  • i'm just waiting for the GTX 580m to come to Asus and i will immediately buy it :D

  • Guys the Alienware is so rip off i loved it befor but nooooow it is the Asus g74sx the best of the child west !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WOWWWW ASUS ROCKS !!!!!

  • @liranbas yea, but the new asus computers are said to overheat allot(the new 70 series gaming laptops

  • @alienwareobsessed asus rog g74 and the upcoming g75 have one of the best cooling system. if u actually do a research, the asus g74 temperature is 20% cooler then m18x and 10% cooler then m17x r3. like wise.

  • could someone help me? ,I want to buy a laptop but not what would be best to play video games that require good performance

  • why do you mess up the video with a porn music

  • this laptop sucks compare to any other gaming laptop, OVER PRICED! and it looks ugly

  • so for an extra $200 is the radeon hd 6990m worth it?

  • @GOcgyFLAMESgo Alienware is the worst shit for gaming. Overpriced, looks like starwars toy from toys'r'us, and they are not even BUILD for gaming. Asus G74 is 2000$ cheaper, better graphic card, overclocked processor (the laptop is builded for overclocking so don't worry), it looks a lot better, easy builded for upgrading, cooling system so it doesnt get warm and raised keyboard for better gaming experience.

  • @Catalytera You try to get us to take you seriously and use words like "builded" and "build" instead of built. You also make up ridiculous claims like 2000$ cheaper when the alienware is 500$ more for a gpu of about 2x the performance of the 560M in the ASUS G74. Yes, the 6990 is twice that of a 560M, and does not come with an overclocked CPU. It actually comes with a non-overclocked base i7 and throttled 560M. Please get your facts straight before spreading lies, and use spell check

  • @Gearsguy405 I'm from Denmark so my english sucks... But Alienware is still overpriced shit.

  • @Catalytera Sure sure.... But I still just explained exactly that you get twice the performance for about 500$ more than the ASUS you mentioned, and you still call them overpriced. The G74 is good for a budget gaming notebook, but Alienware is for true performance users, and guess what. With performance comes a higher price, just because something is expensive does not mean its overpriced.

  • @Catalytera It's not shit, they got the best laptops ever. I won a free one a long time ago and I am still happy with it, but yeah they are a little bit overpriced but not that much

  • @Gearsguy405 Alienware is a piece of junk. The GPU does not have a double performance. Its really overpriced. Alienware allways have errors and bad support etc. ASUS G74SX is a way better - and its not overpriced.

  • @MikeTheKiller2212 Lol are you serious? Those are the worst lies Ive ever heard. The 6990M alone brings almost 60% better performance than the 560M (asus gimped version) alone and their support is 10x that of asus. Alienware actually offers hands on support and will send technicians to your house for on site repair. Asus requires anything to be shipped to tawain for 3 weeks.

  • @Gearsguy405 You said it have twice of the performance. Whats that for a lie? And the support really sucks.

  • @MikeTheKiller2212 That's not a lie. Look up the 6990M and 580M? You're basing your information on nothing, or at leaving me no hard facts besides what you probably heard from some ASUS or Mac fanboy or something. The support on phone is crappy, just ASUS, but their actual repairs and service is 10x that of ASUS (Actual in-home repairs vs sending it through international shipping to some country to wait for weeks for it to be fixed).

  • @Gearsguy405 I have several years of PC experience, and all the alienwares i have had so far have sucked (m17x, m18x) They have had alot of problems and a way too low performance, i cant say anymore than you shoudnt buy alienware at all.

  • @MikeTheKiller2212 Yeah, Im sure your dual 6990M or even dual 560M m18x has "way too low performance" than the ASUS G74. I wouldnt be surprised if you're just some kid.

  • @Gearsguy405 I got more PC experience than you will ever get. And im probably also alot older than you.

  • @MikeTheKiller2212 Right, well then you'd at least act more mature than a child. Youre the most ignorant "tech-savvy" person Ive ever met. Im out of here, thread is dildos

  • @Gearsguy405 Alienware sucks. Not anymore to talk about.

  • Oh my God, this laptop is so ugly!

  • @AbovnerPL And clevo sucks deep at graphics because te m17x R3 scord much more at 3dmark11 than the shitty company clevo/sager which isn't not even a unifide company and all other brands such as xmg, sager and other companies share the same dick platform which for me is ugly like hell and the keyboard sucks deep for the money u are paying.

  • @LeePatekar Another thing is that i have a pc with Radeon HD 6850 with only 1 GB. Only 1 GB, and there's only 1 video card. I run Crysis 2 with DirectX 11 Patch with 60 fps and graphic on maximum and screen resolution 1920x1080 full HD. You don't need 2 graphics card to play games, hardware-genius. You can have 2 graphics card with 2 GB each, and a single graphics card with 3 GB that is just as good.

