I bought some and they will arrive in 2 days, i was wondering, do they arrive super colorful or do they brighten up after a few days. what do you think. I'm sure they might me a bit pale due to the trip, but do they eventually brighten up? and I'm going to have them in my comunity tank with cardinal tetras and guppies, and a few other snall fish, will some of my babies still make it? i was just wondering because i don't wana over stock if so i can sell the babies. what do you think? thank you!:)
@ciciironwill27 these shrimp didnt get too red, but i put some in a 20g dwarf puffer tank and they turned bright red. i don't know why, maybe it's because the ones in the puffer tank were in darker surroundings. i think the females are more red. also, they need weekly water changes to give them the minerals/nutrients they need to build their exoskeletons well. you should introduce new shrimp to your tank every 4 months or so, so they don't get too inbred and die. other than that, they are easy!
The weather in Hanoi, Vietnam now is a bit cold. 20-24*C, it's cool for shrimps and mosses. At this time I have 30 men and a lot of moss, only two kinds which I call Java Moss and Brazin moss. Hope that I have 60 babies like yours, heh. My tank is only 22l, too small. I am gonna buy a larger one but it's very expensive.
I have so many snails too, lol. But I think they can live well with shrimps and I keep most of them alive. Sometimes, I kill 2 or 3 snails and shrimps like eating their friends, huh.
Oh, careful. I faced with this problem two weeks ago and now I still don't know why they disappeared. Sometimes, I see some babies appear but only 50% of them can live through 2 first months of their lives. I mean 20 babies at first but only 8 to 9 alive, I don't know about the other, they disappeared but they looked very strong.
yeah maybe they just die. i still blame my snails, though. there are so many that even if i take out 15-20 i don't even make a dent in their population!
Do you have more moss, add all moss as much as you have. All shrimps like this. They also eat food as well as something I don't know on moss I added. I have 3 tanks, the second biggest is Red Cherry Tank. 30 or 40 members and they always hide on the moss.
i've only got 3 since they were pretty expensive. i've also planted some plants and put more rocks in for hiding spaces :) ALL of my shrimps have had babies and i can easily count about 60 babies. i started with 21 adults!
i've since added more rocks to this tank. there are lots of crevaces they can hide in. i did consider that they need places to hide when i chose to not put plants in, but i wanted a sort of rock garden feel to the tank. i'm not sure if they need more coverage, but a few are pregnant, so that must mean that i'm doing something right (maybe)! :)

I have to have a heater in my tank, it keeps the water at 78F, otherwise it would be room temperature in winter which is about 65F. too cold!
unfortunately, my snails also like the heated water and now i have more snails than shrimp...

my shrimps have been mysteriously disappearing, so i think the snails are eating them. so i feed the evil snails to my pufferfish ^^

i think you should add a few more plants for hidding, cause the shrimps might get scared sometimes being always in the opening
