Jerky web browsing, dodgy embeded flash video support, low RAM, insufficient resources to support the multitasking capabilities of the OS. What are you waiting for? Get it at the price of a better Android device!
The date that PR1.2 and PR2 for T-mobile, are almost the same. I thing PR1.2 says Mar 01 2011 and PR2.0 says Mar 04 2011, only 3 days older. So in this case that is why I can't flash PR2.0 with PR1.2 on my RM-691 :(
Thanks! So when you flashed your RM-675 to RM-691, did the flash also change your product code? On your video it shows RM-691 and the model of the phone, but I can't really see the product code.
@Charkatak :) yes, the flash also change change it! But I haven't show the prod.code because is not important. If you flash the phone you can use all product codes...
You think nokia has not decided yet about the release of Anna update to symbian? I have T-Mobile's phone RM-691 and for now I am at the original firmware which is PR.2.0 I hope nokia makes Anna for europe too, so I could flash my phone with Russian firmware, because now I am only stuck with Eng and some other languages.
Doing different ways, works and flash starts, fine, so at the end, when it is done, phoenix can't communicate with the device. I am able to bring the phone back easily by doing dead phone flash with the original firmware. T-Mobile's firmware is newer than RM-675 firmware, that is why it isn't working. So I would have to wait until RM-675 releases PR2.0 update and then it should flash without problems.
You have mentioned that you flashed RM-675 with firmware from RM-691. What about the other way? I am about to buy C7 RM-691 from T-Mobile and flash it with RM-675 firmware from Russian region. Do you think it will work?
@vgplabs Yes, I know to only upgrade. I have flashed many phones, but now all of them really like to change the RM types. So this is how I would flash:
1) Make folder "RM-675" and put firmware files from RM-675 in it and move it to where phoenix looks at.
2) Then I would select no connection in phoenix and open a product RM-675.
So if my C7 is RM-691, I should select RM-675 because I want 675 firmware flash, right? Or would you suggest to make folder rm-691 and then put files from rm-675?
@Charkatak i've decided to write a guide... Today or tomorrow i think write and publish the official guide (how to flash rm691 in rm675)... Stay tuned! I'll write the guide in dailymobile forum, and probably phat^trance make an article on site... after this, i decide to switch to android os.
I don't need the browser, it seems that opera have already done a great job, in less time with opera 11, give me the qwerty and swype, I'll be more than happy ;)
Hahah iPhone browser style and Android keyboard style transition exactly like iPhone only two things Nokia forget about it the full multitouch and flash 10.1:)
Still haven't brought back missing functionality in the music player, like adding a song to a playlist from the "Now Playing" screen. Very disappointing.
@HokiesACC That Sounds More Like A Nitpick Than A Real Problem...To Add A Song From Now Playing, Press Back And Then Long Press On The Song You Want To Add To A Playlist.
@07liberian I know that, and it's unacceptable if you want a user friendly UX. What's worse is that on the N97, and every other Symbian powered Nokia device all the way back to my N75, you had that option from the now playing screen. That's well thought out and user friendly. So what gives here? Having to do another step just to do that is not well thought out. Even on the Galaxy S, the option is right there. It's not about just having that option somewhere, but having it where it needs to be.
@HokiesACC Is The Issue More About Where The Option Is Supposed To Be Or Where You Are Used To Seeing The Option ?
That 1 Step Really Is Not That Big Of A Deal, It's Just Something You Have To Adapt To. If You Were To Get A Galaxy S You Would Have To Adapt To A Hell Of Alot More Than Adding A Song.....
@07liberian It's about where it's supposed to be. Even if I had never used anything else, I would still think it's stupid that you can't add to a playlist while you're at the now playing screen. The logic behind why it should be there is undeniable. Yes, I'm glad that it exists when you back out to the songs list, but that should be that way. I have a Galaxy S, and the music player doesn't require any adapting to. It's very easy to use and everything is where it should be. You didn't like it?
@HokiesACC I Think They Put The Add To Playlist Option On The Song List Because It's Easier To Add Multiple Songs To A Particular Playlist Than On The Now Playing Screen, On The Now Playing Screen You Would Be Restricted To Adding 1 Song To A Playlist At A Time.
I Don't Like Androids (Especially The SGS) Or iPhones Because In My Area Having A Android Phone Or iPhone Is Like Having A Girlfriend That EVERYBODY Has Been With :(:(
@07liberian I agree that if you're adding multiple songs to a playlist, having that functionality in the songs list is logical. But let's say you're randomly listening to a song, and want to add it to a new playlist. It would be logical to do it from the screen you're on, rather than go to a different one.
As far as iOS and Android go, it's all about what you want as a user. iOS doesn't meet my needs, but SGS Android can, but it also needs better battery life, Ovi Suite, and Nokia hardware.
Symbian will only be good/Fast/efficient if Nokia had upgraded to 1Ghz Qualcomm. Until then, the above video is all you will get to experience on your C7.
@gurveersingh Symbian With This FIrmware Already Looks Pretty Damn "good/Fast/efficient" In This Video For Having A 680 Mhz CPU, Having A 1 Ghz CPU Would Be Overkill....Especially For The Battery Life.
Instead Of Getting A Faster CPU That Will Drain Power, Nokia Should Just Keep Improving The Software. Besides The Browser It's Near Perfect.
Instead Of Creating A New Browser, Why Don't Nokia Just Intergrate The Opera 10.1 Into The OS Because I Doubt The Finished Product Will Be As Good As Opera Anyway.
