Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Cross. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
That's an Ovation roundback acoustic electric guitar isn't it....
I was looking at that guitar at my local guitar shop and it stared at me like I stared at it. It was just a must-have guitar... you know that look you just give a guitar and you say it's perfect.
hey rising, i've looked you up agian after a long while. I remember I first found you when you released the karma cover. I was really impressed by your channel, and still am.
this video, means alot to me. not only is it your only video with an acoustic (i think), but it reminds me of the past, and gives me a feeling of nostalgia. For that, I thank you.
This has really made my day, and I hope to see some more of these in the future. ^^
are u kdding me this guy sucks dick! anyone can do this shit man. fuken get a song and play over it with guitar cmon thats no skill. Theres actually ppl on utube that play their own renditions of songs rather than dubbing them with with shit thats already there. seriously cmon this guys suks dik
that's so sad how people can't even feel that video game music is one of the most amazing things...and i am as well glad that you included motoi sakuraba in your description. I wanna became a video game soundtrack composer someday even know that i'll live in the shadows...thanks for your guitar playing, that was awesome. 5/5 and favorited
just hearing this song alone makes me want to restart chrono cross just to hear this song. and after i beat chrono trigger for the millienth time. great discription on the side..and its sad that its true.
Holy shit, nice writing in the description dude. I totally understood what you meant about unsung Japanese videogame composers, the lack of acknowledgment of anything other than "Japan's cultural domestics," etc.
man this is one intense discussion. im not gonna get into the commentary on the right, but i will say this. your guitar sounds great but those slender bodies are terrible. it musta slid off your lap and needed readjustment about 15-20 times.
you wrote in the description box that most legendary games have legendary soundtracks. ill bet you play your legendary games a lot. you must have heard the music for those legendary games a lot have you not? its legendary because you played the game a lot, and the music is like "wow i remember that area in the game it was fun wowowowow i love this songggg." i am the same.
oh my god i am through arguing with you, you seem to be unable to grasp the point that subjectivity makes a poor judge
my personal experience with games is not what makes a game legendary, evidence being that i've played a ton of shitty games. that is quite possibly the dumbest statement i've ever read.
please, stop constructing these cheap arguments, or i will simply remove your comments. attempting to educate you has proven to be comparable to explaining the concept of light to a blind man
music from games is only fun when you have heard the song/played the game a 100 times, and then later on it brings back good memories. music is underappreciated because on average people dont play games 100 times, so yes... a lot of people have played mario so the theme for the old school mario is loved by like everybody
big words. I have had actual experience with my statement, and their is nothing you can do to change it. Remember the Soulja Boy song? yea that was the most overrated piece of crap in the world. everyone heard it so everyone liked it. everyone heard it a million times more. Now their is a spongebob crank dat soulja boy with 50 million views.
MUSIC SOUNDS GREAT WHEN YOU HAVE HEARD IT A LOT IN THE PAST!
and that ridiculous paragraph of yours makes NO point as well
nostalgia skews your perceptions, that is an unarguable truth that has zero to do with whether you have had actual experience or not.
this is the thing: you are not perceiving the song itself, but rather your fond memory of it, and the two invariably bleed together as you confuse them for one another
Actually Zin, He has a point, Now Granted what you had to say was true. Some people hate hearing new music because of the fact they don't know it. But Most people hear a song, and automatically know they will love it. But Rising has a point as well. Nostalgia is merely a memory of what you did when the song or that smell was around you. And It doesn't mean you like the song, You like what it Symbolizes. All in all, Rising, You are really good at guitar man, and Zin, Lighten up and have fun.
i clueless as to how to argue against that irrelevant analogy
the added stimuli you get from listening to a song with nostalgic value is not musical in nature. the song does not, it CAN NOT sound "better", because nostalgia CAN not add musical dimensions! you are appreciating it MORE since it is a relic of your past
my point is this: nostalgia totally fucks with the validity of opinions, why is that so hard to grasp
Risings right, there are many games with music which is so good that for that reason i have played. for example, i first played the kingdom hearts 2 because i heard a song (i believe its name was 13th struggle) and instantly fell in love. Also When i hear songs from games i have never played (eg chrono cross as in this vid) i still find that it is a great piece.
Hey man! We talked quite awhile back on your site's forum, just wanted to check and see how you're doing. It's always great to find someone who sees the great composition behind "video game" music, hope to see some more vids soon
I think one thing to say to your description will suffice: You are correct, sir. In my experience on this Earth, the men you named and a few more, are some of the greatest men to ever live.
It's weird isn't it? I feel that way about this too. I know it's just a "video game" but man, back in the day when I played this game, Chrono Cross, the music has always stuck with me. I've associated music to time periods of my life, like my musics tastes, or in this case - the music of this game. Call me crazy huh.
you know, as we all do, this game and its music leaves a big imprint in our lives, i can remember each place in the game by the music played there. its not what i would call weird, its something im perfectly fine with:)
I've never heard or played anything like chrono cross in my life, and everytime I hear the music or something remotely like it, it makes me think.
Such a huge impact of music shouldn't go to waste. I don't get how people can't love this game. It's deep to the level where you can barely call it a game anymore. It's a story.
May even be Square's greatest work. Sad thing is that not many people know of it.
:O awesome! chrono cross has been my all time favorite game since i discovered it when i was younger, unfortunately my discs got all messed up and now i cant find it anywhere to re-buy it :(
have always loved the game since I was 10 or smthing, have always loved the music in it too....though i've never given it much thought except to download it cuz it's so good. But I think that most of the music in games are part of eat makes it so gud....I wouldn't like a game with sucky music...

