So proud to be GREEK we give so much and we get so a little back...
first language with proper gramma, democrasy, ect ect. You will find more gread monimends Ephesus one of them in todays call turkey, once greek under the great man and king Alexander the Great.
Some of you need to grow up, don't let jealous control your lifes till you die.
@trustmeyou2needhelp The greeks from 2,000 yrs ago gave the world unimaginable wonders but as the saying goes what have you done for me recently?
The modern "ancient Greeks" are the British, from revolutionising philosophy with Hume and Locke, to science and math with Newton and Darwin to inventing the computer, jet engine etc...
2,000yrs from now they will speak of the ancient British, shame their genius is now near expelled as happened with the ancient Greeks.
@boscoesarmy 2,000yrs ago from today, in the first century the Greeks were still producing amazing wonders, for example steam power from Hero of Alexandria (10-70AD).
The Brits are Thieves; give back the statues you stole from the Parthenon. FOR GOD'S SAKE-GIVE THEM BACK!!!!! WITHOUT THE GREEKS YOU WOULD BE NOTHING!!!!!!!
The painting of Phidias showing the Parthanon frieze to his friends at 4:36 is in Birmingham Art Gallery, England. It's by Laurence Alma-Tadema, a Victorian artist who created highly detailed images of the classical world.
His work was also used heavily as a resource for the design of the film "Gladiator".
The quality of this video is very good - wish I could see the whole series.
Nice video, really important for all of us, not just for greeks but for everyone who is interested into world history, architecture and arts. This video though contains some mistakes. First it uses the term Architects to describe those who designed it . The term can not be aplicable as the term architere has not be invented yet. Parthenon an the whole complex of Acropolis was brought together by 3 people. Iktinos, Kalikrates and Fidias.
thank you sooooo much, i had to do a research project on the parthenon and when i saw this clip i was convinced to go looking fo the whole dvd!!! thank you sooooo much for uploding this i would have not been able to complete my project if it wasnt for this clip!!!! and do u no wat the song during this clip is? its so pretty!!!!!!

'Scaped from the ravage of the Turk and Goth,
Thy country sends a spoiler worse than both.
Survey this vacant, violated fane;
Recount the relics torn that yet remain:
These Cecrops placed, this Pericles adorn'd,
That Adrian rear'd when drooping Science mourn'd.
What more I owe let gratitude attest--
Know, Alaric and Elgin did the rest. Byron

You should all watch PBS Secrets of the Parthenon. It is the best documentary so far about the Parthenon.
