Are you sure? I think in John's last interview, before he was murdered, he complained about the B-52's. He said that he went into a club and they were playing a B-52's song. It was either Planet Clair or Rock Lobster, I think. Anyway, he claimed that the band had plagiarized Yoko's unique screaming style.
Purists may disagree with the presence of the horns, but I like 'em a lot. Nothing will take the place in my memory of the Plymouth Satellite, pink air, and the seven stars that shine after 3:30 in the morning. Deeply meaningful!
Yeah, the horns. I saw them at the Park West in Chicago in the 'seventies without the horns at their purest, but if you grew up with the nauseating excesses of the sixties that they were jabbing at you get it. The horns are are A OK. I totally agree with you. The '52's have never faltered. they make this heterosexual conservative SOB smile without fail for thirty years!
This has that very cool "old sci-fi" sound that I like. No wonder "Monsters vs Aliens" used it!!

Correction, 70s song. Their first album came out in 1979 and John Lennon said it was his all time favorite album.

It was Rock Lobster and after hearing it he was inspired to get back to writing music.

John who?---you mean that -has been Beatle guy that got really strange with the oriental gal.
TheRealInvaderZim 3 years ago
Sure, I saw them do this live in '79, but it was a standard party song, like Rock Lobster, for years afterwards.

The basic loop of the instruments sounds just like the theme to Peter Gunn; the same theme used in the original "Blues Brothers" movie.

They used this music in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle"!!!
