Improved Clinch Knot

For fishing I just use a palomar knot on every kind of line. It's easy to tie and I never had any weak knot breaks using it on floro, mono or braid

okay just tried this knot a minute ago and couldn't get it, forgot the part where i had to work down the knot. i just pulled the tag and standing ends lol. got it!!

That method isnt so easy when you are using fine fishing line in the dark.

Much easier to perform the turns by having your finger through the loop and turn your finger instead.

@virtualguitarist same here but not as long.. ive been using this since my dad taught me when i was 13...so like 10 years ago..but ive never tied a lure any other way

The clinch and improved clinch knot will fail below breaking strength of the line. The only knot which doesn't is like a clinch except you go twice through the hook eye forming a loop, do 5 wraps and stick the tail through both of those loops. Called double clinch knot. It's more fiddly to tie it though.

@alan4sure Is that a trilene knot your talking about? I tie those on my gear before I head out but on a boat I can never seem to tie it with da boat all rocking side to side.

It does work great and is one of the strongest knots if you can get it though!

I have always been taught to put the knot in your mouth, letting spit be the lubricant when pulling it tight to avoid stressing the line.
