Actually I've been reading a very interesting book - Europe Transformed, by Norman Stone, which tells how toward the end of the 19th Century Liberals (or Whigs) were the dominating Political party and responsible for Capitalism as we know it in the UK today! Ruddy Tories steal all their policies, then Labour get 'em 2nd hand! :-)
Red Dwarf back to earth was amazing great to see you back as Kryten really hope to see a new Red Dwarf series hopefully 9,10 and more really great seeing the crew back together lister, cat, rimmer. just wondering what happened to holly probably will explain if you make a new series anyway amazing made me laugh loads like the old dwarf
agreed, although since the specials happened after the fictitious series 9 and 10, i want to see (as in get some new episodes on Dave see) season 11 kick in!! Holly's CPU took in 20 gallons of water after Lister left a bath on in the captain's quarters. but yea, the special was AMAZING!!! missed you Dwarfers!!! cant wait for (hopefully) more red dwarf, and more wet liberal's and car pool's!!! cheers Bobby =D =D
i would like to say major congratulations to you and the whole cast and crew of red dwarf back to earth. i totally loved it! really hope it kicks off a new project for you all. really missed you guys together. well done from all your fans!!XXX
I've always thought of wet liberals as people who get tied in knots by their own excruciating reasonableness and ability to see things from other peoples point of view as well as their own, they tend to be very caring and empathic but unable to do much because they are tied in knots.
BTW, thank you (additionally) for explaning things as you do; like what 'wet' means and what the various newspapers represent. Being I am not British, it makes things much clearer.
also I can't belive you'd admit to reading the daily mail?! That paper is only marginally more informative than the sun, it's like a pretend broadsheet for people who want to feel smart
Haha, the shameless Carpool plug was well worth it because I like the theme, and it was great to see Sir Sean Connery.
Ive just finished watching the new Red Dwarf special (roughly) and I wanted to say I think you, Danny, Craig and Chris, along with Doug and all the crew and people involved did an excellent job. Ive not always totally agreed with Red Dwarf in regards to series 7 & 8, but its fantastic to see you guys back and on great form. Cant wait till tomorrow! Great work Rob!
I think im going to draw a wet liberal, a fish flapping around out of water comes to mind lolz ^_^ thanks for the new Red Dwarf btw I CANT SMEGGING WAIT!
that was a dodgey go at putting Bonds head on.. was it Mitchells body? The voice was really good though. Who did it? You should try and get David Tennant and Russel T Davis on it. How about Ross Noble? Anyhow thanks for the update. Abit over twitter.
Not so worried about WLW as we know you've been hard at work on very important matters. Can't wait 'til Friday for new Red Dwarf - I'm like a 8 year old in the week before Xmas.
Be wet! As Jesus said, "The meek shall inherit the earth"
The left/right thing is largely a farce. It's really just a gradient of psychological profiles from the collectivist (charitable) to the individualist (protective). Only the the far left/right talks about peace and equality.
I am an Anarchist, which is kind of like saying, "I am a human" or "I am a complex alignment of cells forming an autonomous animal life-form"
BOBBY, i know it would probably wind up being a remorseless waste of time for you, but just for the extra geek factor couldn't you rig up a carpool interview with yourself?
I think that's an ingenious idea... I'm sure he could find someone to give him a hand with recording it. Wouldn't be easy though... Especially to make it look convincing.
Have you considered going "Co-op"with your channel? Perhaps your wet liberal weekly could expand into an international perspective. I nominate myself. "smily face"
David Harvey (2005) A Brief History of Neoliberalism (Oxford UP) -Neoliberalism is the economics that has its origins in the thinking of Milton Friedman and his 'Chicago boys', who first tried their ideas out on Pinochet's Chile. It was then adopted by Reagan and Thatcher (remember Maggie was pals with Pinochet? - that's why). It's generally contrasted to Keynsian or Neo-Keynsian economics (which is generally more regulated by The State). See also consumerism.
Thanks for the explanation. I thought I knew what you meant by wet liberal, but evidently I didn't. It's so hard to categorise a political stance these days, isn't it?
Incidentally, loving the work on Carpool, and the new titles are cracking. What's the piece of music you use?
Some might call them "Libertarians", but they're *too* open to other points of view.
Me? I tend to think politics is the art of compromise brought to the extremes of being an opinionated SOB who'se so sure they know what's best for everyone else.
Thanks for defining "wet" for us Yanks! I wasn't sure if it meant "wimpy" or "hypocritical". Now I get that it sorta covers both "wimpy" and "wishy washy". I think I am pretty darn wet myself!
And dont be all wishy-washy, wet liberal and guilt ridden about the possibility of posting too much: Oooh, who am I that people should want to listen to me? Bollocks! Its good stuff, Bob, and youre amassing a legion of loyal wets. Anyway, theres so much crap on YouTube a bit more wont matter (joke).
Seriously though, Id happily watch a Wet Liberal Daily, so keep churning them out. We have been and we will be.
Here's my definition of "wet" Tony FUCKING Blair Margaret FUCKING Thatcher Ronald FUCKING Reagan Gordon FUCKING Brown George FUCKING W Bush George FUCKING HW Bush Prescott FUCKING Bush
If you say ANY of those things, you're sane. If you're sane, you're a wet liberal. Piece of piss. :)
You're a legend, Rob, any wet liberals you make are brilliant, don't worry if you're not making them as often as you'd like to be - one a month would be awesome as far as I'm concerned.
<3
Btw - there's some Red Dwarf videos going around on Youtube, I think they've been taken from the Dave channel, but they spelt Kryten as "Kryton".
Nice ramblings on Wet Liberals!
