  • You see, I think any one who listens to (and, thus, LOVES) The Anni has a deep, deep emotional attachment to these songs...

And I have to say, watching the keyboardist poke her boot to the beat was prolly the most "star killer" moment I have ever experienced.

I mean this in a good way, i greatly enjoyed the vid, thx to BlankTV, and mega thanks to The Anniversary.

  • the drums at about 4 minutes or so sound so much like the drums i remember from a get up kids recording, but i cant remember. probably recorded by the same crew.

  • one of the most epic songs ever. i love this so much.

  • fuck advertising!!

  • Like this if you found about this band from Emogame.com

  • @JakeScythe 4 months and im your comment's only like, how sadly that game goes unnappreciated when it can teach so much and is so fucking hilarious

  • I really wish this video embodied the spirit of this amazing, powerful song rather than making a lame attempt at humor.

  • how hott is that keyboardist

  • This should have at least 50 million views

  • A shame they didn't ever manage to top Designing a Nervous Breakdown.

  • This is such a kick ass band and one of their greatest songs, but the vid is "eh?" Still wont stop me rockin' though!

  • New video? Here comes the arguments :)

  • I heard these guys first on Amped for xbox. I had to special order their album from the electric fetus cause I couldnt find it anywhere. This album helped me through some tough times and will last forever

  • sister's coming over ..and I'm afraid to tell her... secrets that I know.

thanks. good luck... I wonder if your band is still together. its a perfect synthesis of sonic youth and blink 182 - unfortunately.

dude.. let the pretty girl sing.

  • This couldn't be further from emo. All you fags need to listen to the "get up kids - mass pike" and you'll see emo.

  • @blink0r you are obviously retarded or deaf. the get up kids and the anniversary toured together all the time. ryan and this chick were even married. if you don't think four minute mile and designing a nervous breakdown are the same genre you need to have your ears checked. maybe you should be the one listening to the get up kids, you obviously forgot how they sounded.

  • some people say this is emo ... is it?

  • @The00orange00 who cares? it's great music

  • Comment removed

  • forget this video/scenes/and emo,,,this is an all time great album.

  • I want to meet Carson Daily!!!!!!

  • funny video + good song, thanks for posting it!

  • adrienne = my first "celebrity" crush.

  • 1000X MELHOR QUE PARAMORE!

  • First LP was great.....

  • i feel their music, rather than listening to it. if more people listened to the anniversary there would be more sensitivity, chivalry, romanticism, resilience, and kindness along with many other things. i hope they see these comments one day far from now and see what we have written, and has a pleasant feeling knowing they undoubtedly effected the lives of people. their music was and still is truly inspirational. this is an endearing comment for a band that still cheers me up years later. <3

  • @acewizard44 go away

  • @johnnoization what are you doin listening to the anniversary? you're a dick. im confused. are you mind fucking me?...::head explodes::

  • no is emo punk ;/

  • how old is this band?

  • fucking classic.

    reminds me of high school.

  • the moral of this story? dont let anyone tell you who you are.

  • That synth lead during the chorus is so fucking choice. This whole record is sick.

  • i loved them. id pop them in when i was making out with girls in my car when i was younger... haha

  • this band is great. great indie rock band, wish i would've seen 'em

  • @JoeIsDead63

I drove for four hours from D.C. to Pittsburgh to see them my senior year in high school. 2003. They were a bunch of assholes. The drummer was a jerk when we tried to talk with him. On of the singers broke the promoter's mic for no reason.

  • @JoeIsDead63 Me too.

  • I loved them.

  • The girl has a beautiful voice, it's a shame they tried to change their style so much, and then broke up and everything.

  • Their lead singer is a teacher at my school :)

  • and yet Lady Gaga has millions. god i hate the world.

  • Pretty good song, this band broke up and one of the members is my teacher, that's how I found out about them

  • Yeah man, Berwanger is the best!!!!