Beautiful. This was performed very well. This is definitely up there as one of Mitsuda's best works. BTW, what kind of acoustic is that? I couldn't really tell.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hmm your right then ill show u how much of a noob he really is besides i was gonna make a vid on here anyway and the first to burn u and him is a great idea.
I've always loved this song. As a major fan of Square's games. I enjoyed this song in Chrono Cross many times.
But thats nothing compared to your music, your skills are masterful, it makes me find out a whole new appreciation for this song. Bravo, bravo on a job well done.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
sigh honestly.. what u r doing is a piece of cake and is pretty boring. if ur going to "rewrite" some of these songs at least add some rythm and improv in your guitar part and not immitate the flute's part. seriously i think u can do better than that and no fuk ups please.
Lol dude, are you serious? You're attempting to pigeonhole my entire musical persona through analysis (and a terrible one at that) of ONE video? Are you really that narrow-minded or does your brain just skip the thinking process before you talk?
Here are some videos for you: Bloody Tears, Esperanto, and Clock Tower Stage.
As you can see, MOST of what I do IS improvise. Lmfao.
First off this is an a great cover and differs from what you normally do. Variety is the spice of life :)
Second I want to say that I really like some of your video descriptions. Some are generic. Others are short but you are still able to express your passion for the piece and/or composer.
And then there are your long descriptions such as the one here which someone rightfully compared to an essay. It was very thoughtful and an unfortunately accurate commentary on the subject :P
Hey peter kim! Thanks for responding on my vid. ;) i haven't had a response on anything in a long time! (I also deleted all my other vids, so it wasn't really surprising really.)
Well, it's nice looking at your page again, wow over a million viewers ! :O you must be loved! (justified because of your playing skills obviously, as the viewers can see in this amazing video).
hmmm...that weaboo comment was hilarious actually. i like many aspects of japanese culture, i'm a black female, and i think miyavi, gackt, and other girl-men like that are really scary.
fav song on the piano...underwater palace from chrono trigger. Mitsuda rocks!
People don't realize that one of the reasons Final Fantasy 7 is so memorable is the music behind it. Aeris's death wouldn't have been so tragic without her theme behind it.
The truth of the matter is if you can't listen to "Liberi Fatali" and be moved inside, you really don't know anything about music. There aren't many musicians who can use electronica, acoustic, classical piano, rock, orchestra, and many other genres as fluidly as Nobuo does. He's the Dream Theater of video games, haha.
I will join you in keeping the art of video game music, especially the old songs alive. Not many seem to understand the emotional connection you can have with a song. During a favorite scene, or a tragic moment, songs in video games have a lot of impact. So much so, one develops a love for them, a love for the good times and bad. I like how you did an amazing rendition of this song for your 100th video. It's so well placed in many ways. May the music from games live on forever!
Ive developed love for songs by Mitsuda and Uematsu as I have any other artists I enjoy!!!! Long live Mitsuda and Uematsu!!!!! These guys will be known like Japans Bach or Beethoven!
i know what you mean man. I love videogame music. Alot of the greatest music i found was in rpgs. Ever listen to the Black Mages? i bet you have lol. Im glad you see things this way though and it is a shame that this music is underexposed. Lots of respect.
Well said my friend. Video game music is a gem, eff Rap and techno and pop that all sound actually the same song to song. This stuff is unique, and not just because of the special place the game holds in our hearts.
You're right. One thing I love about games is the music that composers will go to major lengths just to give us a satisfying thing to listen to. Thank you for the melody. :)
Man, I've listened to this daily for the past week or so...and I've just had to comment. Ever time I hear it I get goosebumps...you are an amazing musician. Keep it up.
i love Chrono cross, the music, the gameplay, the graphics, its all great. and to have all thies songs replayed on a gutar that i can watch on youtube just makes me want to cry. i had to stop the Unstolen Jewel song becouse of that. great game, great music. this is one game that i would recomend and as you can hear, the music is kick ass.
Superb. Makes me think about that acoustic I had that sounded great for 3 months until it got like 4 hairline cracks in it. I'll learn this song soon, I need to learn some soothing stuff.
you should rerelease this to just you playing. i wanna hear the guitar solo. though, i never thought id ever hear myself asking to hear a guitar solo.

