  • Would love to hear the quad version of this, where she really wails on at the end, a longer version than the original recorded version.

  • I think Bette Midler had little to do to sue over someone else sing her song better! She just should have been able to collect some of the royalites. I will forever miss the original Sable car commercial with the best version of the song and that being the one not sung by Bette Midler!!!

  • This woman looks great!

  • aahhhhhhh! smooth baby! so smooth

  • still beautiful...it makes most of the new music sound like garbage....true clearn singing voice..adele is following in her footsteps. makes you think we settle for so much less now days.

  • The best! LOOOOOOOOVEEEE HEEEER!!!!!!

  • The Divine Ms. M. Such an Inspiration ! xoxox Love It !

  • Still one of the most beautiful love songs of all times. Do you want to Dance, OH YA.

  • what a soulful sexy voice....never get tired of her hearing her.

  • What many fail to see is Ms. M is devine! And after 40 years she looks and sounds the part!

  • Love this, she is still so great & I'd love to see her in live in concert.

  • One of the best live renditons I have seen for this song. Fabulous.

  • At her best! I love this woman.

  • A Class Act!

  • 14 people didn't want to dance.

  • I saw Bette in a 12,000 seat arena (Worc. Centrum) sometime in the late 80's and she put on one hell of a show. She "owned" the arena!!! She was able to make the huge arena feel like a small intimate nightclub. Just one woman did that when there are 6 pieced bands that are unable to duplicate it. It just goes to show how powerful of a performance she was able to put on. Thank You Very Much for the enchanted evening Bette!!!

  • The woman can STILL Belt it out! I can't get enough! Luv Ya bette!

  • i'd love to.

  • One of the few living great entertainers who live up to that billing. One of the best singing actresses, who could take the mosr innane tune and turn into a hymn to life. If only Janis Joplin could have lived to see Bette channel her in The Rose.

  • I just love this...everything about it. Sounds Divine

  • Man, she has really kept her voice!

  • this song has been on my mind...I love it : - ).

  • Gang, I much prefer the Beach Boys' uptempo version. The Divine Miss M hit #17 in Billboard, 3-10-73. God bless ya, for postin' it. Shalom, Bette!

  • Love to.

  • Awesome~!~!~

  • This. The Everything. The Hair. The Face. The Smile. The Dress. The Song. This Song. Her First and Best Song. The Un-ending Talent. of Bette Midler.

  • Nobody does it BETTER!

Thanks for uploading this classic performance!

  • Woooo Hooooo Bette!!!!!!!

  • Im useless on computer will get my pa to do it. Will post it under name Bobbie. Just turned 14 let me know wot u think

  • Bobby wrote it, the Beach Boys sang it. My future ex Bette made it a screenplay.

  • bobby freeman is turning over in his grave

  • @VPKings Bette's version is a completely different groove. Slow, sultry and sexy. It's one of my favorite tracks of hers. Doesn't mean I don't love Bobby Freeman's original--or for that matter, the Beach Boys' spirited mid-60s remake.

  • Bette Midler should come to Alabama, we love you Ms. M(:

  • Great version by Bette but beware there is a 14 year old girl Bobbie Shepherd who will b a star and is making an album produced by 2 very talented guys Danny Saxon and Mark James should b finished june 2011 and her version is totally amazing. Remember her name even Bette will b proud

  • @TheSilkyman no spam. if she 's good just post it. don't compare.

  • Would someone please give Bette my phone number.

    Jim O

  • I first heard this when I was sitting in a movie house showing gay flicks in the middle of the day. it was background to the film (I'm sure illegal). Heard this and "Friends" and fell in love - and I don't mean with the guy groping me from teh next seat. Fell in love with the Divine Miss M.

  • She's soooooo great. Bette please, please come to Europe for concerts.

  • She's soooooo great. Bette please, please come to Europe for concerts.

  • Good downtempo readin' by the Divine Miss M., but, I still like the Beach Boys' uptempo version better, right, gang? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg oh and don't forget the bobby freeman version too lol - once over a store speaker it was playing and i was wiggling- i looked up to find my (now) ex staring at me- we both had the same idea at the same time. ha ha ha. good times.

  • @DaveWollenberg I saw you masturbating to Bette Midlers album cover many times when we were teenagers!God Bless!

  • Midler is an exceptional, "show person," but nothing beats Bobby Freeman's original version.

  • Is it safe to say I fell in love with her when I first heard this song? Beautiful voice and a beautiful woman. Thank you for uploading this song.

  • this song is so sexy!

  • that was ms milder

  • AIN'T SHE SOMETHING!?? LOVE YOU BETTE.

  • amazing, hypnotic, and timeless. I bow to you Betty.

  • I'd Love to have the orignal version from 1972 , only because I'd stay up with my transistor radio with a single earphone till sometimes 4 am. when I was in 8th Grade. I really LOVE this song but her orignal cut is the Best as far as I am concerned if anyone has it PLEASE send it to me Thanks , All Nancy

    Anthony Figgiani

  • There are so many different versions of this song by different singers, and I like them all, but Bette Midler makes it her own, very sexy and dreamy.......Thanks for sharing...

  • the incredible BETTE

  • i love this song!!

  • she just takes this great song and sends it into some new stratosphere that i didn't even know existed -- not to mention she sends me there too. talk about incredible sexuality on wheels. she's just delicious.

  • Bette is such a nut! I remember seeing her for the first time - Live at Last concert on HBO back in 1976. What a hoot!!

  • Bette could make a jellyfish hard...

  • @groagsey jajaja I am going to use that line someday

  • shes a classic isnt she.

  • 1:56 - I went crazy with that improvisation!!! Just a short phrase but man! beautiful!!! :D

  • Never thought Bette was terribly sexy until this video...

I see and listen to her ask ME if I want to dance and I say: Yes, I do!!

  • Bette at her VERY best! So Divine!

  • Yes, I do:)

  • i love dancing with you. I could dance with you everyday.!!!

  • could i have this version of mp3

  • Actually, the real meaning is asking to dance. When you learn to dance well it becomes something that you can enjoy for hours.

  • The real meaning is " Do you want to....." after we dance. This is a nice song.

  • What's the name of the song.....oh, a bar, a bar, I love to call someone up right about closing time???????

  • Drinking Again

  • when i saw her in las vegas the did this with chinese umbrellas and the girls were ballerinas...oh my god AMAZING

  • great vid**********

  • She is so good, I have loved watching and listening to Bette since I was in my teens. I'm still watching and listening

  • I used to work with a woman who, along with her girlfriend, was a HUGE fan of the Divine Miss M. Well, Miss M came to San Antonio for her "Kiss My Brass" tour. I asked the lady if they were going and she said the tickets were just too expensive.

Great singer, Miss Midler is. She could absolutely school the playskool "talent" these days.

  • To my BFF!!!!!

  • Happy Birthday Bette!!! :D

  • I am past what year...and really does it matter?

This woman has no time barrier...no lip sinking needed just pure talent!
