I DO believe its fake and that it wasnt a man hanging but there is one thing i find interesting about the bird thing

everyone keeps saying that you could see a crane or heron or peacock or whatever a few minutes earlier in the film (which is true u can see it and it is a REAL bird)

the video i saw before this one zoomed in on the bird when the scarecrow trips at the end when it opens its wings and its obviously hanging by a rope u can see it attached

why is a living bird hanging by a rope?

  • @314313546 It's not hanging by a rope, the quality of the video is decieving you.

  • My Reading Teacher told me about this so I checked it out...it looks fake but she says it's real so I don't know, if it is a dead munchkin or whatever that hung himself then R.I.P. but if it's a bird on the set of the movie or cran or whatever then R.I.P. bird cause birds don't live to 70 years!

  • OH. or maybe its a giant bird spreading/stretching its wings. DUH DUH DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHH.

  • It's a peacock. If you look earlier when the tinman was dancing, you would see a peacock BEHIND the scarecrows. When the trio was still facing the screen before they skipped into the forest, you can clearly see it's a peacock.

Peacocks do not fly (or so I think they don't) so that's why it flapped it's wing, which looked like a swinging munchkin.

No one commited suicide in this. The tinman however DID die of cancer and was replaced halfway through the movie.

  • @Razzlyify Um... Forgive be, but Buddy Ebson didn't die during the making of this film. He had a severe allergic reaction to the aluminum dusted makeup he had to wear, so he was hospitalized and the Tin Man role was given to Jack Haley in the meantime. Buddy Ebson went on to act in many other films and TV shows after The Wizard of Oz. He lived until 2003 actually.

  • @hellquat I wasn't sure about that. I heard it from a friend.

  • although i know its a bird..its fun to consider a munchkin hung himself on set LOL

  • it's a peekcock if u rewind to the tin mans dance u can have a clear look the the Bird beside the little Hut

  • It's not just a bird, it's a crane or heron, easier to train and are nice to people if you grow up with it, they let animals on the set because they thought it would be more forest-like. All the bird does it bend over and stretch it's wings, I know some of you want to believe a guy hung himself but, that's just not what happened. Believe it if you want to but, I'm not gullible enough.

  • @Skittywolf this is my first time seeing anything like this and I looked at it closely, and sure enough you are right its a bird, my bf is conveniced its a man. XD

  • @Darkflametailz xDDDDD nice

  • @Skittywolf true :)

  • @Skittywolf suck my weewee XD

  • @The80033 Uhh.... No... o.O

  • @Skittywolf WEEWEE!!!!!!!

  • @The80033 Interesting....

  • @Skittywolf actually they were fliming tarzan in the next room and that bird escaped from the set.

  • @cjb4127 Interesting.. Where did you hear that?

  • @Skittywolf were doing a play of the wizard of oz and our director was testing us on random facts like this one and she pointed the bird out to us when we were watching the movie.

  • @cjb4127 I heard from a website.

  • @Skittywolf thats what Im sayin! if thats a hanged midget then i must be Mickey Mouse! seriousely people?

  • Oh my gosh its so obvious that is a fresking bird you idiot!!! You are using your eyes to see right!?

  • its just a bird extending its wings

  • And just for the record, the birds didn't "wander in from another set", as is sometimes thought...they were rented from the LA Zoo to give the indoor set more of an outdoor feel.

  • its obviously a crane opening its wings!

  • @thegordonclan If it was on purpose, then why is'nt it in the later movies? Why have the the bird in one of them, but not in the others? Many people like to have similar settings when they watched a restored movie they loved. So, I really agree with Shortgirl456 on page 2.Sorry,but when you use your common sense,it's pretty easy to figure out.

  • @summerkittykatz - They never edited anything out...I have the 50th anniversary VHS release from 1989, and the scene looks exactly the same...it's nothing more than a crane extending its wings, and you can actually see it wandering around earlier, near the end of If I Only Had a Heart.

  • I agree with Traveteamer15...

  • it looks nothing like someone being hanged?

  • i like trying to find the death and suicide in everything even wizard of oz

  • like are people STILL arguing about this there was a bird from a zoo they brought in and it was just hangin out and got mistaken as a lil guy hanging Oh well get over it world

  • it's a peacock