  • @Opadome You're straying. The topic was "R2 is still faster than R3 for pure frame rates". This topic is more than three months old and was true until the GTX 580M became available. R3 wasn't built to be a mobile gaming powerhouse, it was slimmed down and targeted as a good gaming/work laptop. The m18 is the direct successor of the R2 and as such is marketed as the mobile gaming powerhouse. Its funny how most people can't grasp market segments.

  • And for you my friend the m17x R2 scores better because it does not support direct x11 ok so thats why you think it's better because it has less image to process the drectx 10.

  • @LeePatekar Everyone just needs to google m17xr3 and M18x on "images" to see the difference, and it will be the end of the argument.

I will now rest my case and offer no further arguments to an ignorant fool. See ya LeePatekar. You can indulge in further arguments with yourself.

The troll shall be starved (:

  • @reeflux Your the troll friend. Learn how interact with other humans and just maybe you'll start to learn something. I see your mind is stuck on the form factor still. News flash: the R3 is also big and bulky for a laptop, and trust me when I say, you don't want to game with that baby on your legs.

Oh wait, you SHOULD. Do the world a favor ^_^

  • And if you are arguing that just because it has a "single" graphic cards, it's not meant for gaming, then i guess Alienware just scored an own goal because it upgraded a gaming laptop into one that is non gaming. Right.

  • Hey kids, stop the flames and learn to read.

M17xR3 isn't meant for hard core gaming; the R2 fills that role better. Its targeted at multimedia enthusiasts and gaming. Its an idea laptop for work and gaming on the go. It isn't meant to replace your gaming rig.

The upcoming m18x is meant as a direct replacement for the m17xR2 as it will sport two video cards. This will be your "mobile workstation" for LAN party domination. This one will replace your gaming rig.

    Simple no?

  • @LeePatekar well it really depends what u customize it to. i can customize the r3 and blow the r2 out of the water. i can also do that with the r2. and i think people are misunderstood with only "1 video card". you have an option of a nvidia gtx 460 m or a amd 6750. each of these gpu's include 1 intel standard gpu

  • @itsurdaddy456 Two 6970s are better than one. And no 6750 in the R3 and the intel GPU is irrelevant. If you want a gaming powerhouse, you want crossfire or SLI. The R3 is not a gaming powerhouse, but its still a good laptop for gaming (and work). The M18 will be the gaming powerhouse, like the R2 was.

  • @itsurdaddy456 no you cant, the r2 has a strong lead in performane, the r3 has a strong lead in about every other aspect.

  • @quicksliversbutt so your saying the base price of the r2 can beat a custamized 3000 r3? naw i dont think so

  • @itsurdaddy456 idk what the base config is, but the best r2 runs circles around the best r3. the r3 will game, and will game quite well, but the r2 is a true powerhouse.

  • @quicksliversbutt you mean the r2 is a true powerhouse IF 2 gpu's are installed. your really forgetting that in some countries like Canada, where i live, there is no dual gpu option. so that being said, the r3 runs circles around the r3 IN Canada. but yee i totally agree with you, but you have to be more specific

  • @LeePatekar wat kind of fking noob comment is this.. if R3 is a direct upgrade of every specs of R2, then it would be a better version of the same thing.. how can it cease to be a gaming laptop in that respect?

    Think before you speak..

  • @reeflux If your teenage mind ould think a little instead of spewing insults you'd realize the R3 only has a single graphics card. Its quite obvious the R3 is moving away from the "gaming powerhouse" and more towards multimedia and portable workstation duties. They've just released a new laptop, 18 inches, that has dual video cards and is solely aimed at gaming.

Consumer segments, wow, what a concept.

  • @LeePatekar dude.. you can speak all you want.. but the mere notion of you comparing a m18x to a "direct replacement" to a m17xR2 shows that you argument does not hold water.. Have you seen how much thicker a m18x compares to a m17xR2? You might just think it is only the screen that differs, but it's a hella of a difference..

  • @reeflux You think this is their first 18 inch laptop? Stop arguing for the sake of arguing. Why do you think they removed a GPU from the R3? Because they would offer it in the m18 thats why. m18 is now part of the high end segment, m17R3 the mobile workstation / multimedia powerhouse.

  • @LeePatekar 2 graphics cards aren't always better than 1. Dell have their other laptops for multimedia, they are not trying to put Mac hardware in the Alienware gaming laptops, so stfu. It makes no sence to release a gaming laptop that is worse than the previously versions. R3 is obviously faster and runs games more smooth than R2.

  • @Opadome Two graphic cards are always better than one, unless you buy budget hardware. If you're making a powerhouse you add two cards. When they opted to remove a card in M17xR3, it meant the R3 wasn't designed as a pure gaming laptop.

