  • Beautiful, peaceful, and appealing. This video does a great job of showing this piece of art in a natural setting, moving in the breeze, and calming our inner selves. Well done!

  • Nice Work!!

  • hahahaha

  • My brain hurts :)

  • It's pretty pleasant to look at, but it's basically what George Rickey had been doing since the '50s (albeit with curvilinear forms, rather than the rectilinear forms Rickey used).

  • ... Didnt gte it... it was just turning around...

  • it's very playful, I like it.

  • Beutifully elegant

  • Awesome :)))

  • ima go to sleep now T_T

  • wow that could make quite a good wind farm if you put dynamos in all the rotating parts

  • Beautiful work!

  • Thanks for posting . I really enjoy the non- symmetrical movement. Will that keep going as long as it has wind input?

  • how did i end up here lol

  • ok?

    I don't get it

  • Nice Job!

  • And it provides it's own security by whacking anyone who gets too close!

  • very nice!

  • iku yok opo nggawene yo..

  • IPU?

  • thats trippy.

  • lol, you could put fireworks on it and then see where it shoots!

  • CAN YOU TELL WHAT IT IS YET?

  • Art for surfing stoners

  • Oh yeah I have seen some of his other stuff at a botanical garden in boothbay harbor Maine.

  • Is it just me or does this seem really out of place on a beach?

  • yes, lovely, but can i play horseshoes with it?

  • wow who cares

  • And this benefits anyone, how??

  • It's art, fucktard.

Your commenting on youtube videos benefits anyone, how??

  • LMFAO THANK YOUU MAN!

  • that's freakin' cool

  • comuter?

  • ukiyo-e wasnt that japanese paintings?

  • its pretty good

  • Amazing artwork. :)

  • obiously comuter generated

  • "obiously comuter generated" lol stupid, its sculpture art

  • ROFL

  • It's pretty nice. I don't really see how you can connect it with Ukiyo-e, though. It definatly reminds me of Constructivist artwork, however.

  • I hope some alien civilization finds this after we've blown ourselves up. they might think we were actually intelligent life

  • This is so awesome it hurts my understanding

  • weird...

  • imagine this, a powerplant that use kinetic energy!

  • Fantastic...I want one

  • Truly an amazing piece. Try looking at while high =D

  • lmao i couldnt agree more

  • Pretty cool, even cooler if someone can walk up to it and charge their cell phone with it. Thank you for sharing. I bet some dumbass will trash it with spraypaint.

  • Awesome sculpture. The eyes look at it, and the brain makes you see things that aren't there! Cool art!

  • Argh, is it in front? In back? It's going to crash into itself, wait, no it isn't...

  • i think it's bitchy to be honest

  • creepiest thing ever

  • it's beautiful.. should i say it doesnt quite have the kineticicity of an edison rock crusher?..ok, i never said that..it's beautiful,, and very respectful..edisons rock crusher wouldnt look as nice on that beach.

  • esa es una wevada de mierda

  • my brain hurts

  • i dunno, can it be considered *wrong* when everything i did, you did yourself in some extend, weird eh

  • Um...I don't really see what this has anything to do with ukiyo-e. :I

  • Coool A Dancing Metal. Can't it go any Faster?

  • is this wind or electric? very pretty

  • uhh ..... O.o

  • lol

  • do you have to spin it to make it go? or does it do it on its own?

  • thats.... cool. i guess....?

  • whats so speacial about this???

  • Who ever would have guessed 2min of spinning metal would be so amazing so some people.

  • you should see what else they consider "art" these days

  • I'm curious to know why its called Ukiyo-E while i can see that its movement is reminiscent of a Geisha serving tea or dancing, was this a conscious design by the sculpture to name it after the popularist prints showing the flower and willow world of old japan.

  • Since you wanted the whole world to know the extend of your knowledge ( or searching skills on wiki or internet in general.) ....why don't u push the boundaries a bit further and find the answer on your own. And don't forget to post it here !

