    You're Welcome

  • @MikeTheYoyoKid GOOOD FUCKIN SHIT BRO!!!!

  • lol how could you compare the roots and Eminem haa.

  • They say silence is golden.... But The Roots make their music platinum!

  • one of the smoothest beats, brings back alot of memories, me sleeping and my dad racing on the highway

  • Bro eminem and the roots are completely different stop talking b.s

  • Sooooo smooth

  • *The ending

  • That's my favourite part of the whole track. Then ending, the instruments.

  • This track gets seriously sick at around 4:03

  • I bought this album back in 1997. Dang still makes my dick rock hard.

  • That guitar at the end is just.... flawless...

  • <3

  • in all honesty, whenever i hear someone say rapper a is better than rapper b what it boils down to is they mean rapper a is more popular than rapper b. skill is not a critiquing point in the argument, merely a word used in the argument. nothing more.

  • Love that guitar at the beginning :)

  • A yo, you can't compare one dude to a band...not fair homie...shame on you...

  • still bumpin in 2011

  • If you're trying to one-up another rapper, you've already "lost." The goal is create a sound and flow that is characteristic, and unique to that artist. In this, it leaves a rapper in their own category, one that isn't comparable to anyone else...a rapper that can stand on its own. So just as The Roots have their sounds, so too does Eminem...so how is one going to try and compare The Roots and Eminem? They aren't even comparable...and that's a good thing.

  • @Ryan981 Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successfull personality and duplicate it.

-Bruce Lee. Yeah I can't relate your post to my bboying. Just do you. :) Be yourself, but I def agree with you.

  • @Ryan981 the roots are much better than eminem, eminem sucks

  • @ucantknockthehustle hahaha better than eminem, you are obviously racist, eminem is the greatest

  • @fergz94 i can tell you're another ignorant eminem stan who pulls that race card whenever somebody says that someone else is better than eminem, wanna know some white rappers better than eminem? R.A. the rugged man, vinnie paz & braille...the roots are FAR better than eminem & you obviously don't know anything about real hip hop

  • Comment removed

  • @Ryan981 no they are. you can compare artists by thir morale. ofcourse hat you say is correct but its not the only thing that counts. for example, ice cube has great sound. the roots have great sound too, different. I might listen to more ice cube some times because i like his beats and his flow, but i recognize the roots as greater, because of what they support.

  • love the beatles t-shirt...

  • Great, now i have to find thejoshcohenshow's comment. :/

  • I can honestly say I'm a fan of THE ROOTS now that I have grown as a man and understand the lyrical content one of my fav groups

  • classic

  • 90's quality....

  • Ya'll should check the Cyper 2009 w/ Mos Def, Black Thought and Em. They all felt like they were from a family the way they came with it. It was beautiful.

  • black thought is so under rated he should be on everyone's top 5

  • quality is AAAAAAAAH (Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)

  • The licks that start at 04:01 kill me. I love that kinda stuff. Who's the guitarist.

  • @beatnik8tv i think it is spanky aflord! dunno for sure

  • great audio quality

  • this song has a fuck lot of ations

  • The principles of true hip-hop have been forsaken

It's all contractual and about money makin

Pretend-to-be cats don't seem to know they limitation

    Exact replication and false representation

  • beautiful

  • Black Thought is Illest MC around.

  • Roots Ahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm seeing them today at the Chicago House Of Blues! I really hope they play this song.

  • Thumbs up for good music.

  • 4 people always do what they do.

  • 4 people don't like this song? WTF? this song is legendary. one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • My fave song by the Roots.

  • Bassline......

  • There is some ridiculously tasty jazz guitar playing starting at around the 4:02 mark ... where rock and metal guitarists try to prove their skill by beating you over the head with it, a jazz/funk/blues guitarist illustrates their skill with understated style.

Why tap and shred when you can slide and flow through minor chords, palm muting and picking with saucy tone to get into the pocket of the groove? This is playing with soul.

