Hate to tell you this but american have no powers. Canadian Military Police have the same powers as Civilian police. As a matter of fact they have more powers of arrest than civilians. They CAN arrest civillians and have more jurisdiction than the RCMP.

I've been serving with the British Military Police for 7 years and it sucks. Don't join they lie in all recruitment videos to get you to join and you wished you'd stayed a Civvi. I can't speak for the Canadians though so his goes out to the British wanting to join RMP. Stay safe and stay sane.

American MP's get all the kit and are well looked after. In the British MP's there are no such things as Common Sense like making sure the guys are fed and have the right kit there motto is Your in the Army MAKE DO. I was amazed when i went to Iraq and saw what the Americans were packing. I had 120 SA 80a2 rounds and 13 pistol rounds, hardly fucking safe when fighting in combat hey. Oh and no water for 2 days either. Nothing like looking after the guys. Fucking shite.

This is true, Canadian MPs are trained very very well. You first must graduate from a College in Law security Admin or Police Foundations as a min. If you have a degree you can jump in as an Officer. Then you go to Basic then another year in MP schoolin. You learn Military Law and Canadian Law. Crazy but its awesome.