  • dude thats amazing

  • cool and awesome to the max

  • rrrgh...that synth keeps me awake at night it's so catchy

  • wow

  • duly noted, friend. anything with either ian or guy (or both...this is not a fugazi post) pretty much trumps anything else, sans labels.

all that said, i very much like the anniversary. go and view fugazi's performance in dc protesting desert storm, esp. "turnover"...i know you prolly have, but it's a fucking cracker of a performance.

    Rock on.

  • ...which isn't to say that the anniversary rocks my ass, 'cause they do. this vid is tongue-in-cheek, for all you nimrods out there.

  • Neon, You just have to include Ian's Embrace as the heroes of emo, cause Rites and SDRE can'thold a candle to that band.

    :)

    sunset

    BlankTV

    ps- like these kids too

  • @BlankTV thats right!

  • they're not "emo"..."emo" lived and died with rites of spring, with a eulogy by sunny day real estate. any one else claiming that label is just a poseur. and that's THAT.

  • eh....dont rly like it...doesnt seem emo at all to me...anybody recomend a dif song by them?

  • "The D in Detroit."

  • thnx

  • This song came out when 'emo' was not a restrictive style of music. This was back when emo meant EMOtion and emotion didn't mean screaming and eyeliner.

  • My sentiments exactly.

  • @trouz69 I think you have it backwards. Emo grew out of the late 80's hardcore scene and most of the formative bands screamed.

  • @LastDispensation Quite true. I'm not really sure why most of this music got lumped into the "emo" category, to me emo = emotional hardcore, in fact I'm quite sure that's the definition. I'm really not feeling any hardcore roots at all. "Poppy college rock w/synths" is probably more like it. I do love The Anniversary and this song, but I really don't think it is "emo" at all.

  • @LastDispensation Absolutely true.

My comment is over a year old and was aimed at the bands being "marketed" in the mainstream as emo from 2005 until the time of the comment.

Once upon a time (1990 - 2005ish) emo was an amazing freeform genre where a band like Mineral sat alongside Jawbreaker and a hardcore act like Poison the Well was every bit as emo as an experimental band like Cap 'n Jazz.

Somebody necro'ed my comment that was relevant to the tone of the comments a year ago, move along.

  • @trouz69 Emo has never been screaming. Screaming is for Metal and Heavy rock. Emo of now-days is very different from those.

  • @MrMcGale For a selection of classic scream heavy emo bands I would suggest Thursday, Lifetime, Grade, Glassjaw (old stuff), Hopesfall, Boysetsfire, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Poison the Well, Beloved, and so on and so forth.

I again repeat my now year old statement, "...when 'emo' was not a restrictive style of music. This was back when emo meant EMOtion..." That is to say back when your music didn't have to sound a certain way to be classified as "emo" ie. prior to 2005.

  • @trouz69 Emo is all about the lyrics. It's about sad stories, love, broken hearts, suffering, depression, and the list goes on. There are no -real- Heavy Screamo Emo bands. Have you not heard of My Chemical Romance for example? Their lyrics follow those that I just said. Emotional music is the right term, but it changed because of lazy record companies who forgot to write. Sure, they scream in the songs sometimes, but it's not considered as the screwed up scream Heavy bands make.

  • If you can find either of these songs, my favorites are ¨Without Panasos¨ and ¨Until we earned a holiday¨ Theyre pretty awesome!

  • funny video. i like the girls singing but i'm ify on the guys.

  • 3:08 is so funny! Crazy, this video makes me laugh, but this song straight up breaks my heart into a billion pieces.

  • i love this album and the other, but 'designing..' is way better!

    great song! and great post!

  • One of the best albums of all time

  • love this band

  • It's a Jaguar, not a Jazzmaster.

  • Its a Jaguar, not a Jazzmaster.

  • HaHa So Funny Fuck My Ass

  • designing for a nervous breakdown, is SUCH a good album. this video doesn't do them justice, but cool to see it. never knew they used a jazzmaster.

  • i was too little to listen to them. i only just bought their album last month coz it was cheap and i needed new music. haha. turned out to be sooo good. i was so happy. this song is so great to listen to.

  • GWAHAHAHA 2:56 cracks me up
