@iamerikdavis. It was not only about slavery. This is why it took 15 years after the War of Secession ended to be rid of slavey, it was a side issue. The real issue was the right of the South to leave the Union as per the Constitution. Lincoln conscripted immigrants to fight in the Union, which is illegal by said Constitution. So keep believing the lies they taught you in your governent schools, which are a conflict of interest and also not Constitutional. Stockholme Syndrome much? You Myrmidon!

@QuantumKoala Are you an idiot or just confused? The reason the South seceded from the Union was because they believed that Lincoln was going to abolish slavery. Of course it was about slavery. And slavery was effectivly ended in 1865 when the Confederacy surrendered, if you are refering to the Black Codes with your '15 years' comment, those were eliminated in 1866, a year after the war ended. What the hell does Stockholm syndrom have to do with anything? No one is a hostage here

@nycrackhead I'm not a USAer but I think I know my history better than you. The civil war was not about freeing anyone; many blacks were "free" and owned their black slaves THEMSELVES. The civil was about keeping the south part of the union.

I think you don't. The North wanted to abolish the slavery and the southern states were against it and the souther states wanted lo leave The Union. Then federal troops invaded Viginia and hell began to free the slaves was the latter. Lessons learned man.

States will try to succeed again eventually. There is still a conflict of power between the Federal and State powers today. I dont think there will be a civil war though. That would just be too devastating to the entire continent. I think the Union will just dissolve.

1. Define most. I grew up in rural PA. Military service is part of the heritage of the region. same is true in just about every rural area, of the country.
2. PA has one of the highest concentrations of private gun ownership in the nation.
3. Southern heritage is not synonymous with Confederate heritage...a lot of white Southerners fought against the CSA.
4. Not true. Northern states abolished slavery independently of the Federal Union, decades before the CW...

Just screwing around. DArker side is that it is not so good.
