Now that i studied WW1 at school , i finally understand the title of the song " The Price of a Mile " , knowing how much soldiers were killed at each infantry charge during the stalemate ...
The song is specificly about Passchendaele it seems. One of the movies used to make the clip was about that too. The allies made ground but at a cost of nearly 100,000 lives in combined losses for every mile taken, ultimatly making it some of the most costly ground ever captured in a theater of war.
@Stormthorn67 Yes . I'm looking after good war movies , i think i saw " the Battle of Passchendaele " few times , i should buy it , and then visit the battlefields . I already visited Yppres , another damn harsh battle in my country stood there . The fronts weren't moving fast during the Great War , and yet indeed so many soldiers died for few miles ...
@Jabbabob all's you do then is find the basic pay of an infantry man in the american, british, french and german armies of the time add them, then devide there pay by four to find an average, then multiply that by 8333. and that is the price of a mile.
