iSeries...or system i, and i5/OS with integrated DB2, integrated joblogs for every job on the system, message queues, data areas, etc. Makes AIX look like a high school project.
I worked for IBM before (in services), I've used AIX for every high volume applications where DB2 *does* require STAFF...now I use an iSeries with much fewer staff (still high volume) - we have no DBA, and system i takes care of this for us!
I definitely agree with this commercial from big blue!!
FOFL!! You should be happy if you have no human support for this product. So many jobs have been offshored to India that you would never be able to understand what they are telling you anyway
Microsoft runs an IBM AS400. That knowledge is not well-known, but it is so. IBM is reliable. Bill Gates is not a billionare by chance. NASA uses IBM as well on their spacecrafts. It is not so much the other vendor's hardware or operating system lacking quality. It is as good as DEC, Wang, or Data General was in their day. It is the ability of the software developers who work on those OEM vendors being able to design complete manufacturing systems or guidance missile systems.
creepy. I've got an iSeries, and sucks ass. EFI bios takes a million years to boot, AND the thing only runs one OS... Centos... any other OS I've tried to install on it dies a hard death. Three cheers for Itanium 2. not.
LOL

If you have Windows XP, open this file: C:\WINDOWS\Help\Tours\htmlTour\best_secure.htm It shows racks of AS/400's (aka iSeries) at Microsoft.

@cobrachoppergirl Knowledgeable much? It should run OS400 first, if anything. There's no such thing as it only runs Centos.