  • @davaeron666 I'm gobsmacked, I dont even know how to respond to this, you can clearly see that others have questioned why it's called Ukiyo-e but you have to single out me, because I actually explained what Ukiyo-e are. Trust the lowest common denominator to cut the tall poppies. I hope you feel happy for cutting me down to size you troll

  • @davaeron666 Do you feel good attacking my knowledge, because I actually explained what Ukiyoe are, does it feel good to bring down someone with a bit of knowledge. I post an intelligent comment and you just have to tear a few strips off it, so I look like an idiot and you look better. I hope you feel good. I really do.

  • it looks computer generated =/

  • thats pretty awesome looking

  • awesome

  • It's addicting to watch, but I think the metallicness of it makes it too harsh to be theraputic and relaxing... Maybe I was only addicted to the waves XD

  • this video sucks, i want my time back, bloody rich boy who has nothing better to do than playing with metal

  • But you watched it... And you decided to waste even more time to write that response... Don't think too much do ya?

  • omg.

  • looks like an elaborate key chain

  • Why is this called Ukiyo-E? (Rhetorical question. I'm not interested in searching for the answer.) Actual Ukiyo-E, Japanese woodblock prints, are gorgeous, but this? Well, it--moves?

  • you didn't have to watch all of it.

  • Wow...

  • ... nani ?

  • Id like to have 4 of those things in front of my house! XD

  • wow, i used to live like half a mile from there. that's the carlsbad power plant in the background of the first shot.

  • i actually LIVE in carlsbad haha

  • that's super cool! if only it had a bit more colours... XD

  • it's so happy.

  • My thoughts exactly. I want it!

  • Now that is something...

  • That is beautiful!!

  • Bravo! I wouldn't mind having that on my balcony.

  • cool

  • holy jesus, those that can appreciate this know how cool this really is!

  • I'd totally buy this. Is it for sale? I could watch it all day.

  • Good feature. Had enough time to wipe my ass.

  • wow way cool

  • kasfkasf

  • Very Nice! I love the way it moves on several plains. It looks way too heavy to catch the wind like that.

    Sudie

  • For all of you who bitch and complain... Give the guy some credit. This person made something that you can't. It doesn't matter if you think it sucks. That doesn't change a thing. The best thing for you to do is just move along and don't return. Thankyou. Good Job Jeffery.

  • cool

  • you wanna tell me how exactly this thing doesn't qualify as a sculpture? Whether or not it's art is an impossible argument based solely on opinion, but how is it not a sculpture?

  • nothing of nothing

  • it's cool!

  • the most bored 2min 17sec of my life..

congratulations! u just made a useless thing!

  • Nifty

  • Hoes to say there are not millions of these things all over the world protecting us lmfao!!

Seek and ye shall find, Piece of @$%*

    EZ..

  • thats not art. boooo gaaayyy. anyone can do that shit. stop poluting nature with your bullshit metal.

  • You're right, it's polluting so much... that metal would be better of being made into car parts, because cars are so clean, right?

It's too bad metal doesn't come from the ground, because if it did, then... hey, wait a minute... IT DOES COME FROM THE GROUND.

If this is "pollution" as you call it, then every rock and piece of sand on earth is too. Do you know how much pollution we are causing by using our computers right now?

YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Typical American- uneducated and ignorant.

  • soooo u can put anything on youtube

  • San Diego?

  • scrap metal going for a good price these days, looked like brass. anyone known where its set up at?

  • are you that stupid?

  • this new beach vegetion is sure getting weird. Damn global warming!!!

  • Wahahaha!

  • sweet its so cool

  • Ahhh...the sculpture on the beach is sooo peaceful to look at. This video is missing something...yes...it's missing an ice cold CORONA beer!!!

  • hahahahahah lol^__^

  • I believe the point of the video was to illustrate the motion presented by the sculpture over a media where you could at least get an overall concept of its motion.

If you fail to grasp the size from the aspect ratio, as well as the meaning of the forces in motion pushing the randomness to new levels, then I guess you DO need some music to appreciate this video.