this one's really beautiful Peter... Of how much energy some of your songs have, I wouldn't expect you to almost make me cry...

Sincerely, Foxon. (But ya, it is amazing...)

I've always loved this song. As a major fan of Square's games. I enjoyed this song in Chrono Cross many times.
But thats nothing compared to your music, your skills are masterful, it makes me find out a whole new appreciation for this song. Bravo, bravo on a job well done.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
sigh honestly.. what u r doing is a piece of cake and is pretty boring. if ur going to "rewrite" some of these songs at least add some rythm and improv in your guitar part and not immitate the flute's part. seriously i think u can do better than that and no fuk ups please.
juliojrc 3 years ago

Fang000 3 years ago
Haha, thanks a lot man. I'm rewriting a lot of them because like you said, some of them are really generic.
Hopefully none of the more recent ones (as I've rewritten those..)? :P
xRisingForcex 3 years ago
None of the recent ones are generic lol.
And once again awesome cover.
Fang000 3 years ago
Nice job did you use the video description from a school essay? It was nicely written and so was your performance. You inspire me.

I wish you and your future carreer all the best.
Goodluck and best wishes,

hmmm...that weaboo comment was hilarious actually. i like many aspects of japanese culture, i'm a black female, and i think miyavi, gackt, and other girl-men like that are really scary.
fav song on the piano...underwater palace from chrono trigger.

Well said my friend. Video game music is a gem, eff Rap and techno and pop that all sound actually the same song to song. This stuff is unique, and not just because of the special place the game holds in our hearts.

"girls just wanna see some transgendered fags like Miyavi in a visual kei band to satisfy their bisexual lusts."
I find that hilarous as hell.
Also secret of mana has some beautiful music. By any chance you think you can do a cover for one of there songs.

You're right. One thing I love about games is the music that composers will go to major lengths just to give us a satisfying thing to listen to. Thank you for the melody. :)
