  • Most of the truly talented left Cuba after Castro took power- so that all you had left were fawning, mediocre, official "experts" like the Cuban guy being interviewed. Looks gay.

  • @bltsrmsqt That's not true. I went to Cuba recently & they have some of

the most talented people in the world. I'm talking about cab drivers that will

blow you away. I met Arsenio Rodriguez' nephew. He is one of the greatest

singers I've ever heard just wasting away. Cuba needs to be free once &

for all so the world can really see how incredible these people are.

  • What song is she singing in this video please?

  • Viva La Lupe

  • What a bunch of baloney from this guy being interviewed. The artists, singers, etc., "couldn't assimilate." No, excuse me. It was the revolution that could not tolerate free expression. That's why so many great talents like La Lupe were gone as early as 1960.

  • @stat3man The greatest of them all remained in Cuba, BENNY MORE, and Cuba lost their talent for a moment because they still had many others, Los Van Van, Orq. Reve, Conjunto Rumbavana, and the ones they have today. The Buena Vista Social Club singers also remained in Cuba. So, whoever left, left cause they wanted to and those who stayed, stayed cause they wanted to.

  • @stat3man

That "expert" is on a government payroll ---- there's that lingo/mode of discoursing which marks him out to anyone who's dealt with the Cuban intelligentsia.

  • Good to hear latin soul! soulful!

  • Maravilloso video.

  • shes fantastic!

    Ella es fantastico!

  • fantastica ..

  • :) fantastica

    yo estoy lentamente aprendiendo espanol..

    EL es dificil!

  • thanks 4 learn spanish ^^

  • Ok, when in the world is the La Lupe Independent Lens coming back on?! I've been mad at PBS since this was first "aired" because it did not come on in my area (I was in Louisiana at the time). Everytime I go to the PBS website to check, I get nothing. It's not even on DVD yet. Help!

  • hey does anyone know the name of the song during the first 7 seconds? I dont think its part of fever...

  • la gran mentira o la mentira

  • @foxxycleopatra1979 Yes Its La Lupes Version of fever

  • I like this version better....

  • what version of "Fever" is that? because its not the same on itunes. :(

  • Conformismo vulgar las palabras del cubano

  • El Fiebre, an awesome cover of Peggy Lee's Fever. Only ten years ago, nearly a decade after she died, I learned of La Lupe after hearing her version of this tune, it is dynamic.

  • she's singing "fever".

  • She was not a communist!

  • Fidel and Che were hot back in the day!

  • I concur.

  • What time is she singing in the beggining?

  • Esto de que va? this is a waste of time........

  • love this woman, too bad I discover her after she has passed on.

  • Pobrecita..

  • ayayayayyyyyyyyy!!!

  • Where can i find this version of La Lupe's Fever. Because i have all her 27 albums and none of them contains this version

  • I was lucky to catch this purely by accident when it came on PBS in Tucson Tuesday night. I really feel for anyone who wants to see this and haven't had the chance yet. It's a really good documentary and a fitting tribute to our "other" queen.

  • This aired last night in Pittsburgh. It was incredible!

  • This did not air whenthey said it was going to air, what the HELL happened? I have been waiting for this for the longest time, and when it was about to air, some other crap premiered. WHAT HAPPENED?!

  • I attended a screening of this in miami beach at an art gallery about 2 years ago. Out of the blue tonight I happened to look at the tv schedule and noticed it was on but I missed it. Appearantly it isnt scheduled for rebroadcast anytime soon, so please PLEASE if anyone got a copy of this try to upload it to youtube or if anything contact me. Thankyou!

  • When is this airing on PBS? I don't see it advertised for Seattle, Washington. Grr!

  • To see when this film is airing in your area, go to the Web address at the end of the video's description.

It's pbs dot org slash independentlens slash broadcast.html

  • Unfortunately, I already tried that. It didn't work. They only showed THE PARROTS OF TELEGRAPH HILL. Thanks anyway.

  • Check the PBS website or your local PBS affiliate's website.

  • I did.....no luck.
