Yeah this is totally ripping off that Ninja Gaiden game were you shoot stuff with your sword, slide and then swing from a tree using your trusty ninja claw... oh wait, Ninja Gaiden doesn't do that. Isn't two player either.

Oh sweet merciful irony, to defeat his long-time evil rival only to find her kidnapped by some jerk thug ninjas! WElp, it's time to strap on your sword and kill a bajillion ninjas, an evil giant doll with a cthulu inspired monster inside it, and a resurrected arch-enemy, all in a master ninja's work!

Awesome game, some cool graphics and tight looking gameplay, a good arcade classic.

This game reminds me of a old game in parts called dragon ninja, the blue, green and red ninjas have similar roles in that game, its older than this one. Just similar with the common baddies thats all, if that game had half of what this has it would have been a unforgettable classic.

Then again... whenever I hear traditional, japanese music and see the Neo Geo logo, it makes me fire up Samurai Showdown immediately ^-^

@solorathain Yeah and the attack looks nothing like Ninja Gaiden. Neither does the wall jumping/climbing, sliding, or alt weapons/spec weapons. But aside from all that, they look nothing alike.

Yup. Good thing there are many other nes sidescroller games that feature jumping/climbing and alt weapons, as it deflects the idea that this game took ideas (solely) from Ninja Gaiden.

P.S. : Ryu couldn't slide in any of the 2D games.

@mrdkaaa Hey Czech, have you ever played a neo geo or what it might be called oeg oen in your country? Most Neo Geo titles released back in the days had this arcade feel to the gameplay that was different from all other games that came out on the other consoles. That's why it's strange to see this game Ganryu or whatever having gameplay that is reminiscent of the that of a NES aka famicom game. Do you get it?