  • @GozerTheGozerian yeah I like to improvise on this track. groove's so sick

  • @GozerTheGozerian While I agree that jazz/blues guitarists are underappreciated when it comes to who people consider the "greats," there's no reason to talk down on rock guitarists. Just appreciate both styles.

I can agree with you that the guitar on this track is smooth as hell, though.

  • to MC requires skill,

    I demand some shown!

    YOU showed it Blackthought!

  • a group liek the Roots gets overlooked in hip hop for some reason but they are dope and talented as hell . i can hear it

  • the best things are simple... (but not for many) good vibes

  • @provex0 how about u hop off and suck on waynes dick hater.

  • @provex0 lol. id REALLY like to see you produce better quality music.

  • for the love of money

  • dope

  • This is hip hop at it's best....a def groove and quality lyrical content. The Roots did it PROPER....

  • What up? The Roots and what they are doing! Keep in it de REAL! Yeah, the TRUTH! Much Respect!

  • This song will live on forever like the pyramids in egypt, the coliseum in rome and stonehenge in england. in 100 years children in classrooms all across africa, europe, asia, australia, south, central and north america will be taught about the roots crew and what it meant to hip hop.

  • Real hip-hop was about letting go, forgetting differences and just partying and having a good time. Great to hear stuff like this making it through the modern day r&b/hiphop bs. Bring back the soul, bring back the music.

  • 4 people must be fans of soulja boy and gucci mane...the roots is def where its at. love REAL hip hop. and im only 18

  • ‎"You wanna be a man, then stand your own, To MC requires skills, I demand some shown" - Black Thought

    Hip Hop Blesses You.

  • Hey People, when we're listening to legends like The Roots, can we please refrain from talking about whack rappers and not even put their name on the comment section. Give thanks to The Roots for making all of our days better.

  • @clippers334

I agree, thanks to real artists!!!

  • @clippers334 No doubt bro!!!

  • @clippers334 well said.

  • @clippers334 finally, an educated remark on these posts!!!! WELL SAID CLIPPERS!!!!

  • @clippers334 now that you mention ppl do that alot in youtube video, talk bout other artist that they dont like in another artist video. I think we should talk bout the artist who videos we are watching and not some one else, just a thought...

  • @laodicea100 So true, instead of enjoying the great tunes people like to argue about who's better or who knows more.

  • @clippers334 Yeah

  • OutKast is my favorite group, but The Roots are making a push. Kast is the only other group that I can think of to have that many dope albums. Illadelph Halflife, Things Fall Apart, Do You Want More!?!!, and Game Theory (my favs).

  • best beat ive ever seen

    -sit back

    -relax

    -enjoy the track

-play it again and again ;)

  • My fav rap song of all time !!!!

  • one of the best songs in hip hop..

  • shocking material!!!!!!!

  • This is Hip-Hop!!!

    Fuck Mainstream!!!

  • killa track

  • thank the Lord for the audience that provided this group fuel from their youth as well

as for this group it self ....

  • Anyone notice the raspberry sound on 2:18?

  • @Gitsniks lol

  • Black thought is myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy niggga boy.....ROOTS

  • Is that ralphael saadiq singing the hook?

  • @MsTracie You got it right.

  • My songg omg !

  • @ johnny4prez - Fuck outta here, You want a real lyricist list. Big Pun Canibus Nas Eminem Black Thought Mos Def Big L Notorious B.I.G 2Pac Andre 3000 Common.
  • @BigDogg90th we got most of the same rappers in our lists. wtf? lol ur trippin

  • @BigDogg90th I agree canibus is one hell of a lyricist. but he cant rap a simple song. He has to use these long words & wide vocabulary which half of us dont understand. Hes good but you cant listen to like all day which you could with pac, roots, common, nas & gangstarr etc. U feel me

  • @2010MissCooper You mean that YOU can't listen to all day. I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to assume what other people can listen to continuously.

For example, I could listen to Saul Williams all day, and he's a lot more complex than Canibus.

