@RegLeachFan As an authorized, duly elected member of the stink weasel anti-defamation league I wish to lodge a formal grievance. That comparison to the Irish was totaly uncalled for. The "Rifle" belongs in the Hockey Hall Of Fame. Stanley Cup Champ 74-75 In 75-76 regular season he scored 61 goals and 19 in the playoffs. That was 19 goals in 16 friggin games. I think that record still stands. They have to be complete douche-bags not to put him in the Hall GO YOU BRUINS (FLYERS ARE O.K. TOO)
That's different than the version I have on an old cassette tape, its Strange the tape leaves off "Irish" just has the singers as "The Rovers" but its the same voice. Not like any other Irish Rovers song I've heard.
According to the Irish Rovers' website, their post-show parties were the stuff of legend and Tom Paxton witnessed one and this song was the result. I've done my share of partying in my younger days but nowhere near what these guys were apparently capable of. Fun stuff.
Happy Canada Day, Everybody - Make sure you don't party as hard as this song describes - you don't want to wake up in the pokey - there's still 48 more hours to celebrate!!!!
My uncle has the Irish Rover's golden record from this album mounted on his wall, given to him by the boyos to celebrate the birth of his daughter, my cousin, the year before. Love that little bit o' history.
Love this song! Reminds me of long and hot summer days, and many a longer winter night, spent drinking with my buddies. Miss those days...
@HugeDeal Of course! It must have been Osama the goatfucker as long as he was alive ... Now he have a mighty sip of water - according to his religious beliefs! Bottoms up and chuck-a-lug !!!
This was the OHL's Belleville Bulls song!!! I remember hearing the first 1 min of this song hundreds of times when the boys were warmin up before periods and when they would score goals!!! Reminds me of my childhood. :D Fun song!
I loved this song. I was around 11 or 12 the first time I heard it. They played it in regular rotation on our local AM station here in Palm Springs KDES 920.
I remember I had a mad crush on Amy Hyatt and I never even saw her I guess I had a crush on her voice! REO speed wagon was enjoying hits along with Air Supply and then there was this song! HA HA I loved it probably made it because of Urban Cowboy's popularity.
The Rovers hit #37 on Billboard Hot 100 on 5/2/81. Thanks for posting it! :)

Vancouver's 2011 Cup Run!!
Riot or no Riot, it was a Party eh?
would have loved to have been in Boston today, but coming from BC they might NOT want my kind of Party, and refuse me entry at customs??
I am SO GLAD Vancouver LOST, cause who takes Fire Bombs HOME, and would have looked worse if they had Won, "If Possible"?
It was good to see a Home Town Boy Raise the CUP!!
Remember Boston had the ONLY ONE!!
