@MandarinFirefly Go to Kaposmérő, Somogy Megye, Hungary, there you can pratice or even buy a bow like his... P.S.: In addition, Kaposmérő is his headquarters!
Quite fast, but you can See that He shoot a glasfibre bow. No real Archer, who has a handmade selfbow or real composite bow just Throw the bow on the Ground, After Shooting...
@The95Genni - they don't come more real than him. In any case he makes his own bows, they are synthetic because they last longer and you can throw them on the ground, or fall from your horse and they survive, but this is not what the video is about. It's about stance and attitude and a way of life.
@The95Genni I was just wondering that the way he threw the bow makes you realise how much of a fighter he really is. i would never thow my bow like that'cause its art for me...(though I have a type that has his (Kassai's) trademark on it so I guess it would survive. But its not just art for him, its his life his fight his everything. He believes in archery, he lives in this, he is a fighter... And fighters could not be cautios about their bows that would have them killed in battle.
imagine this rate of fire combined with 20000 angry hun warriors from horseback, they even dont need to sheeth their sabres or poleaxes the rain of deadly arrows annahilates or flees all enemy
@ramans11 - read comments from before "it's part of the horseback archery practice ... it mimics the rise and fall of a galloping horse. Also it is significantly more difficult to practice fast loading and shooting while doing that as well ... I would think it raises the stakes quite a bit .."
@mrbigpd - what do you mean exactly ? He is using a quiver when riding to carry 60+ arrows. But whenever he is shooting he is holding in his hand exactly what is required. Drawing from the quiver takes more time and is not practical in horseback archery since you are changing your position on the horse and this affects the riding part. You can see in other videos the use of quiver which is always in the break between rounds.
@mrbigpd - you are absolutely right, but I believe he does what he does for himself, not for people to like him/it or not. It's his life. For some reason you feel challenged about him .... go and meet him and have a true opinion for the man. I met him, read his books, bought his bows and practiced with him and I really appreciate the experience.
The huns historically took a bunch of arrows from the quiver and held the arrows that way using their fingers for faster shooting, while on horseback for that matter. They and we aren't elves like Legolas.
If you want stupid, go consult a physics major about how and why shooting multiple arrows at once will reduce the power of every arrow to a mere pea shooter.
@blakfalcon1 - it's part of the horseback archery practice ... it mimics the rise and fall of a galloping horse. Also it is significantly more difficult to practice fast loading and shooting while doing that as well ... I would think it raises the stakes quite a bit ... try it !
@hirsutesimia I do not know Kassias bows but guesss its 34 to 37 lbs my sons is 21 lbs we are makeing a Samurai hibread bows soon that will be up there in lbs
for hitting the target my son if he is on his game can hit bulls eyes 5 time out of 6 now and he can do it jumping 3foot 3 and in mid flight still hit the bulls eyes as per our last 3 videos take a look
he's mimicking horse archery on foot, shooting to his left, he moves up at down to mimic his movement while the horse under him gallops. i think it's between when the horse's hooves hit the ground he's at the bottom of his bending movement and when the horse lifts its hooves again he would be at the top of his bending movement, that is when he releases the arrow, please correct me if i am wrong
lajos kassai how did u learn to shoot like that and i just bought a mongol horse bow from toth, wat shooting style do u reccomend me to do to become as good as you
Ez jó gyakorlat. Kiválóan erősíti a belső combizmokat. Lajos a lovasíjászat tanítási folyamatában alkalmazza ezt a gyakorlatot mielőtt lóra engedne. Beszarsz tőle 10 km terepfutás után. :)
for horseback archery the arrow is always on the outside of the bow , people who shoot from the right side gallop the course end-to-start... but for plain archery, there are many styles in the world ....
For a right handed shooter, do you guys shoot off of the left or right side of the bow?? It seems most shoot off of the right while the English tradition is to shoot off of the left..??

I have to questions ..
#1. Where can you buy bows, like the one he uses, does he manufacture bows for sale ?..
#2. When I visit my family in Hungary is there a chance to attend archery classes with him ?..

You know .... he is an internationally acclaimed Master and holder of numerous records.
I suggest to choose better words and a more polite approach next time.

of corse it can be done better!
congrats' 'bout the records!
lots of people acclaimed some leaders along history, that does not mean they are doing the right thing.

@mrbigpd This is how he gets off 12 shots in 17.8 seconds, on horseback, and hits all 12 thrown disks.
By the time YOU reach to quiver-get arrow-pull out-move to bow... you would have 2 possibly 3 stupid arrows in you.

robinhoodfromhun: A videón látható személy nem Kassai Lajos, így akár dobálhatja is az íjat.
There is no thumbring in the style of Kassai, and we (a right handed shooter) shoot off the left side of the bow.

Le a kalappal előtte. Ha annak idején nem kezdi el, valószínűleg én sem lennék ma íjász.
Azért muszáj egy kicsit elégedetlenkednem....rendben van hogy ő készítette azt az íjat, de így eldobni....

It depends what style do you release. Fingers or thumbring. With tumbring it is right side but with fingers it is usually the left side.
