looks great but i dont want to use a used up beer can its realy flimsy , i want titanium something you cant crush ,,,can you make a full set out of titanium that would be great
@MountainManD : Fosters cans are pretty damn stout, not flimsy at all. Also larger than regular cans and the shape with the raised areas adds even more structural integrity and adds some interesting options for nesting, stacking and such.
Will a Snow Peak 600 fit in the ziplock container version that Tinny has in this vid. I know the 700 won't fit, but will the 600? Really need to know before I buy one. Can anyone test it for me?
i would pay big money for that tinny! i know theyre hard to make as you mentioned on the scrambled eggs video but i NEED one of those bad. can we make a deal?
Tinny, ever think about spinning a new bead edge on the can? don't know if it can be done on the very thin alum. should be lighter than a machined lip. It is a great looking edge, nice machine work to.
Good because you are not eating or drinking out of aluminum. The pot is lined with a very tough plastic so you are eating and drinking out of plastic.
Tinny, It appears you've turned a ring out of aluminum billet, or more likely, tube. I'm also guessing the ring is epoxied on. The disadvantages of this process are that it leaves a small ledge visible on the inside of the pot, just below the rim that can collect gunk. It's also a time consuming way to reinforce the rim.
Can't you just buy a ginney & double roll the edge? Does the aluminum in the can crack when rolled? Also, why don't you go the next step & spin your own pots from sheet?
very nice Tinny. This would be great if there was a larger width of an aluminum bottle. Been keepin my eyes open for one to use as a cook pot. Very nice design on yor part. Will this be offered in the store, also have you given any thought to a handle that folds in.
I like it, but my problems with the beer-can pot is more the small circular crevice on the bottom.....I get some stuff caught in there when I cook (more than just boiling water) in that type. Any suggestions there, Tinny? 5* for craftsmanship! Must be nice to have such nice toys (tools). Peace.

is there any other purpose for making them this way other than to make the pot more sturdy?
boomer00000 2 years ago
