It's odd that the "evolution" itself causes shudders in some people. Several months ago, I was talking to a coworker about a TV show and used the word in a non-biological sense. I could tell he had a nails-on-a-blackboard response.
In the spirit of consciousness raising, I'd like to point out that the script is somewhat sexist. All the inventors are male except the "little cave woman" who invented jewelry.
