  • A classic, immortalized on film and a movie I will show my kids, my nephews and my nieces for them to pass on to their kids.

    Take care, Mr Reno.

  • They never could have picked a better Alec..

Kelly was a natural. He is a truckdriver these days.. amazing.

    Thanks, nice upload.

  • If there is anyway to send a message to Kelly I would appreciate it if anyone could help me here. I am a disabled person and would love to write to Kelly. he did a movie with John Savage ,Hosszú vágta, also called The Long Ride, I love this movie. Its his best easily.

  • Recognized Kelly right away because of his eyes :)

    A true horseman :)

  • Just to wanted to clear up any confusion-this video was filmed at Arabian Nights dinner attraction in Orlando Florida. Kelly was in town volunteering for the Black Stallion Literacy Program -a program that uses the classic children books of Walter Farley and the magic of live horses to motivate kids to read. The black horse in the video was never portrayed in the clip as the actual horse in the movie but he does play a special role in the magical reading program and of course is a performer in

  • wow why don't ppl leave the guy alone, he is a real person not alec! That was just a movie and not his real life story geez! People aren't the character you see in the movies in real life, that is why they are called actors! It is just a role they play! stop living in a fantasy world ppl!!!

  • Just an FYI for all. The horse in the video is NOT Kelly's horse. The horse was one of the horses that portrays the Black Stallion at the Arabian Nights dinner theatre in FL where this video was filmed. The horse was used as a prop for the video, that's all. I know as I was at AN when this video was made.

This is how rumors and misinformations begin. From not knowing all the facts and then things get passed around and the truth gets completely lost. Things aren't always as they appear to be.

  • I had that book. I remember it so clearly--

the back with him, the horse and a rainbow...

  • Holy cow, Kelly really is a horse lover in real life and he's standing next to a black stallion in this video no less! How incredible that his most famous movie role reflects his real life as well. Probably why they chose him for the role come to think of it. Great to see him all grown up and he seems like a real nice guy as well. I just saw the Black Stallion again today and it still ranks as one of my favorite movies of all time.

  • what is the website they are refering to? and the book is called?

  • @hardmarley I believe it is the Black Stallion picture book. You can occasionally find it on Ebay. And the website is theblackstallion.

  • I watched The Black Stallion several times while growing-up - it was just an amazing moving! I watched it for the first time as an adult with my kids tonight and just cried my eyes out during the flashback to the beach scene during the race. I really loved the depth of the relationship Alex had with Black in the movie - so touching and sweet. I really hope Kelly is doing well and if he is doing any of the social networking sites - I would love to find-out and follow him as a fan. Thank you!

  • My 16 month old just went crazy over the Black Stallion. Never paid attention to the TV before but the match race hooked him along with the boy and the black cavorting on the island during the closing credits.

Glad to see Kelly still around horses. As he has a way with them.

  • It's ironic. When Kelly was a boy, I thought he seemed preternaturally, disturbingly adult - a manchild who was at once disarmingly vulnerable and deceptively powerful. Now, as a man, he seems equally ambiguous, as if, although grown and clearly an adult, there appears to be something of a child within him that never did grow up.

    I'll bet he's a really nice guy.

  • That Kelly Reno does sure looks the same as well. When the camera went up close he does look the same.

  • @amycallie123 Yeah I totally agree, although the mustache and long hair was something to get used to. But great to see him well and in good shape....and still with horses!

  • @amycallie123 Yes, he looks SO the same! And his voice too, very very distinctive.

  • I loved the black stallion movies, freaked me out seeing him on this. My little girl sat and watched it with me today, First she didn’t want to see it, now she can’t stop watching it.... I love it! It really sucked about his accident. The world is not fair that is for sure, but we can always look back at his work and think. What a wonderful movie.

  • Kelly, are you on facebook? Why don't you do a biography of your experience. Then would could ask all sorts of questions you could answer in your book. This person metions your website. Can you post it for us?

  • Can't get enough of this being a horse lover, so many questions I would have.....those were the old days, when you really did the stunts a lot of the time so was fun to hear about that. Little freckle face, so cute.

  • Never get tired of watching this movie, you were so cute. So well done. Always wondered about that little boy on the beach, and the trivia behind the movie.

  • This movie made me want to be an actor when I saw it as a kid.. simply Great!

  • Wow I love him in the movie black stallion and he still loves horses!

  • Wow thats mad great vid.I want to know more though..is that a relation of cass-ole in the clip or is it just some black horse they got for it? Is kelly still riding horses..? I didn't recognize him straight away he obviously doesn't want people recognising him and prob wants a quiet life

  • @ainegalach Yeah he is private and yes rides western and lives in the midwest. He is a truck driver and that is what he does. Very friendly and would say a type "B" personality.

  • the black

  • I love The Black Stallion! I love Kelly Reno... I have always wondered what happened to him. Guess he was in a wreck, his pick up was hit by a semi truck, and that ended his acting career :( Good to see he is still around though. His voice is still the same (a little older sounding) Long live The Black! Cass Ole, Shétan, Alec Ramsey!

  • hes still got doz same baby lookin eyes...

  • I'm so glad to see you, Kelly, as you are an amazing, incredible person, who has made possible one of the greatest, most beautiful, and possibly the most underrated and unheralded films of all time, The Black Stallion. When I watch that movie I am repeatedly reminded how jaw-dropping talented, brave and very special you are. I wish you were still making films, as we need better quality movies desperately, and I know yours would continue to be the very best. God bless you always for your work.

