I wonder how many of those 200 executions were recommended for clemency by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles?
If the Board votes against clemency, the Governor has no independent power to commute the sentence. The Governor can only commute a death sentence upon the recommendation of the Board of Pardons and Paroles.

The GOP has no credibility on the issue of fiscal responsibility. They want the American people to forget the eight years of the Bush Administration and the RECORD deficit under him. Interestingly enough, the GOP only became "concerned" about deficits on 1/20/09.

I completely agree!!! Death Penalty is the best deterrent against violent crime. IMO - only those people whose family/loved ones havent been murdered or slaughtered will sit behind the idealist idea that death penalty is more evil than the evil its trying to prevent...thats a load of crap!!!
