If I may...a suggestion would be to use chopsticks (or a drinking straw, something skinny and long) and poke "channels" - coming in at various angles - after you've carved out your core. That way, the vodka trickles down these channels and you get a much more balanced taste. Have fun

It's best to have a watermelon that's ripe because it will absorb more booze If you go buy 1 check for these characteristics:

- yellow/light bottom (ifso: it's ripe)

- If the stripes are completely around the melon it's unripe.

- tap on it: hollow sound means that it's ripe.
