  • This was, beyond a doubt, one of the finest TV Westerns ever made! the David Rose Theme is

purely Roboust,as it just brings the viewer into that Old Tuson location, with meaning and that

grand sense of western valor. it is likely that CBS owns the rights to this late 60s NBC series,

and its strongly hoped that they will release this on DVD really soon! the original distributor for

this show was NTA-which changed to Republic Pictures Corp in the 80s,and eventually became part of the Viacom family.

  • I love this theme, but it was not composed by David Rose - it was lifted off The Tornados 'Telstar'

    /watch?v=YuA-fqKCiAE

  • my fav tv western and fav actor cameron mitchell

  • The original theme, with all of the drive and "urgency" to it that I well remember!

  • I have been watching reruns and i thought it was a whole lot better the first time around.Distance lends enchantment.

  • Lacing up my brand New Dr Marten boots, carefully turning up the ends of my levi jeans, making sure the creases on the back of my ben sherman shirt was straight. my 3/4 inch braces from woolworths & stinking of brut.....The good life...1969

  • I do often wonder how much of an influence Telstar by the Tornadoes was on that theme!

  • @butiamthedoctor All lot I should say.

  • Here in the UK, we only had 3 channels. On Monday nights, BBC1 and ITV would show Panorama and World in Action at 8.00, so BBC2 showed this. Other shows that would grace the slot were Lancer, The Waltons, and Alias Smith and jones.

  • @dalesaundersfoot ...I sometimes think TV was better when we only had those 3 channels. I could always find something I was happy to watch....now I scroll through hundreds of channels screening utter drivel and end up logging on to YT to watch TV from the 70's!

  • The high chaparral the best western tv show

  • You can see where the prog rock band Yes got the inspiration for the opening of the song 'Yours is no Disgrace' from......

  • need to get this and some of the others back on tv ~ I'd watch this ( and let my kids watch it too) faster than the Simpsons or a reality show ( ugh!) I get enough realty drama at work

  • I loved this series brings back memories we actually watched it in colour when it first came out

  • remember watching this as a family in the early 70's, it was my dads fav show then

  • @TheTWIX0 My dad watched it too, it was sort of a compromise because this came on after Star Trek, which my brother wanted to watch.

  • The best of the western themes, and in my opinion, the best of the westerns; full of Apaches, wild, angry and proud...like yours truly! Wahi'

  • My favorite western from that era although The Virginian was good too.

  • does anyone know where i can order high chaparral dvd? i looked everywhere. Email me at ruswhit60@yahoo.com. i loved the show and theme song

  • Ooohhh !!!
