Putting Vietnamese sounds and tones together

Very helpful but i think you should make it clear this is the southern Vietnamese. Eg: "Của" but u pronounced "Cũa". If someone learn Vietnamese from a northern Vietnamese teacher, they will surely be confused between "của" and "cũa" watching this video. I think learning on Youtube is just to have more reference, not to learn a language,=

Southern, Da Lat accent

If you learn Vietnamese you'll realise there are 2 main dialects: Northern and Southern. There are also other local dialects such as the Central and North-Central dialects but they are not as common as the other two. The main differences between the Northern and Southern dialects besides some vocabulary is that the Southern dialect is much more recent (less than 1000 years old) and has merged many sounds like the endings -n/-ng, -c/-t etc. There is also a merging of the hỏi and ngã tones.

@viiietdude : I found many vietnamese lessons here with the Southern Accent while Northern one is very rare, think Youtube needs to have more northern accent lessons for people living in the North.

@amymingqiu Youtube may not have many Northern accent materials, but the courses for purchase like Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone are all done exclusively with the Northern accent. In fact, it's very difficult to buy a Vietnamese course with a Southern accent.

I downloaded this program and there was no mention of q,ă,â in the Viet Alpabet ;(. It just covers a - x,and aint vowels letters start from a -y? example aăâeêioôơuưy?U forgot to mention y or this program I got is worng? Anyway great vid and pronounciation ,just wish U do the pronounciation accent and tones for all the vowels and examples. GREAT 5 stars.
