The song is specificly about Passchendaele it seems. One of the movies used to make the clip was about that too. The allies made ground but at a cost of nearly 100,000 lives in combined losses for every mile taken, ultimatly making it some of the most costly ground ever captured in a theater of war.

I already visited Yppres , another damn harsh battle in my country stood there . The fronts weren't moving fast during the Great War , and yet indeed so many soldiers died for few miles ...