  • @BigDogg90th Big L was and Always will be # 1

  • @PHL0WN

Big L was the punchline king, but he's too repititive for me personally to be #1...

  • Big L was not repetitive, he was a hell of alot better than Biggie, and especially Tupac's sorry ass, and the reason why I'm saying Tupac was sorry is cause he never said anything that impressed me, I mostly listen to punchline rappers.

  • @LqrDrnkr757

Yeah, Tupac and Biggie are overrated, neither would crack my top 5 rappers of all time, I'll give you that. But please don't give me Street Struck and tell me as his only track in which he wasn't saying his usual.....

Big L would be in my top 10, but he's not more versatile in subject matter than Pac, despite Pac lacking w/technical skills. And your point of view is skewed already because of your preferences to punchline rappers. I'm not bashing Big L, but stating my opinion..

  • @LqrDrnkr757 LOL Are your kidding me ???? Biggie and tupac where amazing , they both were rediculously talented and spoke true words , there may be better lyricist out there , but they made hip hop a global phenomena , if they were to have lived 5 years longer there talents would be in question with NO ONE ,biggie and tupac are by no means overrated

  • @Zaky2Waky well personally I thought Tupac sucked ass, I do like Biggie cause he actually talked about different shit other than Pac who was always talking about that thug life shit in like almost every song, in my opinion Pac was garbage.

  • @LqrDrnkr757 Jesus christ man.. What 2pac talked about was gheto life, it was about the corrupt goverment.. And yes about being a thug about being real. hell B.I.G was incredible too, but i think his lyrics were the birth to mainstream rap we hear now. But now we hear it too much and its not as soulfull as Biggies.

  • @TheMC420 they were both two dimensional. pac did it em up. biggie did everyday struggles. don't get it twisted.

  • @SmileBigBaby And wht am i getting twisted?, An they did alot more songs then the ones you just mentioned bout that stuff dood

  • @TheMC420 oh word? they made more music than that? man, never knew. you're simplifying everything. go look into the history and evolution of hip hop. but for now, i ain't tryin to start a fight, so let's just sit back and enjoy the tunes.

  • @SmileBigBaby Im simplifying cus it dont need to get complicated. I know my hip hop bro . But your right sit back an enjoy a Blunt while listeing to these classics

  • @LqrDrnkr757 u must not of heard all of tupac songs tupac was and still is one the greatest rappers of all time i give biggie props but it was tupac who told biggie to change it up and become versitile big l was kool but u need to understand it pac is known everywhere NEW YORK ppl knows pac, esp my home town LA knows pac..big L only has a ten mile radius compare to pac..i know BIG L songs i got respect fot that kat..but even this cheap ass new generation that out right now knows pac more than L.

  • @mannyfresh24 forget pac, forget biggie, and forget L. I think the upper hand should go to big L's homie by the name of "Lord Finesse". Now his music and lyrics were actually original. In my opinion, Lord Finesse was even a better lyricist than all 3. :-)

  • @Zaky2Waky making hip-hop a global phenomena doesnt mean that you are true or talented. you can find little wayne and soulja boy right next to justin bibier and lady gaga in chumpy kid's ipods all over the world.

make something to stand the test of time. i cant even listen to ganstarr's mass appeal or souls of mischief 93 till infinity or common's i used to love her, big l's ebonics without getting amped. personally i like biggie better than pac. but pac's keep your head up, CLASSIC.

  • @BiG L on top forever

  • 1. Nas 2. DOOM 3. BLACK THOUGHT 4. Mos Def 5. Talib Kweli 6. Andre 3000 7. Common 8. Eminem 9. Tupac 10. Jay Electronica..... 547369597823659874. Lil Wayne 547369597823659875. Soulja Boy
  • @johnny4prez thats probably the best list ive seen! :) lol.

  • @johnny4prez

    hahaha Soulja Boy

  • Does anyone know who playes guitar on this song or other songs in the album?
