Yes! Yes! We have been starved of this wonderful music. I have adored Gliere for years and when I first heard his Harp concerto, I wept - and still do. So many consumers (of anything but especially music) just take whatever the commercial bully boys throw at them. That's why people listen to rubbish and grow to like rubbish. Explore, explore, search, search and use your brains. The world is overflowing with wonders of all kinds. All you have to do is explore. Do a search on KANTELE for a start!
@Bloonpopper2007 Welcome to the realisation that true music lovers are starved by some mysterious 'establishment' - possibly commercially motivated - of countless masterworks by lesser-known, lesser-played composers who should not be so!
I want moore :). How about the symphonies? Can I buy a collection of his creation somewhere? I can't understand why my former music teacher didn't mention his name at least one time at school. Just listen how beautiful this is ;)
@Bloonpopper2007 If you are looking for something new (that is also old), try the Boieldieu Harp Concerto. There is a nice version of it by harpist Julia Rovinsky and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. I can't give you the link because every time I enter it into the reply box and hit the send button I get an unspecified error from YouTube. Anyway you can find it easily enough on YouTube yourself.
The piece has been uploaded to YouTube as two clips.
This sounds like heaven.
