can u get all drivers to work properly? wifi, graphics, ethernet, etc... I couldnt get graphics to look smaller on mine and it wouldnt recognize some drives so I went back to xp.
how did you get the disk to load? I am on vista and have the same model as you, but when i tell it to boost the vista usb drive it goes to the linux screen!
It *could* run Vista Business... but that's a REAL stretch for it. Which model do you have? 'Cause if you have the 8GB SSD, then it's really not worth it. Anything more than Vista Lite (Vista Basic is even larger than the custom Vista Lite) will need at least 1GB of RAM and at least 10GB of fast storage to run off of.
That said... 2GB, 60+GB HD... it *could* do Vista Business. But why would you? Aero won't work anyways, and if you run Sidebar it'll be almost unusable. Not worth it.
You simply load the disk image onto your USB drive. If you don't know how to do this, you shouldn't even be trying. Just go get yourself an external CD drive in that case.
hey where did you download the ethernet and wi-fi drivers from? i've tried so many drivers but none of them work :( i'm using the 32-bit vista ultimate.
You Need At Least A 8GB USB Stick since the Windows XP is about 5.5GB and Vista is Rated At 7.3GB so still i reccommend 16GB but 8GB is ok if you have one. Now burn a disk image probably by Nero(free download at nero(dot)com) and put it on your usb drive OR download vista's iso from Microsoft. If you cant find it and have vista on your PC (not acer a1) get the WINDOWS folder and as i said burn an iso and put it on the USB. Now put it into the laptop and it should ask you "install" and select YES
Actually, the Vista operating system itself is about 2gb. My friends dad is a computer technician and he told me that when I was looking at the 4gb flash drives he had in his shop. He's used them to boot Vista before so yeah even 2.5gb should be fine just to boot it up.
Umm, ok. Anyway, on the subject of flash drives, I just bought an 8GB thumb drive and my family has two new computers, so I was wondering if you're still sure about how you do that booting thing, and if it would be the same for Windows 7. My friend has a Windows 7 beta CD and an assistant at The Good Guys recommended trying Windows 7 because I was complaining about how crap vista is.
Hey I just did the same thing to my Acer but the only think I cant get to work is the webcam.
I have installed so many drivers but they don't work. It wont Recognize the driver. Its driving me nuts!! Im considering installing both XP and Vista on the same harddrive and boot from either or to Use the webcam.
Honeslty thats a little extreme for me. Let me, Please if anything if you were even able to get it to work.
Get a technician to have a look at it. I was considering installing XP and giving my friend my Vista so I could use my wireless. I looked all over the internet for drivers, I swear I could have looked for weeks. Then I had a technician get the drivers, took him five minutes and I didn't really have to explain anything. He just gave me the software and now I'm using wireless.
witch programm do you use to write the .iso to the usb drive
TheFinzi 1 year ago
For those who want to know how to make a usb pendrive XP, it's the same as doing an Usb install Linux.
You need a ISO of the cd, burn it on a pen with a "iso to pendrive" tool.
Then boot from pendrive.

Because Microsoft done Vista to make you buy a bigger pc.
They push to train people to think that their pc are slow and obsolete.
So you will pay forever.

jon204 2 years ago
you re crazy.... why you do that.....
xp works better in acer 110 than vista....
worklife of that netbook... not be so long ..

Maybe it's a test to see a Heavy and useless crapware running on an Intel Atom....
I don't see other needs.
Expecially if comparing a full XP with a "light" vista

Yeah, I got all of the drivers to work. Are you using TinyVista? That helps... no bloatware-drivers to get in the way.
The only driver I couldn't ever get to work was the ethernet port... but I never use that, so it was just an annoyance, not a problem.

windows 7 is vista but only more stable and more drivers work with it. oh and im 14
wwasucks 3 years ago
Windows 7 is not Vista, Vista is NT6 and Win7 is NT6.1
Thats like saying Windows XP is Windows 2000, but only more stable. They are different Kernels all together.