I am unclear why you would insist that everybody knows that, however.

    G'day mate.

  • this is retared hobo

  • I sort of understand what you mean but obviously you got much more out of it than I did.

I was certainly not INSISTING anything I was merely suggesting that it might make things more entertaining for the average person, but then the video may not have been Meant for the average person.

Thank you for your very enlightening reply

good day to you as well

  • owned

  • lol im just guessing it may move from the wind? most likely haha

  • Ha This Is Cool

  • my brain is like that

  • It is motorized but art nonetheless. Many people consider designing and building cars an art. Artwork can consist of useful objects for purposes other than observation. But if you have something better please post and let everyone else be the judge.

  • +1 i never liked modern art

  • You guys think its crap you should see the Theo Jansen sculptor it moves just with the power of wind.

  • Do this sculptures just move on their own? or are they driven by electricity?

  • this is cool and all but how does it move is it from the earht

  • Ok...enlarge whatever that thing is to about a million times that size, and we've got ourselves the best God damn theme park ride ever.

I'll be filing patents and reserving that sexy red Ferrari F430 shortly.

  • So simple, yet so complex. Interesting.

  • Pretty cool, how exactly does it work, is it on a henge or is it complete balance?

  • I think this sculpture has such beautiful movement, it's truly captivating! Particularly as the artist chose a coastal setting for it. The sound of the sea compliments the movement of the sculpture so wonderfully. Thanks for posting this and I'm so glad it was featured!

  • art fag

  • interesting...

  • thats f**king sweet!

  • i really like it :)

  • the camera dosent move idiot its the actual sculpture thats moving

  • i dont get it.

  • HOw can U not get it -its a sculpture a form of art-get it NOW?

  • omg how is dis moving?!!!??

    its the friggin camra n00bs

  • Its actually the wind (or the virtual wind anyways)

  • the camera huh?

Care to explain why the background isn't moving, then?

  • it is moving

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's a cool sculpture

  • how are 20 people watching it with me how i this famous.

  • awesome. can`t believe you whores being all pissy about it, but i guess thats what you are. this is genius.

  • kooooooool!

  • nice sculpture but what does it have to do with ukiyo-e?

  • Ummm, we have some similar schlptures in Rotterdam, don't know if they are designed by this guy.

  • i dont get it

  • MAGNETS! maybe thats wut kinetic meants .. maybe magnets r holdin it.. forcing it to sway back n forth..

  • nah...kinetic is a kind of energy that you can force or touch in a way...like you create the energy...its not perpetual tho...(which means it wont keep going and going)i think its just the weight of the two quarter circle pieces making it sway like a pendulum...

  • yes its moving! its a KINETIC sculpture. that means its a MOVING sculpture. id love to make something like that. i bet the creator was german or european.. smarties! that doesnt mean anything significant cant come from anywhere else. WUT A GREAT IDEA, to make a sculpture ... that moves.. like a windmill. i think the kinetic sculpture is powered by the wind. DUUUHH!

  • wut

  • Fake.

  • its a computer design

  • looks awsome... but is it moving thats what im trying to find out!!!

  • the camra moves the thing stays

  • I could use this to dry my shirts and socks, just kidding it's a good piece of art.

  • it's powered by dead puppies and is made out of the same stuff as the terminator, it is capable of destroying the entire earth with it's diamond powered lasers, and it's favorite food is spaghetti,

  • Hehe, nice one!

  • lol

  • i see a treble clef....anyone else?

  • This is the coolest piece I've seen in a long time, would love to have thison my roof :)

  • Maybe someone could explain this a little more. Not sure I understand.

  • Who decides what is art? How and why is this video the very first one offered for viewing on YouTube (at least, it was when I clicked on YouTube?

  • cuz ppl forget values and think bent metal is tha shit. well y not a hot chick in a bikini? or even with out one?

  • I like. Wouldn't mind a few of these in my yard.
