mine want to go everywhere but, she has an eye on us,cos we simple say be careful with dangerous people, and i let her know about what happened to other kids. But if i cant see her i make a sound she can hear from far, like a bird. and she run to us.
The way this was shown isn't okay I agree. but a child harness for the safety of a child Is okay in my opinion! I have gotten one to use with one of my 2-year-old sons.Keeping him in his buggy all day is much worse for his own good then walking safely. Only 1 hour of walking through our city made me frustrated. Most people laugh about it without asking why he has the thing. when confronting several of them and explained he is autistic most of them where silent. with no apologies. ThAt's sad
those kids were a little old for the leash thing but I have no issue with the mother dragging her child... it was not around the neck and when toddler throws a tantrum it is best to ignore them, the child was not being hurt. my son grabs onto the bottom rail of the shopping cart for me to drag him around. not everything outside what you think is normal is abuse. if children can't behave (which my child can because of good discipline) then you do what you must. but tieing to a post was messed
When I raised my daughter in the 1980s this leash idea did not even occur to us, but I still remember once or twice when it would have saved us a lot of grief in crowded big city areas. Like anything else in life, I think this needs to be used with common sense and moderation. The dog commands such as "heal" are overboard and unnecessary too!
@7tnorris I had a leash, Well, It was like a strap, It saved me from actually dying. I ran into the road and my mum pulled the leash back, I fell down, But I didn't get hit by a car. I lived in London so I think it was a good idea.
Many years ago, when in a RR station, travelling with my Grandmother, I was harnessed. At 1st I pulled and struggled against her, but then I learned to stay with her and a few times later, she would remove the leash from the harness, unless I would run off again, and the leash would be re-attached. I taught my younger kid with the same method.
i don't remember being on a leash but i've seen a pic of me on one. i was probably around 2. and it was only at the mall during a carnival and at a amusement park
this is toooo bad........ i just wanna ask you guys can you see the mother's love for the child where is the mother's love....... in this world the love is just a fantacy......... if this leash comes to india defenetly im gonna portest against it......
its okay if your kid is like 2 or 3 so you have them close to you when in busy place but its just wrong when there older and tieing them up like a dog is just sick
I think there are certain situations that a leash would be an appropriate safety solution, (theme park, mall, special needs children etc.). I have 7 children ages 4-9 (2 are stepchildren). I have never used a leash for any of my children even when they were toddlers and I constantly have people complimenting me on their outstanding public behavior. I think that people need to stop being lazy and teach their kids how to behave in public.
@brokencomfort I used a leash on my little one when she was around 1,5-2 years old. Only when we were walking on the street. Reason is simple - I know a girl who was hit by a car as a kid, and now is permanently brain damaged. Now my child is over 2 years old, and she knows to hold hands on the street, but before, she would want to run, play ect. I would hold her hand, but taking no risks - I used the leash as a back up, in case she pulled free fro my grip.
i understand having kids or pets on leashes, but tying either one to a pole and going somewhere else is ridiculous to me. kids are so easy to kidnap and there are people who will take a dog who's been left out side and tied to a pole. if someone were to tie a kid outside, they're kids should be taken away, if someone ties an animal outside, they're animal should be taken away because you are putting innocent beings in possible harm, both a animal and child.
If I had kids (God forbid) I'd likely have them on a leash when going to the grocery store or a walk, during toddler years. I get anxiety just from babysitting. And I treat my pets like as if they're my kids anyway. XD
when i was a toddler my parents used a kiddy harness to tie me to the clothes line. I didnt know about it till I saw some home videos and saw myself tied there. I did get lost a lot though, I had my fair share of police escorts home.
Ahahahah "Heel, Heel" oh god that's hilarious. If I really saw that I'm not sure if I'd say anything, it's horrible parenting but is it really illegal?
I mean sooner or later the kids will stand up for themselves, but still it's an iffy thing.
If I saw the kid tied to a pole though I would almost definitely call 911, but I doubt I would do anything if I just saw them walking, unless she pulled them to the ground or something.
It's not about cranky kids - it's about their safety. My brother ran into traffic to prove a point to my mother when we were kids. Luckily, the oncoming car had good brakes and stopped about a metre away from him.
I'll never understand the leash idea. I mean, of course kids are unpredictable. They're just curious but to me, putting a leash on a kid seems twisted (in a way) It's like your treating your child like a dog! Kids may be unpredictable but that is what you singed up for when you had them.
If it's a place with a lot of ppl where a child can easily get lost (like disneyland or a mall) then a child safety...leash thingy, should be used. I've seen kids with monkey backpacks where the tail is a leash to keep a child from running into the street or getting lost, i'm ok with that as long as the parent is responsible with the kid. But to tie a child to a pole and leave to do something is wrong and stupid. One day a parent will do that and come outside to see that her child was kidnapped
Those ruglickers probably made that womens life a hell, you should shape your kids while they are young then it doesnt have to come to this,HIT THEM WHILE THEY ARE 3 YEARS OLD DONT WAIT UNTIL THEY DEVELOP THEIR OWN OPINIONS THEN YOUL END UP LIKE THIS!
I personally don't see a problem with this, but not in EVERY public area. When we went to Disney World, we had my sister on a leash, because she was about 3 and she usually got lost in stores back home. So obviously, we didn't want to lose her in a place like Disney World. As long as you're not giving them dog commands, I don't see a problem with a child leash. Some kids are prone to getting separated from their parents. Not too much you can do about it at some ages.
@StreetReach It not the leash thing so much as the dog commands. they want to see what happens when the child is being obviously treated like a pet. i had my cousin on a leash once and I too know its just a safety concern since she tend to run off at times.
[Chaotic Good] "This is terrible! No child should be leashed. I mean, their time as children is limited. Let them be! You're imparting a severe traumatizing effect on them!"
[Chaotic Neutral] "Kids will be kids. You can't help it. We were all there once. They will do what they've always done and that will never change.
[Chaotic Evil] "Hehehe, you should have seen the stuff I did when I was a child. Oh yes, better to keep them on a short leash. You have no idea what they would do if freed..."
honestly I probably wouldn't do anything if it was like this. If it was like people stealing or hitting thier kids yeah, but unfortuntely people CAN use people leashes so....
i have ad-hd and my mom never agreed onputting that on me because i had disorder or giving me any pills my mom thinks the way your born shouldnt affect what pills you take or what you use to be controlled you should listen to your mother and thats the end you should tie up your child on a leash?

Pros: 1) knowing your kids won't run off, 2) a security against daytime kidnappers
Cons: 1) hurts other people's eyes 2) admitting you can't handle your own kids
Verdict: a wash.