Just look at alienware's current lineup. M18x, fastest gaming laptop. M17x multimedia/gaming high end. M14x Multimedia and gaming, low end.

R2 still rocked the FPS charts until m18x and GTX 580M were released. So take your teenage "stfu" and stuff it.

  • @Opadome Oh and kid, just head on over to notebookcheck and compare the 3D mark scores of the R2 vs the R3. I'll let you guess which is faster for gaming.

    (2 video cards FTW)

  • @LeePatekar "2 video cards FTW" ... you sound like a teenage fanboy, lol. 1 graphics card with 3 GB is better than 2 with 1.5 GB. Do some researches, notebookcheck are not right every time, "kid".I know it cause i have seen it in real life, unlike you who saw it on a website, lol. Grow up.

  • @LeePatekar The only reason for why you say R2 is better than R3 is because that you have a R2 and you can't afford the R3 and are jealous. Looser.

  • @Opadome Actually, had you taken time to read my comments you'd know I own both (or owned I should say). The argument "larger model number == better in every way" is retarded, especially when the product in question changed market segments. (You know what that means right?)

Grow up kid, step out of your mothers basement and go see the world.

  • @LeePatekar i love how your naive mind lets you think that a better graphics card, processor, ram, screen etc makes something less of a gaming machine... even m17xr3 at its lowest configuration is better than the r2..

and m18x is way too huge, i didnt buy m18x cause of that and opted for the m17xr3..

you disgust me with your weak attempt to mislead the readers..

  • @reeflux I'm not misleading anyone. Properly configured the R2 beat out the R3 in gaming benchmarks. If you want a pure gaming laptop, the best of the best, you want the m18, not the m17xR3. If your more of a budget gamer who can't afford two video cards in your laptop, then sure grab the 17. Heck, the 15 is also a contender depending on your usage.

I suggest you seek out a psychiatrist. Disgust? Try meditating, it may help your rotten attitude.

  • @LeePatekar Lol that's a joke.. so i guess ppl should go for a M17xR2 when M17xR3 is supposed to be an upgraded version of the R2?

Enough said. You are a nut. Your incessant use of bombastic vocabulary does not make you seem more intelligent my friend. It just makes you more like a fool.

I will not continue an argument with someone who is maintaining that a upgraded model is lousier than a previous model, and that a machine which is much bulkier than the m17xr2 is a "direct replacement"

  • @reeflux Actually yes, I know a few who opted for the R2 over the R3. Since the m18 was released R2 is no longer available. If you want high frame rates for mobile gaming (for competitions for example), the R3 isn't the best choice.

Your personal taste (and immaturity) will not change that.

  • @reeflux bombastic? You must be fun at parties. Your mind also works in absolutes. I never said R2 was better at everything, its only best for framerates. At least it was when it was available. I have the R3 by the way, for work. The 18 is on its way to replace my aging R2. So yes, I know what I'm talking about.

    Do you?

  • CAN I SWEAR TOO? :D FUCK SHIT TITS ASSHOLE MOTHERFUCKER YAAAY IM FITTING IN! :D

  • M18x? hahahaha LMAO! the digit represents the inches of the laptop. wtf's with 18?

you think it represents the version? hahaha

  • It's now plastic and 1 video card. Lame as fuck, let's just wait for the M18x.

  • @Chihang256 dumb as there is no 18x!, and u can get 2 GPU's

  • @TRAMAeagle dumb ass? I am currently holding the M17x r2, with 5870cf in it.

Have you even open up the case and say r3 can insert 2 cards?? Show me the option. or stop bullshit around.

M17xR3 does not contain second graphic card slot, do your research before you say thinks like that or people will laugh. Why do you think there is still room to improve mobility at the same time contain 3 memory slots? The case is plastic compare to my aluminium case. This is cheap shit.

  • @Chihang256 you have R2, It was recalled for this issue and a processor issues, So, Stfu u bitch

  • @TRAMAeagle bullshit. Sandy bridge chipset flaw was so yesterday. It has already came back with AMD. 6970. R3 replaced R2. My R2 are getting 3d06 20652 mark without any overclocking. Sandy bridge + 6970M does not even close to what R2 are getting. Just admit you don't have any idea of wht you talking about. We will see in the future, if a 2 cards machine is coming out or not. R2 can not support 2 100W cards you son of a twat.

  • @Chihang256 it was not an AMD, It was an intel so fuck off

  • @TRAMAeagle What the fuck are you talking about omfg... Sandy Bridge chipset flaw, problem has been fixed, cpu problem has been fixed and r3 came back with new graphic card called AMD 6970, simple thing like this how can you not understand... plz just go on the website and learn. You know nothing about it I am tired of teaching you stuff..

  • How much does it weigh

  • @icekatana7 Almost 15 Lbs, Mine weighs 13.53 lbs

  • i hope the hinge works :)