  • I read this story to my classes in the 1990s and they LOVED it. Then after reading the book, we would watch the movie and talk about the differences, from the book to the movie. It was really a fun time. Great movie, wonderful book. Kelly really had a lot of talent as an actor and I'm sad it wasn't pursued, but maybe he preferred the life he chose?

  • OMG! whats the name of the book Tim is holding?!?!?! o0

Please can somebody tell me where i can buy it ?!?!?!?!?

  • @00BLACKNIGHTINGALE00 It is "The Black Stallion Picture Book" by Walter Farley. You can find it at Amazon or on ebay.

  • @nothing2571

you make my day thank you soooooo much!!! :D

  • Wow, that's awesome to see him after all this time. I've been in love with the Black ever since I saw the movie when I was a youngin. Now I have a black arab of my own. The only thing is that you can't hear what they're saying in this very well.

  • That's why, no believe to the tittle-tattle. I' m Hungarian. I was 12 in 1983. And I liked those days...

  • Re: Mantequilla2, please excuse me, I do not know has in Hungary in 1984. I believe to you. But I well remember 1984 in Russia. I'm Russian, in 1984 me was 18. I do not think that in Russia in 1984 was much worse that in Hungary. The *Brady's Escape* movie is forbidden till now in Russia, because of other movie - *Angi Vera*. To me have bought to the USA, one of my friends living there.

  • Time of the second word war, and after, were bad days in Hungary, too.

The Brady's Escape, and Angi Vera played in those ages.

I write to you because in 1984 there are no such bad days - fortunately.

But both movies are more important movie, and it so good, that you know its.

  • Sorry for the much messages. :-)

  • Sorry for the much messages. :-)

  • When he was chosen for the first Black Stallion movie, he had no previous acting experience and gave one of the best performances by a child star ever.

  • Please excuse me. Maybe this comment is not pertined. I posted *Brady's Escape* movie (entirely, 11 Pt's) with Kelly Reno as role Miki. You can look it to see. From *Brady's Escape ~ (1984) ~ with Kelly Reno ~ 1/10* To *Brady's Escape ~ (1984) ~ with Kelly Reno ~ 11/11*

  • @alechorseman Awesome. I have this film on VHS. Still remember a few words in Hungarian and learned about the hortobagy and the csikos. Very interesting film, sad ending.

  • And whats more - i agree with

Alechorseman! Coz i am russian too... No matter that i am from Australia))

  • Oh! What a extraordinary pretty man^^) The Black Stallion is one of my coolest memories from my childhood. What a boy he was!!! and What a man he is!!!&)

    Thanks!

  • Brady's Escape was a really good movie. Kelly Reno was a pretty good actor. Dude, I full-on cried at the end of that movie, because Kelly Reno dies after this arduous journey through Eastern Europe. He gets shot and John Savage is pulling him out of the mud. Kelly Reno played a very convincing dead person. I was heart broken. I guess Kelly Reno is a real cowboy now. Wow. Barely recognizable. I loved that kid. I loved that kid so much.

  • amberberglund, thank you that have recollected Brady's Escape movie. A movie fine but little known. Kelly Reno as Miki - magnificent actor. In both the fine horseman and the wonderfull actor. Its actors play very touching and sincere. Me always amazed how he was not affaird in 1983 to go the filming Brady's Escape to communistic Hungary.

  • alechorseman!

    Thank you for the film.

I saw it in 1983 or 1984 many times in the cinema here, in my country, Hungary. It was a good place in 1984, better then now.

You write "communistic Hungary" and who reads this, thinks, oh, that was a bad situation! But it isn't true, it is false. In 1983 false. If I can choose, I would live in those day, then these days...

For example, in these days not making such films, than Brady' escape - Hosszú vágta in Hungarian - than those years.

  • kelly...a love in argentina..."heart de horse"

  • My girl friends and I had such a crush on Kelly when the movie came out. What a gorgeous kid!

  • he was such a beautiful little boy.

  • OH My god this is my new favorite vid kelly is my moms cousin!!!!!

  • Wow, it is so great to see Kelly. The Black Stallion was my favorite horse movie of all time. Thanks for posting this.

  • thank you for posting this!

and the black horse is a nice touch

is that a descendant of the legendary Black?

  • ==> I cannot thank it for its marvellous andsincere roles. Please, if you know he personally that thank instead of me. For me this it is impossible - I russian. Many thank you for posting and for new (12-th April 2009) picture (photo) Kelly Reno on "The Black Stallion's" site.

  • I for the first time looked BLACK STALLION the 15-years teenager and I was happy.Later I sav BLACK STALLION RETURNS, BRADY'S ESCAPE and ALAMO JOBE.Kelly Reno the wonder, genuine actor, with expressive face and a voice with emotions.I remember and I love all 4 movies.Especially BLACK STALLION RETURNS and BRADYS ESCAPE.Let I long time not teenager and the adult man.Thank you for posting.I was very glad to see Kelly Reno to hear his voice now, when he the adult.I cannot thank it for it ==>

  • Is there more to this video, because it just ends...

  • Oh, my goodness!!! I've SOOO wondered what happened to Kelly!!! I still have a pic of him from the newspaper when he was in the second Black Stallion movie! I also recall watching a tv program that covered how they did the ship wreck in the original....Walter Farley has made a memory that will not last just 2 him, but 2 anyone who picked up a Black Stallion book...long live Alec!

  • When I was little boy I watch The Black Stallion many times and it was my favourite movie. Kelly was spectacular in that movie.Too bad he ends his acting career but I wish him all the best.
