It will def. Cause irritation to ur gums and damage ur enamel! Whenever I reccomend baking soda toothpaste to my pts I even stress to ONLY apply it to their teeth where they see stains. If there are no stains what do u think the baking soda will be removing? Enamel. That can even cause sensitivity. If u do whiten ur teeth STOP once u reach the shade u desire or when u feel sensitive. Everyone is diff so anything done at home should be done in increments to see how your body personally will react

I asked my dentist when i first started looking for whiteners and he said absoulutely no way should i ever use lime juice/lemon juice on my teeth. Rreaosn being that the lime/lemon juice strips the enamel from your teeth. Very dangerous. He gave me Crest Strips Advanced Seal. i would strongly reccomend no one use the lime salt method, deliberately brushing your teeth with something that acidic will actually cause your enamel to wear away, whilst the baking soda method will penetrate the pores in the enamel and oxidize stains it wont cause acid wear. Another good one she didnt mention is mouthwashing with hyrdogen peroxide from the drugstore, it's very cheap and is also easier on the teeth.

Plus you cannot rely on websites for information unless it's a government based website. OMG are you kidding me!!! I don't know if she is even a registered dental assistant, but I am a RDA and you NEVER should use citrus fruit on your teeth like that! The acid in citrus fruits causes the your teeth to errode. Basically the acids eat away the enamel causing your teeth to become extremely sensitive. Also if there is a significant amount of enamel erosion your tooth/teeth will become darker or a bit yellow because the dentin under the enamel is a dark yellow color.

@JokkeHimSelf Baking soda can harm your gums because it has abrasive particles in it. You can buy tooth pastes that contain baking soda rather than brushing with baking soda. When your gums are damaged they donot go back to they way they were. If your gums receed you will root exposure, which is very painful. The best way to whiten your teeth is to get custom bleaching trays and whitening kit from your dentist. Hope this helps!
